Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! – Fantasy Premier League 2019-20

Guess who’s back, back again….

With the fpl season getting closer and closer to starting, it is of course time for Bore Off to also kickoff. I have gathered the three originals, as is tradition for each first edition of the new season. As always a new season brings new hope. Hopefully this article helps a little, but not too much.

Looking back through the first Bore Off from last season, I noticed that the Amigos had many things right. All 3 had Salah as the first person in their team sheet, they were all for the LFC double up in midfield with Mane, which would have worked out well for any manager who did. Cookie and Kop were talking about a back four and in Cookie’s case he was talking up a 5 back. Cookie was ahead of his time! Init had his eye on Milivojevic and Cookie said this “Mili is obviously great for a penalty every time Zaha falls over”. Kop talked about a possible golden boot for Auba and was hopeful that Allison would sign for LFC.

Hopefully they can replicate some of their good calls for this upcoming season, let’s see what they have to say.

Thanks for reading Grab, Avoid or Bore Off!. This article was written by Mito21.

I have made a couple of tweaks just now and I think I have a solid team.

It’s just that they seem to pull prices out of a hat, there is not really a consistency, what price and position will Pepe be for Arsenal?

    I’m going for £9m FWD.

Hi everyone ….hope all well, glad to finally be back in FPL and looking forward to the new season!
Been reading through all the articles and comments for the last few weeks while tinkering with my team and feel like I’m close to my final draft. Your opinions on my last few niggles would be big help though ….
1- what are all your thoughts on Zouma …nailed at least till Rudi back ….any better options at 5m?
2- With a budget of £20.5 to spread across 3 players in Midfield/Forwards, how would you rank these or which 3 would you pick?
    Fraser 7.5
    Tielemans 6.5
    Pérez 6.5
    Deulofeu 6.5
    Jimenez 7.5
    Jota 6.5

    Cheers all

      Kralin says:

Zouma’s a wait and see for me.

Currently have Ake but on a strict placeholder basis. May yet start with Coleman though.

For me Fraser then Perez then a very close run thing between Deulofeu and Jota. Currently on Jota but that one could go either way.

      • RedKev says:

        Cheers Kralin
I’ve had Begovic in my drafts a lot for Bournemouth defence but not sure if guaranteed starter or not? Also been considering Rico as 4m bench fodder so not really considered Ake so far. Have Digne too so at the moment Coleman not been thought about either.
Been finding it hard to choose between Jota and Deulofeu myself…so I’ve got both atm, with Fraser being the 3rd player, just agree Pérez could be gold along with Tielemans!
Any reason why Jota is suddenly getting a lot more love than Jimenez? I remember last season Jota was in my team from the off after reading his championship stats etc but did nothing in the Prem for months

        • Smash says:

I can’t see Begovic starting. He’s pretty out of favour.

It’s the one million saving but if you look at overall ownership Jimenez is more owned

        • Kop Warrior says:

I wouldn’t have a Bournemouth keeper anywhere near my squad. They have 3 possible keepers.

        • AT says:

3 keepers that all play for Bournemouth! laugh

        • Smash says:

Think they have four but who’s counting it’s a Bournemouth keeper

        • Kop Warrior says:

So, I think we’re all in agreement on the Bournemouth keepers! smile

        • RedKev says:

just to confirm Begovic has been sacked from my team and security has been brought in to prevent him from getting anywhere near it again!
Cheers Smash, Kop and AT …any thoughts on question 2 ….currently have Fraser, Jota and Deulofeu but is another combo better ….Leicester guys essential or a wait and see atm?

        • RedKev

I’ll plump for Fraser, Tielemans and Jota.

        • AT says:

Think I’d go for Fraser, Perez and Jota. My current cheapish trio is Fraser, Barkley and King. King over Jota is purely to chase Bournemouth’s first two fixtures.

        • Smash says:

          Fraser, Perez and Jota

        • Kralin says:

To answer your question of a few hours ago – Jota’s price and the fact he’s a handy asset (is I suspect the reason why people are knocking at his door). Certainly the case with me. I’ve come to be more relaxed about Wolves’ and Leicester’s fixtures (mainly driven by budget requirements).

    A) Fraser and deulofeu/deeney
    B) grealish and wilson

    MrMajeika says:

Current draft. Fairly happy but a few doubts. Ryan best keeper for price? Gone for deeney as worried I’m to reliant on Bournemouth with Fraser and king. Deeney might become deloufeu but can’t say I’m overly keen on either. Another option is martial instead of Fraser and bring in King? Any advice

    Morning all.
What to make of my latest draft. I’m finding it very difficult to settle on a team this season.

      Offaly

I think you’ll need to find 0.5mln for a reliable fourth defender in case you require it. Two 4.0mln ones are risky.

Pope will need to be monitored but if he plays tomorrow against Parma then I fancy him to start the season. Ryan is your secure option.

      • Offalymartin says:

        Thanks for the reply GP

Yeah that’s true mate. The Kane sterling Salah combination probably makes the team unbalanced.

Think Tossard might be worth an early punt.

        • DMC says:

It does, but what’s a team with no big striker upfront? An unbalanced team imo. With those three around, Im leaning to the conclusion that we should own all 3 and find the least unbalanced solution in terms of points you expect for each position. Right now, my weakest link is the 4th mid (5.0) in a 3-4-3 formation, but I think I can live with that.

        • Offalymartin says:

That’s true mate. If I had to go without one of them I would probably loose Sterling but I’d be terrified to go without him.

I’m not hugely into going big at the back but it’s becoming more important especially looking at last season.
