Fantasy Premier League Intro 2018/19
Welcome to Fantasy Premier League Intro 2018/19. As most of you are aware, FPL has been live for a couple of weeks now, but due to England’s surprising progress to the semi-finals and many of you playing both the Fantasy World Cup game and our very own Predictions Competition we have delayed any FPL articles until today. It’s full speed ahead now though as we look forward to the start of the season which kicks off on Friday 10th August.
If you’ve not been with us over the summer then we hope you feel refreshed and renewed and enjoyed some fantasy-free time. We extend a particular welcome to our new friends who have migrated over from Fantasy Football First – we hope you feel welcome and at home with us.
The purpose of this article is kick off FPL but also to provide you with all the necessary links that you will need…
FPL LEAGUES
First things first and some housekeeping – please be sure to join the main FF247 league here (autojoin link) League Code: 1581-751
There is a ‘Regulars’ league too but for access to this you need to contact Elle via elleffcee@gmail.com
This one is specifically for those who join in on the site conversation on a daily / weekly basis. Please respect that criteria before applying and wasting Elle’s time and ours.
FPL RULES
The rules for the game are simply as per last season – you have two wildcards to use, one in the first half of the season only and one to use in the second half of the season only. The other chips also remain the same – namely Triple Captain, Bench Boost and Free Hit.
So really it’s just time to start building your team if you haven’t already. No doubt the tinkering will continue right up until the GW1 deadline as players impress or not as the case may be, in preseason friendlies.
PRE-SEASON FRIENDLIES
Usually we run an article and ask people to get involved and cover the friendlies with any info they can gather. And it’s usually fun but in all honesty it’s usually also a bit messy and difficult to refer back to. This season we have one link that you will need need for all such info, courtesy of Mito –
Here you will find all the pre-season info you could ever wish for in one place – line-ups, scorers, assists, match info, sarcastic comments….
FPL FIXTURE TRACKER
(It’s scrollable btw, just swipe left or right)
FIXTURE TRACKER LINK
It’s been a busy summer already with Arsenal, Everton, West Ham and Chelsea appointing new managers, Manchester City adding to their already dominant squad, Man Utd continuing to splash the cash and Liverpool trying to protect Karius by beefing up their midfield. Spurs may even have a new home soon.
And FPL wise, this is the place to discuss strategy, learn about the promoted teams and their players while in the days and weeks to come we’ll have plenty of articles, interviews, player analysis, Bore Offs, Tips, etc, etc.
So be sure to get involved in the discussions, the RMTs and the banter as we look forward to another season of Fantasy fun!
The League Codes for FF247 for the 2018/19 season are as follows –

Best of luck to you to mate. Good to see you back!
What’s people’s thoughts on Sánchez. I know he was a huge let down last season but man u had a lot of key players away until the bitter end of the world cup. Would be be handed a CF roll for the 1st few games?
And 2nd question should I go Baines or Coleman? Evertons opening 5 games are hard to over look. Is both too much?
I still think Sanchez is overpriced. In a Mourinho defensive side as well. Coleman as Baines is getting older now and doubt he’s on pens
Cheers smash, penos is his really selling point. But I tend to agree. I might look at their midfield or up top low budget forward
I’d expect it to be Siggy and Tosun on pens
I agree with Smash on both points.
Sanchez will need to start well to convince me to take another look at him.
Coleman is younger and better in my opinion.
Agree with Smash on both. It’s a shame Sanchez is so damn expensive as he could fly, but you’ve got to weight that against Jose not being the most attack minded manager!
I’m about to take a ‘quick’ look at FPL.
Wish me luck . . .
Good luck I just spent the last hour having a quick look hahah
Well that was straight forward enough Matt.
Quit your whining! :winktongue:
Hahah too many choices mate.
Evening guys. Been toying around with drafts but this is the first attempt where I’ve actually sat down and given it some thought.
It feels wrong to spend so much in defence but with most of the attacking players that we would want having played in the WC and possibly getting rested I’m feeling uneasy putting them in.
Rip this team to shreds if necessary, looked pretty heavily at that crap fixture stuff AT stuck up on the top of the second page of this article (it’s good just don’t let him know 😉 ) so my defenders are chosen for those that have pretty good first 6 fixtures.
What will be your preferred formation?
Looks very flexible.
Hey abhirup. I haven’t really thought that far but probably rotating between 532 and 442 maybe even 541.
Is this with a view to WC early?
No I hate WCing early unless really needed.
Think he was suggesting he doesn’t like it that much
Let’s face it Matt. After more than three weeks of bla, bla, bla we all going to end up with a similar template. Comes GW 4/5 we are all going to talk about the wild card.
Nothing ever changes 🙂
Haha yeah I’m not sure I like it either. Yeah there will be a template after a few friendlies but wanted to give it a go before that template forms.
I am trying to avoid the madness to get into it so early but following comments and making plans is just irresistible.
It’s an addiction and there is no cure for it 😯
I was doing exactly the same as you but was doing nothing else and ended up making a draft.
Masuaku is now a mid?! How’d that happen? Plays LB doesn’t he or am I missing something?
I just noticed that myself when constructing my first go Init.
He is a wide attacking player but I don’t see appeal now, especially with West Ham signing lots of midfielders already this summer.
Yeah it surprised me when I went looking for a 4.5 mid. I’m guessing because he plays wingback they have ruled him as a mid which is rather stupid.
He’s still essentially a LB or they’d have to have Alonso etc as mids too. (That’s unless he is, I should probably look at the FPL site at some point!) Odd, but whatever.
No Alonso is still a defender so it doesn’t make any sense.
Kamara won’t start if Fulham sign another striker. If we don’t, he’s worth a punt at that price but I don’t think any Fulham player will be very good without a new striker!
Agreed, I may know more about the Hammers, but I know little, or nothing about Yarmolenko and Anderson. I read something on here at the weekend that said the stats for Anderson seemed pretty good. The City midfield just worries me with the amount of talent they have in midfield, and who they will actually play.
Looking at their prices, they are way too high, so going for one of them means I may not be able to go for Kane in a few weeks if he is doing well.
I will swap Kane for Kun for now at least. Arnie stays, as does Salah. They are concreted in my team, unless they get injured long term.
Tinkering needed. First out, Pickford for a 4m keeper – decent back-up suggestions?
Kun not with team.
Which is interesting considering that Mendy and Bernardo made the list.
Also David Silva not with team.
Looks like a list full of reserves, mainly. And Joke Hart!
