Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! – Fantasy Premier League 2018-19

Welcome to a special edition of Bore Off! Usually we only run these during the International breaks, but this time we decided to throw one in since we had a few extra days between GW’s. You will notice a slightly different format as there are nowhere near as many questions and we have asked our guys to expand a bit more than usual on the six they did get. This GABO is focused on the blank and double game-weeks to come. Obviously, we can only talk so much without knowing what teams will actually be a part of the actual doubles and blanks and as we see the FA Cup start to dwindle down teams we will address what players/teams and possible strategies you should be considering, but that will come in due time.

Now for a quick intro of our two guests.
In charge of group gathering coordination, captaincy article writer and overall good guy, please give a warm welcome to Rosco, but not too warm as he gets comfortable and falls asleep. Rosco enjoys spending his free time ruining his FPL team and playing with his dogs Mike and Ashley. We assume he is married, but he really only talks about his dogs, so not sure on that.

Our second man is site favourite, Smash. Always quick to help with average advice. He naturally saves all the good moves for himself, that is why he is ranked inside the top 20k and all the people he helps are outside 100k. Smash has taken time from his busy holidaying schedule and offered to contribute, even if he does have to use dodgy hotel wifi. What a guy!!

Let’s get on with it and we hope you enjoy.

Thanks for reading Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! – Fantasy Premier League 2018-19. This article was written by Mito21

And of course give a follow to the one and only, GABO hall of famer, Monsieur Olivier Giroud.

Hi All, thanks for all tips on this website. Prior DGW25 I have no any Everton or City player. I have 1FT this week and 1.2m spare. I was thinkig of saving FT this week and change Alisson, Anderson & Auba to Edesrson, Son & Aguero next week.
    Is there any better option?

This is what my team could look like for 27. All I would do is turn haz into son or something like that and I’ll even have playing sub. Westwood plays Fulham so I don’t mind playing him…

Would you consider to play free hit in 25 if this was your team?

Thanks guys, I always enjoy a GABO article.
First sights of blank and double gameweeks make things interesting.
This DGW25 is just followed by a blank in GW27 for the same teams, so I’m inclined not to distort my team just for that. I currently own Richarlison and Sane, which I’ll probably keep for GW25 but at the moment I don’t think I want to bring any other players. After that it starts to become tricky, depending on whether you build your main team for the blanks or for the double gameweeks…

Currently have Richarlison and Digne, feel like I gotta stick with them, will probably lose Auba for Sane for the double, Sane will outscore Auba in GW25 no doubt, then there’s still GW26 before the blank for Sane and toffees so will probably save the FT and then get rid of Sane and Digne or get Auba back again… At least that’s what I’m thinking right now…

      • gkw says:

Zed, you can’t easily swap around Auba and Sane like that as they have different FPL positions. Maybe do the same but switch around Aguero and Auba?

        • Zed Leppelin says:

Yeah that’s why it requires 2FTs, just had the same idea that Auba to Kun to back Auba again would be a lot easier! I just think with the form Jesus is Kun doesn’t have a double gameweek so I’d prefer just having Auba…. If I didn’t want Auba back again afterwards then it would be worth it I think but Auba is perhaps THE captaincy pick for GW27 with Salah playing United so I think I’ll rather just get Ederson or no one for City… smile

I’m having the same Auba/Aguero dilemma Zed. Auba looks a prime candidate for captaincy in GW27 (and has a great fixture this week) but Aguero looks very tempting for the double.

        • Zed Leppelin says:

I will do the HOKEY COKEY 😀

          GW24 – Auba against Cardiff (1FT saved)
GW25 – Kun against either Arsenal with half their defense injured or Everton and a little bit extra in the other game, which ever he plays I’m happy with it as it’s better than Auba against City away at the Etihad in GW25 (saving the other FT so will have 2 FTs for GW26)
GW26 – Kun to Auba again with the other FT and save the other FT to have yet again 2FTs for GW27, Auba against Hudds in GW26 looks amazing and Kun has Chelsea who are on the up
GW27 – Have 2FTs to lose Digne and Richarlison, having no BGW players and Auba as a likely captaincy candidate in GW27 as Salah has United away whereas Auba is home to Soton

I think I’m all set!! smile

DGW25 was a bit of a surprise to me (not a total one though), I now need to plan. Current squad pictured below.
I reckon I’ll keep Aguero (who I’ll captain) and the 2 Evertonians and save my next FT so I have 2FT to play ahead of GW26. Then for GW26 I finally(!) sign Rashford in place of Aguero, and maybe also upgrade Digne to a ‘Pool defender.
By that time more info about DGWs and BGWs should be available so it’s pointless planning further ahead in detail, right?

      Zed Leppelin says:

Have you already made a transfer for GW24? If you roll it now you have 2FTs for GW25 so you can even make one additional transfer and still have 2 for GW26…. Or if you’ve already made transfer this week the never mind smile But in any case those 3 double gameweekers are enough I think and you can save the transfers for later!

Thoughts for Kane replacement. Was going to go for Auba but is Aguero a better option given DGW25?

      gkw says:

You should get a Man C player to captain in GW25, but perhaps Auba is the better long-term replacement for Kane. How about Auba this GW24 and then for GW25 upgrade Richarlison to Sane or (if affordable) Sterling?
