No case for the defence
We realise that it is the headline figure of the gameweek score which is the most important thing and not obivously the nuts and bolts of who did what within. Thankfully. Our defence was wickedly bad this past week. Martinez got 4 in goals thanks to six saves against Fulham and oh but for Tyrone Mings gifting Fulham their goal, we could have had a Martinez special.
The back three combined for THREE points – hindered by Azpilicueta’s Zero and *cough* ‘boosted’ by Dallas’ 2. Digne was Joe Average. Speaking of average, Gareth Bale has not often been called that but this past week, he was even sub-average with 1 measly point and DCL, whose form is off a cliff, at least got two.
Onto the good stuff!
In ascending order of fantasy brilliance we had Bruno Fernandes (5), Raphinha (6), Ollie Watkins (7), Jesephine Lingod (12) and Sir Harold of Kane with TWENTY SIX, albeit armband assisted. By one point, we called our captain correctly. Buzz-ing.
Our 66 gameweek score, 20 points above the average, shunted us up to 370,330 in the overall rankings and a green arrow. Very welcome indeed off the back of two consecutive reds. Go us!
Did we mention that Lingard was an autosub for Gundogan’s no-show? No? Good. Forget we said anything.

We are all now of the opinion that if there were points given in FPL for footballers with a good golf handicap then we would have probably kept Gareth Bale and offered him the armband. But alas, no. We have no patience room for sentiment and we let go of the on-loan Real Madrid forward and put it down to one of those “for old time’s sake” moves. Much like when we all bought David Silva for last season’s GW38 send off and how we’ll probably buy and captain Sergio Aguero in 38 this.
Liverpool’s Diogo Jota comes in by the way, winning the first four votes in the poll. Unanimous.
To confirm then we have SOLD GARETH BALE and BOUGHT DIOGO JOTA
Captain – HARRY KANE
Two votes for Harry and two votes for Jota mean that the ‘C’ and ‘VC’ would be shared amongst them. The fifth vote went to Harry meaning that he takes the armband again – 13 points last time out – can hardly blame us.
Token gesture perhaps, but if worst happens, Jota picks up the slack as vice.

I think you have that set up just right. And I assume you’ll be planning the WC around the BB. I have neither so I’m not too familiar with the best strategy, but I’d assume working towards the DGW is the way to go.
What do you think of my WC?
I’ve got 3.3m ITB so could either do Philips to TAA or save it for Maddo to Son next week?
Hearing rumours of Maddy being benched so maybe just get Son in this week and save yourself a transfer.
I was doubtful he would start too given his return from injury

I would lose Reed. Dcl to Nacho and turn Reed into Jota. Use the rest of the money to turn Johnstone into Leno or Mendy. Keane to Shaw or Lindeloff.
And have Jota & Salah? Why no Everton… they have good fixtures (albeit towards the end of the season.)

Would you have enough if you did Keane to Holgate? If my calculations are right then DCL to Nacho and Reed to Jota would be 0.3 short – Keane to Holgate would get you that 0.3

You could drop Bamford down to Vydra and when you sell Son after 32 (I would sell him) then you will have pots of cash
Is Vydra nailed on starter though?
Possibly looking to BB soon – probably GW32, so need to make sure I have a full squad (hopefully) of players to maximise its use.
Unless there will be another dgw – i know Ben Crellin said something on twitter yesterday about some fixture move arounds.
I can bring in Wood for Bamford, Jota for Reed, Nacho for DCL, and Holgate for Keane. Means benching Wood against Newcastle which I dont think is a good idea.

I like those moves but if you’re benching Wood then I’d just go with Vydra and pocket the cash. Is also get Rudiger in your starting 11 over Keane or coufal
Thing is though, is having Jota and Salah a good thing? Yes Salah takes the penalties, and Jota has scored a couple lately – but is it worth having both?
Yes in my humble opinion, their fixtures are excellent and most WCs will have both!
ok, re-jigged again. Wood->Vydra, and Holgate->Keane (as I think Keane is better defender).
Back 3 of Phillips, Rudiger and Keane, and bench is Coufal, Vydra, Lowton.
Now have 1.1m ITB so either spend before the deadline, or use next week.

Johnstone->Leno… leaving me with 0.6m to spend next week.

I’ve ended up changing Saka to Jota! Good to go? Is everyone looking at Kane for captain? I’m wondering whether Jota might be a good punt.
I’d probably have Jota & Gundo as cappo and vice. Both risky minutes though.
Nice team Igy. Jota isn’t really a captaincy choice in my eyes. Might not start which is a real possibility. He will always come on but if he doesn’t start it effects his chances I feel.
I am personally on Salah and i imagine he will be the most popular pick this week. I actually think Jota is a good pick, we’ve seen the damage he can do from the bench but I suspect he starts this week regardless.
