Barry and Paul’s World Cup Predictions Game 1
Welcome to Barry and Paul’s World Cup Predictions Game 1. We’re back! We’ve only been gone a few short weeks but already it feels an age, thankfully not much has changed. We do have a whole bunch of lovely new members, so I’d like to first say a very warm welcome to each and every one of you. It’s usually very quiet on-site around this time of year, so it’s been nice to have some new ‘faces’ to interact with. Lets all enjoy the tranquillity while it lasts, the new season will be upon us in no time, but before then we have the small matter of a World Cup to enjoy!
As the title suggests this is the World Cup Edition of the competition you all (well most of you) know and love. For our new members this is a simple predictions based competition; you make your predictions, we do the math and hopefully we come out at the other end with a winner / winners. Sounds simple. What could go wrong? Well as we’ve found out, a lot actually, but remember folks, this is just meant to be a bit of fun, so lets all play nice.
Below you will find the fixtures of the first 16 group games. Cut and paste the fixtures into the comments, add your predictions and tell us who you think will be the top scorer (as in player) in those fixtures. Prior to the second group matches we’ll have a new article, we’ll do the same again and so on. At the culmination of the Group stages, prior to the last Round of 16, we’ll post a league table as well as the following rounds fixtures.
Points scoring:
Correct Score = 3pts
Correct Result = 1pts
Top Scorer = 5pts
The rules are few; 1 entry per person, and all entries must be submitted prior to the first game of the group stages. Kick-off this week comes on Thursday at 4pm. When all the games have been played in round one of the groups, we’ll count up the scores and the winner(s) will be announced in the next article.
So just to recap all you need to do is copy and paste the fixtures below, pop your score prediction on each and then tell us who you think will be the top goal scorer for those fixtures. Oh and if you say 1-0, you mean 1-0 to the home team. Not either team. Capiche?
Here are the fixtures, best of luck to you all!
