Bundesliga Fantasy Football 2020/21

GW16 DEADLINE FRIDAY 15th January 19:30PM

With the Bundesliga seemingly taking over the bulk of the chat on site a couple months ago when it was the only fantasy game in town, we decided that we should give it a home for the season, after a bit of coaxing. 😉

We won’t be posting a weekly article, but we will update the screenshots and the links within this article so you are getting relevant info for each gameweek as it comes along. We did come up with a set piece table and a pair of trackers to help you out as you build your teams.

Where to join > Fantasy Bundesliga Site the site is still not open for the upcoming season, but you can register now if you wish. We suspect that it will open up in the next few days.

Surely this one is self explanatory. We will do our best to update it as we go along.

Bundesliga Fixture Tracker

Bundesliga Tracker we don’t know what to call

This screenshot could be a bit confusing at first. If you have played fantasy Bundesliga though then you will know about the importance of knowing when your players kickoff times actually are.

“As a manager you can substitute players at any time. If you remove a player that has already played during a matchday you will lose his points and you will not be able to put him back on the field during that match day. However, you can change your star players with players from your line-up as long as their club is yet to play.”

Basically you can manually sub players out if you do not like their score. You can also change captains (there are 3 – a Defender, a Midfielder and a Forward per GW) which really makes who you place on your bench and what transfers you make very important. This game is not just about buying the best players is about having the right guys lined up to replace them in case they have a bad game.

The tracker above tells you when certain teams play compared to others. Ideally you will have your players a bit spread out over the GW for the reasons mentioned above. When looking at it, any team with a 1 next to it plays first which during the GW and in most cases that is ideal. As you get to captain/play players that you can sub out easily if they don’t perform. Any teams with a 4 next to them is not ideal (part of it depends on the fixture difficulty) in terms of their slot, as they play last that GW. If they fail, you will be stuck with whatever score they give you.

Quick recap:

1 = Ideal, the team plays first with plenty of time to sub if the player doesn’t score well, plus the possibility of getting it right on the captaincy in the first game.

2 = Good, gives you subs or captains that are separate from most of your 15 man team and still have other fixtures after it in case the players in this fixture don’t perform.

* = Average, this is where most of your players will land on a weekly basis. You always want the best players, but if they all play at the same time it does limit your chances a bit to make subs and get the captaincy right.

4 = Not ideal, Simply said, if your player doesn’t perform here there is no more chances to sub. Any team with a 4 beside it plays last.

Remember to always look at this particular tracker in conjunction with the regular tracker. In most cases you would not transfer out a Lewandowski just because he plays last. Last season when I looked at stuff like this it was more for the mid level, punty types. As most of us will own a Lewy and Sancho (if he stays) in FBL, so how you score when compared to others many times comes down to how those value picks or slight differentials perform. If you are able to buy those players with better time slots on top of decent fixtures, well one would think you will have given your team a better chance of scoring well.

      Biggie went big!!

Congrats Popz on your huge score, also while I am congratulating you let me ask you, what is wrong with you?! That was the score of a well picked side that was poorly managed. :punish:

Remember you can change captains, I get that everyone can’t be looking at their side and chopping and changing but considering that the Bayern game was on Friday, you could have captained Sane and if he failed then moved it to Sancho. So while the 175 was great between Sane and Pekarik you left 8 points out of your side if you had captained them in earlier fixtures then the one you ended up on. Nevertheless, that’s a great start, keep it up.

The next name I recognize in there is Ivan. Another one with a great score and a mistake that cost him points. I will assume that you had Pavard captain and switched to Hummels so no problems there, but you didn’t start a keeper so that was 5 points lost. :slaphead:

Chipster with a nice score to get going, but it looks like he only fielded 10, so perhaps a little chopping and changing to the squad could add a little more depth and no possible points being missed out on.

GP right outside the top 10 and a bit of bad luck as Guerreiro didn’t start and Bensebaini did Bensebaini things (negative points one game 20 pointer the next?). If Bense bounces back and Guerreiro looks set to be fit, GP should be in good shape for week 2 assuming Reyna and Kala can hold their spots in the XI.

GM in 25th with a very well run team and some good picks, no obvious mistakes there moved the captaincy along correctly. With time GM should move up the standings as the others make mistakes and lose out on points.

