New FPL Transfers Arsenal Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette

Hello and welcome to New FPL Transfers Arsenal Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette. Welcome back to a brand-new season of Fantasy Premier League! The Transfer Window has been in full swing since the 1st of July with plenty new faces coming into the league giving us fantasy managers more options to pull our hair out over. In the coming weeks, we will see multiple drafts, probably all from Mitro, containing different combinations of some of these new faces so to make it easier for him and everyone else; below I have written up an analysis of some of those faces. With so much money flooding into the English League in the recent years we are seeing some ridiculous transfers and transfer fees up and down the divisions (Ruben Neves to Wolves for £15 million, anybody?!!!) In the below article we focus on Arsenal’s latest additions. Two players whom Arsenal fans hope can help them back to their promised land and a 4th place finish

Sead Kolasinac
Defender
FPL Price: £6.0m

New season but same old Arsenal!! Wenger is still in the hot seat but only time will tell if Arsenal can turn things around. Old Arsene has started early by bringing in a new left-back but obviously he didn’t let any funds leave the budgeting department by nabbing Sead Kolasinac on the free. Kolasinac is a 24-year-old from Bosnia who has spent the last 5 years at FC Schalke. In that time, he made 123 appearances scoring 4 goals and getting 13 assists. These stats don’t light the world on fire but Kolasinac is versatile and can play centre back, left midfield and defensive midfield. The versatility that Kolasinac offers should be a Godsend to Arsenal, manager and fans alike, as he can slot in whenever the inevitable injury crisis starts. Arsenal’s first six games see matches against Stoke, Bournemouth and West Brom which could be three clean sheets for the new recruit if he does in fact walk straight into the side but with the form Nacho Monreal was in at the end of last season it will be hard to tell what Arsene’s plans are! With Kieran Gibbs gone there is less competition for the Bosnian at left back but it’s still a wait and see in my opinion.

Alexandre Lacazette
Forward
FPL Price: £10.5m

Hold the phone, stop the presses!! That’s right lads and lassies the world as we know it is coming to an end! Arsenal have not only loosened the purse strings but cut them wide open by spending a club record fee of £53 million on Frenchman, Alexandre Lacazette. Lacazette may not have the gorgeous looks of the Frenchman we all know and love to hate, Olivier Giroud, but one would have to assume Lacazette is the younger replacement for Olivier. Lacazette has been linked with the English game for a long time now usually with rumours of a move to Liverpool but as usual they missed out and the highly rated striker decided he wanted a spin on the London Eye. Lacazette arrives with a lot of expectations on his shoulders and it is well deserved as the 26-year-old has played 275 times for OL Lyon scoring 129 times and assisting a further 43 goals which compared to Giroud is a lot better. In Giroud’s time at Arsenal he managed 2 less assists than Lacazette which isn’t bad but Giroud was worse in front of goal only scoring 98 times in 227 appearances. These stats should signify the end of Giroud at the Emirates and with interest coming from within England from Everton and West Ham or his home country, with Marseille and Lyon looking to attain his services Lacazette could find himself leading the Arsenal line in their hopes of returning to their throne, 4th place!

Pogba can go since you already have Lukaku. Get a Spurs, Liverpool or Arsenal cover. You’re sinful buy seems to be KDB. I like him even tho mine was Alonso. Team looks good. I’m one of those 50% hoping Lukaku falls on his fat ass and injures himself the first day 😛

      Hi Hatters

I’d be very concerned by the potential for Gabbiadini/Austin rotation. For what it is worth I think Austin may start the season but that’s nothing more than a gut feeling. Someone like Gayle who is assured to play would be better in there and worry free.

I actually think double City and United is a it of a different way to go actually. The natural instinct is to spread coverage and double coverage is often overlooked. Be interested to see how that compares to having one each of those and say Alli and Coutinho.

Good luck mate. I like the Zaha pick too btw.

Holly molly the site is buzzing!! Glad to be back after a long boring hiatus! How on earth are folks coping with all the excitement of the new FPL season?
Please RMT – I am thinking a bit outside the box here:
    Courtois – (Maenpaa)
Alonso – Cedric- Dawson- Schlupp – Trippier
KdB – Salah ( Walters – King – Loftus Cheek)
    Morata – Lukaku – Benteke

Am I a bit nuts in totally overlooking midfield? And btw just had a dream Costa scored on the opening day – so that messes with my Morata pick! 😛

Seen a few gos at this on twitter. It’s not for me because in reality, you could only be a few goals away from having 5 ‘2’ scores in your defence and that’s a terrible baseline for a good gameweek.

I like your front five though!

Hi TGP! That is the issue yeah and you are 100% right..those 2s would make me..well..sad!! Somehow I do not yet see the great value in midfield since a lot of teams have so many choices there that rotation could bugger things up and you might have a premium midfielder playing 30 mins a few times more than expected. A lot will change in the next days as I will tinker and tinker…as I recall last year defenders were scoring big at the start..and all teams tend to defend like there is no tomorrow. Nothing a wildcard can’t change if it goes tits up after a few GWs! laugh

Guys did you hear about the new game fpl site is launching? It’s called the fantasy draft and it seems like a rip off of the Football manager 17 draft
Sounds interesting, we should create leagues for this, it will be great fun.

Hi praveen. Draft games have been around for yonks. I think the idea originates from the NFL which gives clubs the opportunity to select new players in such a format. I may be wrong there but they have been doing that for decades.

I made a league yesterday just to see what it was all about. Looks well made and should run smoothly. Can only have 8 in a league mind.

Morning everyone. I’m seeing a lot of teams divert away against a big 3 forwards now. Is this just a trend? Is it to have a more balanced team?

We often talk about having a balanced team on here but as a topic of discussion, does it really matter if you have 1 extra expensive forward as opposed to an expensive midfielder? It might look better on paper and in a real football match would obviously be an important factor but in terms of FPL scoring does it really matter?

      AT says:

Morning Milburn. That is a good point, although the use of three premium strikers at the very least (Morata, Jesus, Lukaku) would set you back £32m and the way I see it is that I then only have £68m to spend on the rest of the team, as opposed to just trading one expensive player for another. The whole team must suffer as a result of it. Further, given that a couple of cheaper strikers register large points totals each year, the lure of plumping on one early is hard to ignore if it frees up £4-5m.

      I’m undecided at the moment.

      Milburn

It’s preseason and we are spoiled for choice so everyone is tinkiering around to find their own way. So happens now that a lot of people don’t seem to like the rest of their side if they stick a big three up top and a big two in midfield.

To answer your question, the two large forwards and the mid-low priced third is definitely to have a more balanced squad yes.

And so long as you get the right guys, no it doesn’t matter if it’s a striker or a midfielder where the lump is spent.

      Smash10 says:

That’s how I’m looking at it Milburn if you look at it in isolation Morata and Ritchie instead of Coutinho and Gayle as an example

Must admit, not having any of Alli, Lukaku or Kane is worrying me a little given their ownership. Assuming I wildcard at GW6 or before it doesn’t really make sense to take undue risks early on, bar taking punts on the early favourable fixtures.

How much should be made of Kane’s slow starts and Wembley, I wonder.

  6. 48

I have deliberately paid added attention to defence in this one including the rotating goalkeepers.

I must admit, I kind of like this. Murphy is the ‘?’ but I could go a couple of ways here including JWP, Mooy etc.

Ideally I’d like Salah but no qualms going with Firmino even with reclassification. I fancy having one Liverpool and sticking with him and he’s the cheapest.

    Appreciate any comments.
