Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! – Fantasy Premier League 2019-20

Guess who’s back, back again….

With the fpl season getting closer and closer to starting, it is of course time for Bore Off to also kickoff. I have gathered the three originals, as is tradition for each first edition of the new season. As always a new season brings new hope. Hopefully this article helps a little, but not too much.

Looking back through the first Bore Off from last season, I noticed that the Amigos had many things right. All 3 had Salah as the first person in their team sheet, they were all for the LFC double up in midfield with Mane, which would have worked out well for any manager who did. Cookie and Kop were talking about a back four and in Cookie’s case he was talking up a 5 back. Cookie was ahead of his time! Init had his eye on Milivojevic and Cookie said this “Mili is obviously great for a penalty every time Zaha falls over”. Kop talked about a possible golden boot for Auba and was hopeful that Allison would sign for LFC.

Hopefully they can replicate some of their good calls for this upcoming season, let’s see what they have to say.

Thanks for reading Grab, Avoid or Bore Off!. This article was written by Mito21.

So I’ve tried to come up with a team with Salah and one without. I think I prefer the team without him. What do you think?

      Without Salah

      • Kunal says:

It’s been a story since Salah came in, teams without him might seem better but he’s too consistent to avoid imo. Almost always gives returns.
As far as the changes I can see, Barkley to Martial isn’t worth it imo. Barkley seems to have hit some form as well.
Trent is an upgrade definitely but I’d still prefer the Salah team.

        • Sarri-ball says:

Cheers for the feedback. Still need to think. The team without Salah is more balanced and I think it could get more points overall.
kDB is back!! If Martial is playing up front, rather than out on the wing, it could be a good shout too. It’s easier to move him out for the likes of Fraser or Pulisic if they hit form, but with Salah, it leaves less room to manoeuvre. Barkley has never been Mr. Consistency and in that price bracket there aren’t many options. I think I’m talking myself into the team without Salah!!!!

        • Kunal says:

Haha go with your gut then, no Salah team is risky but if done right, can do great! I’m not convinced with Martial to be honest, he didn’t play a lot of games last season and wasn’t in top form. KDB is a baller as we call know.
          Good luck!

The Telegraph are reporting that Harry Maguire has completed his transfer to United for £85m!!

Finally. The most boring transfer saga. More interested in the knock on affect. Being reported on sky now as well

Transfer prices are joke! And clubs are literally ripping United off from past few seasons!

Too much for an average player.

I don’t understand the issue people have with the price paid for Maguire.

Prices are going up every season, United’s income is on a ridiculous level so clubs know they can ask for more, he comes with an English premium + Prem experience premium and has a good few years in him.

Whether he is an “average” player or not, I’m not sure yet. He did well in an England shirt in general and I don’t watch Leicester and didn’t watch Hull enough to comment. Hoping he beds in quickly next to Lindlehof. Regardless, he’s probably better and more consistent than the other options at CB.

      • constantine says:

What about the smaller clubs then?

        • webstar87 says:

Not sure what you mean? As in bigger clubs paying more? I doubt smaller clubs could afford to tempt Maguire away. Nobody would expect them to pay 80m? Though now Leicester are quids in I expect Burnley/BHA will take them to the cleaners in turn for Tark/Dunk respectively.

      • Smash says:

United have overpaid for Maguire. I mean De Ligt went for 63 million and he’s a better player. Personally I’m not sure if Maguire is any good but hey United identified the player they wanted and have got him now. Leicester have not been bullied over a player they did not want to sell so have got as much money for him as possible. Leicester will now have to pay a premium for whoever they go for now as a result

    Afternoon Lads,
1st RMT this season. From the little I’ve seen it seems that the majority are ditching 2/3 big strikers this season for a stronger defence. Not sure if this is sensible or just another FF trend that a few ppl suggest and others jump on the band wagon.
Anyways this method has served me well in the past so I feel like I want to stick with 3 big attackers, A for captain choices and B the old problem of getting them in later on if they cost so much but hit form.
Anyways I havent been following too much pre season so I’m not clued up on who looks like a bargain, who’s on form etc etc.
Any advice appreciated as always, cheers.

Looks a good team to me, I like the look of the big strikers to buck the trend on the site.

Button on bench in case Ryan gets injured? Or is McCarthy part of a rotating goalkeeper thing you’ve got going on?

Don’t know much about adam Smith. Bourn have a couple of tasty fixtures but in general aren’t particularly tight at the back.

Hows this team shaping up, i feel like i’m taking a risk with pepe but feel he will hit the ground running and feel if i take the risk ealier in the season it should be easier to recover once people settle into form if i need to change.

Not good for KWP. Back to the drawing board