Elle was probably too busy stealing somewhere to make the appropriate changes squandering a great start to the GW. Fielded 8 and a defensive captain that got him zero points, yet still managed to finish 27th in our league. :scratch_one-s_head:

Otieno, nice front 3, good on Sancho but the rest is a concern. Goretzka and Sule are decent picks and their floors are good so I won’t critique them much. But your midfield was Sancho dependent for the captaincy, he is the only one in there with a lot of upside the rest just kind of are there and your defence has 4 CBs which I really try and keep away with unless they are really cheap and to be fair most of yours aren’t but that makes it hard to captain a defender and expect big returns. Of course Davies being left out of the XI and Guerreiro looking like he miss the GW didn’t help any of us.

Wolfhounds (Mosc), not the greatest nor the worst start a little adjusting in the coming weeks should see the points start rolling in. Don’t think I would have trusted Harit vs Bayern or Sabitzer to be fit and that investment in those two probably cost you an opportunity to reel in 10-15 more points if not more.

**IF you are a regular poster on the site and I didn’t mention your team in the rundown of the GW, just let me know your team name and I will be sure to include you next time. Some are hard for me to tell because they don’t have a name that goes with their members name on here.

      • Great round up there Legend.

        Thanks :good:

Mito, you were on the Harit & Sabitzer issues. It limited me to 125 pts. I’ve put in Sule for Pavard & Sane for Harit. Had 10.4 itb so went for Darida (Hertha) to round out my transfers. I know it’s early to make changes but a lot of things going on around the house. My bench is sh1te but it allows the starting XI to look better. Thx for the shout out.

      • Chipster says:

Hey Mito. Brilliant summary there, mate :good: I really enjoyed reading that. And I’m obviously dead chuffed to be in the top 10 :yahoo:

It would be interesting to read your thoughts on your own FBL team and your GW decisions too.

        • Well Chipster, I went heavy on Frankfurt because their fixtures looked really good and they have the first fixture of GW2 and of course they didn’t beat or keep a clean sheet against what I think will be the first team relegated. :slaphead:

The Dortmund and Bayern players I owned are self explanatory, most of us owned the same ones. I really wanted Davies and Guerreiro but one was not in the XI and the other one didn’t look fit. So that led me to restructuring my team on the run. Funnily enough it was Davies missing out that led me to Sane. I was definitely going to have Alphonso if he started and that probably would have meant I would have to go for a cheaper mid like Goretezka. Better lucky than good I guess.

Took a chance on a couple of defenders in Lacroix, Gießelmann and Selassie. I thought all 3 would start and in the case of Lacroix his price point led me to him plus that third chart up there. If you notice Wolfsburg has a crap load of stand alone fixtures and only once is the last one. I was hoping he start most of those. He is on a good team who will probably finish about 6th give or take a spot or two, so I figured he was worth a go. Selassie has ok fixtures but is on a bad team, with him it was more the hope that he do something on the attacking end as he does tend to get forward. Gießelmann was a disappointment as I hoped he start and he takes set pieces, so that sucked. Danny da Costa has good upside and did well fantasy wise scoring 7 points, the problem with him is that he sometimes get benched or subbed. I am not aware of any injuries but he only played the first 45 and was subbed. He missed a sitter in that first half otherwise he would have had double digits. Does show his potential scoring 7 in a half with no goal or assists though, but I might move him out.

Consbruch in the midfield was because he might get minutes and even if he didn’t or had a 1 minute cameo he was only a million and wouldn’t lose value. Luthe the Union keeper it was just about picking the most defensive team of the ones with a cheap keeper starting, I don’t care about keepers so I won’t pay much attention to him.

Up top Poulsen was my big call, but I liked the idea of having decent money tied up in one player instead of distributing it because I know I want Davies and Guerreiro once they look ready to start so it be easy to sell him off to raise money. Plus if I have to keep him he has good fixtures to start with so I be ok with having him in my side for a couple of weeks if it works out that way.

        • Chipster says:

Thanks Mito. Very interesting read. I may be looking to this for some inspiration to sort out my own team 😀

    Mito
    Great write up / analysis
Thanks for the feedback, I’ll be honest I kinda forgot the game times and just captained the big hitters, another thing I didn’t trust myself to remember to do the switches.
Luvin the FBL, nice distraction from FPL where I’m doing horrendously.
The bigger budget and captain system make it more interesting, plus 3 free tfs per week keeps it fresh,
    Already done my 3 tfs
Wanted a set and forget goalie so..
Got rid of Horn for Lucas Hradecky of Leverkusen.(Got 1m gk Felix Wieldwald benched)
Didn’t have enough cash so to raise funds I bought in 1m mid Wooyeong Jeong and cheap Köln def Jannes Horn.
Like being top of the league, hoping to stay there so you guys need to “bring it on“
    :bouncy: :superman:
