Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 8.

These GW’s get earlier and earlier. We begin this one with a 4pm deadline on Friday as Brighton and Burnley go all Box Office on us. Ever that hardy and all that… The late game is at 8pm as Southampton begin life sans Danny Ings against Newcastle.

Saturday sees the now normal succession of games beginning at 12.30pm with Everton hosting Man United and ending at about 10pm as West Ham and Fulham do battle in the late one (8pm KO). In between Palace and Leeds occupy the 3pm slot and Sheffield United go to Chelsea at 5.30pm.

It’s another marathon on Sunday as West Brom and Spurs kick us off at 12pm, Leicester host Wolves at 2pm, it’s the biggie at 4.30 pm as Pep welcomes Jurgen before Arsenal and Villa welcome in the International Break at 7.15pm.

The games in full…

    Evening guys
    Hits?
When asked about hits it’s more often than not seen as a negative,
In most cases it’s advised to roll or just bench said players who you want rid of.
Now I’m not advising hits Willy nilly but sometimes you just gottta gamble and go for it,
If your obsessed with OR then yea maybe it’ll burn you sometimes, but personally I think if your focussed and sensible then they can work.
My example -8 hit last week.
Decided I needed some more attacking options and targeted Grealish.
TAA was burning a hole in my pocket so he had to go,
Whilst at it Saiss was looking vulnerable gametime wise so he was shown the door.
Wilson seemed good value after his brace so instead of Brewster warming my bench in he came.
Finally Lamptey & Kilman were perfect for my remaining budget..

    TAA (2pts) > Lamptey (6pts)
    Saiss (0pts) > Kilman (1pt Benched)
    Daccoure (1pt) > Grealish (6pts)
    Brewster (2pts) > Wilson (2pts)

Finished on 86pts (78 after hits)

      Damned good show, Bigpopz.

      • Bigpopz says:

        Thx Kralin
        How’d you finish?
Not sure your team is linked,?
unless your a Liverpool fan whose team name is
        “after the rain”

        • Kralin says:

After the Rain is my side, Bigpopz. All linked correctly. Named after a splendid Terje Rypdal album. Unlike you I rolled the transfer. I think I got the (mean) average score this week.

And as ever, my side would like to consider itself full of urgency and momentous things but it is continually haunted by the perpetual triviality of everyday life.

Things are a bit auto-pilot at the moment, frankly, in contrast to your thrust and dynamism. Your bucaneering ways make me seem pedestrian. I try to make what I see are logical moves (or no moves) each week. I even took a hit a few weeks ago. I still fairly guilty about that. Shamed, even. Slightly unclean.

My best season finish I made somewhere between 60 and 70 trfrs….but back then we were all young and foolish lol….nowadays (what an old fashioned word that is, nowadays) each -4 costs many thousands of places, such is the standard….I still err on the side of taking a hit, but am far more cautious and it is serving me better and is more enjoyable…

On the hindsight, what if TAA had an assist and 3 bps?

That’s refreshing to know considering I might be looking at a -8 this week

Are you accounting for the scenario where you didnt take hits and played your bench players instead?

      Brookyboy says:

I dont get it ? From my understanding you are down on the deal and now have an injured player to move on ?

Foden + Podence out for Grealish and J.Rod for a -4?

      AJW says:

Hello Constantine – how are you? I realized that I didn’t reply to one of your messages the other day. I’m sorry about that, as I read it perhaps 8-10 hours later (you’re in the southern hemisphere – I know what it’s like communicating between the 2, don’t worry!), and I didn’t think you would read it. Anyway, that’s about it for the moment! What are your trade plans for the next GW (in 2 weeks’ time now)?
I stupidly replaced Bruno Fernandes with Son a couple of weeks back, and now have to bring back Bruno (probably with a -4 hit I guess), but am going to wait to do it – to see how the IB injuries treat my team. (Plan is to go from Robbo > Cancelo + Son > Bruno, but may well replace DCL if he suffers any injuries with England (I hope not, but you know how things go!).
Bye for now – hope you are well smile

      • AJW says:

Oh how stupid of me Constantine – India is in the Northern Hemisphere – you can never count on Australians when it comes to geography (except perhaps Australian geographers! 😉 ). Pardon my ignorance (just hope this doesn’t spill over to FPL as well!)

        Bye for now! smile

      • constantine says:

Hello AJW. How are you sir? Yupp. India is in Northern hemisphere. smile
I also remember an instance where I had commented on your thread. But, don’t remember exactly when. Thanks a lot for your remembrance. I have a friend living in Australia and the time difference is a big hurdle communicating. I am not sure how and when do you watch late night matches(UK time, that’s like 1:30 am in India) at your place. Five in the morning is a much worse time I believe.
I have already done Podence+Foden to Ziyech+Grealish for a hit. Couldn’t wait as budget was very tight. Even 0.1m here and there could’ve made a difference. Hope everything comes out to be good after the IB. Cheers

Probably makes sense. Need to wait really. I’d prob prefer Ziyech to Rodriguez but cash might not stretch that far
