Fantasy Football Fixtures and Tips Game-week 18 Actual football and fantasy football have a lot in common of course but this week reminded us of a crucial difference in that we as managers don’t have a billionaire Russian judging our performance from the stands. Which is probably just as well this season as we wouldn’t be talking to a bunch of Cookies, Kops and Mitos right now, we’d talking to their fancy new replacements Biscuit, Trafford and, well, probably Mito, given his teflon like qualities. Point is that we run our own fantasy team from top to bottom, we make the transfer decisions right down to washing the spoiled undies at the end of each week. One such manager, who took this analogy a bit too literally, not so long back, is this weeks Fixtures writer NIN. For th...[Read More]
International Tournaments in January & February 2015 Some of you will have read the header and thought Tournaments! There’s only the African Cup of Nations to contend with…. wrong answer boys and girls! There is also the AFC Asian Cup in Australia to deal with. It could mean that some Premier League players will be unavailable for 3-4 gameweeks. With FIFA regulations stating that “For a final competition players must be released and start to travel to their national team no later than the Monday morning of the week preceding that of the start of the relevant final competition, and must be released by their association the morning of the day after their last match of the tournament” this could have a huge impact on Fantasy Manager’s January Wildcards. Now I bet some of you still t...[Read More]
Team Talk Fantasy Football – GW2 2014/15 Whether you had an excellent, average or disappointing start to the season, it’s time to put that behind you and move on – FPL waits for no-one and only looks forward, not back. Which is a result as I’m fed up of hearing about United’s failure to compete in the transfer market, Malky Mackay not quite being the victimised, sweet, innocent guy we all thought he was and Tim Sherwood pulling “out of the race” for every job going as if he’s just turned into Matt Busby, Bill Shankly and Fergie all rolled into one. But, it looks like we have Mad Mario back, for entertainment purposes at least – firework suppliers have gone into overdrive and “Why Always Me?” t-shirts are, errmmmm, still sell...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Pre-season Friendly Overview We sent him here, we sent him there. He came back with regular pre-season updates. We appreciated it all gratefully. What we weren’t quite expecting was that he would come knocking on the FF247 door at the end of it all and tell us that he had compiled all the results for every team into a nice little pile for us. And that he’d completed a summary assessment of each team. And that he’d included the main transfers for each. And that he’d he then added a few observations. And that he’d even then included likely line-ups for each team. Well blow us away as he’s done all that and then some! Hats off to The Gallant Pioneer as this truly is an outstanding piece of work. Over to the man himself…
The Pre-season Friendly Hub Part 3 We continue our pre-season round up by attempting to bring you the key information you will need ahead of the season, to assess ahead of the season proper in about two weeks time. Line-ups, scorers and assisters are all listed for the 20 FPL sides if they have played this weekend. The Gallant Pioneer has done a great job of posting other teams results in his last article’s comments section so check those out too!…
Fantasy Football Team of the Season – FPL Fantasy Premier League The players get to pick their team of the season as do the football writers (apparently I don’t count as a football writer!!!), so I’ve decided to pick my FPL team of the season…in years to come this will be the team to be on! Now obviously the easiest thing to do would be to look at the end of season dream team but that would be boring and while the majority of my team do in fact feature in said dream team I did want to include a number of players whom I felt offered value for money over the course of the season. Before I started I needed to decide on my formation and as I’m someone who dislikes change I’ve gone for the tried & trusted 3-4-3. Now I realise that many managers veered away from 3-4-3 at times this sea...[Read More]
Transfer Window – FPL Fantasy Football Premier League Tips The January ‘Transfer Window’ came to a close last Friday night and if we’re being honest it wasn’t the most exciting window in recent memory, even ‘Mr Excitement’ Jim White struggled to look thrilled as 11pm loomed. Obviously the biggest transfer during January was that of Juan Mata to United, but the biggest talking points of ‘Deadline Day’ were those transfers that didn’t take place as Arsenal failed to stump up the cash for Julian Draxler while Liverpool encountered a stubborn Ukrainian billionaire who refused to sign the papers allowing Yehven Konoplyanka move to Merseyside. However, there were still quite a number of deals made throughout January, some exciting, and some not so exciting and below we discuss just a handf...[Read More]
Welcome to GW22 and it’s a week where many fantasy managers will be licking their lips with excitement and anticipation with home bankers looking on the cards for Arsenal, Man City & Liverpool. With many more wildcards being played this week, expect a high-scoring week as managers plan to take advantage of favourable fixtures and the return of Sergio Aguero and Daniel Sturridge. The Premier League itself is developing into a fascinating season – at the top, Chelsea and City are really kicking into gear now and are looking to up the ante on Arsenal at the top, the challenge for the final Champions League place is also hotting up with Liverpool currently holding that spot but Everton and Spurs refuse to back down while United are also still lurking (ish). But the scrap at the bottom is t...[Read More]
