Fantasy Premier League Intro 2018/19
Welcome to Fantasy Premier League Intro 2018/19. As most of you are aware, FPL has been live for a couple of weeks now, but due to England’s surprising progress to the semi-finals and many of you playing both the Fantasy World Cup game and our very own Predictions Competition we have delayed any FPL articles until today. It’s full speed ahead now though as we look forward to the start of the season which kicks off on Friday 10th August.
If you’ve not been with us over the summer then we hope you feel refreshed and renewed and enjoyed some fantasy-free time. We extend a particular welcome to our new friends who have migrated over from Fantasy Football First – we hope you feel welcome and at home with us.
The purpose of this article is kick off FPL but also to provide you with all the necessary links that you will need…

This one is specifically for those who join in on the site conversation on a daily / weekly basis. Please respect that criteria before applying and wasting Elle’s time and ours.
FPL RULES
The rules for the game are simply as per last season – you have two wildcards to use, one in the first half of the season only and one to use in the second half of the season only. The other chips also remain the same – namely Triple Captain, Bench Boost and Free Hit.
So really it’s just time to start building your team if you haven’t already. No doubt the tinkering will continue right up until the GW1 deadline as players impress or not as the case may be, in preseason friendlies.
PRE-SEASON FRIENDLIES
Usually we run an article and ask people to get involved and cover the friendlies with any info they can gather. And it’s usually fun but in all honesty it’s usually also a bit messy and difficult to refer back to. This season we have one link that you will need need for all such info, courtesy of Mito –

It’s been a busy summer already with Arsenal, Everton, West Ham and Chelsea appointing new managers, Manchester City adding to their already dominant squad, Man Utd continuing to splash the cash and Liverpool trying to protect Karius by beefing up their midfield. Spurs may even have a new home soon.
And FPL wise, this is the place to discuss strategy, learn about the promoted teams and their players while in the days and weeks to come we’ll have plenty of articles, interviews, player analysis, Bore Offs, Tips, etc, etc.
So be sure to get involved in the discussions, the RMTs and the banter as we look forward to another season of Fantasy fun!

Our Regulars League* for 2018/19 is now open and has a cash prize pool of £300 paid directly to the winners from the FF247 management team. The first 5 places are paid out in a tiered system.
To enter this one you need to be an active and recognised site member and you need to e-mail us for the league code – elleffcee@gmail.com
*terms and conditions apply and are available upon request. Management reserve the right to review membership of this league on an ongoing basis. If you enter and win a prize you have to have commented on the site at least 5 times for 8 consecutive months between August 2018 and March 2019 or you will not be considered for a prize. That’s basically 1 comment a week all season, we think that’s a reasonable ask to be considered a ‘regular’.

I spent some time in the corn last night waiting for a word like Kevin Costner did. I might’ve been hearing what I wanted to hear, but I’m thinking Tosun is the answer to my team.

Tosun is one of a quartet of alluring 6-7m strikers. Austin, Zaha and Arnie all look (on paper) not bad options.
Looking at prices, it’s got to be one of them. As it is every year, just not enough cash.

I may stick with Cairney if I go 3-5-2 and Kamara is a 4.5 enabler. Ream could certainly go…..but there’s my American Cottager bias again!!
Ream was immense last season, I can see him doing well bps wise
AK / Colriles – one of you fancy doing the Fulham FPL prospects article? Can’t say we have a Fulham fan within the writing team so be good to get it from an actual fan.
I like this team a lot, similar to mine which is probably why I like it! Haha
Will Kamara get any game time? Considering him as my third sub but still like a bench player that gets done game time!?
I think they experimented with a number of attackers alongside/under Mitrovic in the 2nd half of the season (didn’t actually get to watch a game here in the US until the final!). Kebano, Ayite, Kamara, etc. So I wouldn’t expect starting minutes for him if that’s what you’re wondering.
He played RW. Started looking semi-handy at the end of the season but he’s a real bull in a china shop
Personally I’m not prepared to put down any firm roots on a City player yet. So much scoring talent…if I guess too early I’ll guess wrong ha ha. But I’ve had mahrez in a couple drafts so far too. He never sticks upon revision though.
Yeah I’ve played around with Mahrez, Sane & Silva so far. Would love to stick KDB in there and leave him all season.
I think KDB if you’re going to have a city mid. No confidence in Mahrez’s game time
Like it Colriles & a different slant I cant see much I don’t like maybe overboard on Fulham & it seems Fulham have been experimenting with 3 up front with Sessegnon whom I thk is going to be a big player
Haveing two low priced strikers does help with MF
Kenedy has some tough opening fixture otherwise I thk he would be in a lot of teams good effort
Cheers Silvers. Yeah Sess will have to be huge for us to have any kind of chance. Just can’t squeeze his 6.5 in there right now.
Suggestions for my second draft?
I’m looking at starting three Man City players, mainly due to their opening fixtures being the stuff of dreams.
I waffled earlier about not starting with Arsenal players. Their chums at Spurs don’t have the easiest set of opening fixtures and a lot of their players may not start the season. And there’s still stadium angst. Eriksen maybe is risky, though he’s a great fantasy player. I’d have a City mid instead for starters.
I’m thinking about Sakho, with his ability to grab bonus points, more than any of the CP defenders (and he is a compromise between Tomkins and PvA). Having said that, Tomkins is in my team at the moment.
Just read the many comments made already re the Salah or no-Salah debate.
Triple City could really pay off. Spurs and Arsenal May struggle to begin
I’m vaguely thinking of bringing Aubameyang in for Kun from week 3. Vaguely. Will see how Kun goes. Arsenal’s fixtures from week 3 are very nice.
Gives us a good chance to see who’s playing at Arsenal for the first two weeks and then we can load up on them
Looks a nice side there, I haven’t seen much of Jorginho, think pre-season might tell us a bit on how Sarri plans to use him. If he deploys him as the deepest lying mid, I think I rather have Ralls or Cairney. Ralls in particular will have a big share of set pieces as I understand it and considering how dependent Cardiff is on dead ball goals, he might do ok this season.
