Around the Grounds FPL Team News Game-week 2

Around the Grounds FPL Team News Game-week 2 Welcome to Around the Grounds FPL Team News Game-week 2. And if GW1 left you feeling a little flat or underwhelmed then it is time my friends to strike back on the casual FPL managers who may not be aware that we have an early deadline this week. So be aware and be ready – the deadline is Friday, yes Friday, as in today at 7.00pm UK time. What a shock the unsuspecting casual will have as they wake up tomorrow morning to find their team already locked in for the week! It’s Man Utd vs Southampton which provides the Friday fun as Zlatan and Jose make their home league debuts for United. Seven matches follow on Saturday, before our week is wrapped up on Sunday with the final two matches. So however your GW1 ended up, let’s go Aroun...[Read More]

FF247 Site Team Game-week 1 FPL Tips

FF247 Site Team Game-week 1 FPL Tips Welcome to the FF247 Site Team Game-week 1 article. A blank page. A clean slate. A slab upon which to paint fantasy football glory. 15 slots to fill with the finest at our disposal. This should be easy then. Last seasons heroes go in first – Vardy, Payet, Kane, Bellerin, Cech, Ozil and Toby. Add in the best of the new arrivals and transfers- Ibra, Pogba, Feghouli, Miki, Stones, Redmond, Valdes and Mane and we should be good to go, yeah? Dead easy. Oh hang on, what do you mean there’s a budget? And a formation, you say? Back to the drawing board then… and the reality that you can realistically only have a small handful of the aforementioned stars. And the skill is not only in picking which of those to take but also in finding the bargai...[Read More]

Fantasy Premier League 2016-17 Pre-Season Round up

Fantasy Premier League 2016-17 Pre-Season Round up Hellllllooooooooo FPL’ers! We’re back. It is that time of the year again when we begin to look ahead to how our 20 Premier League teams are preparing for this the most potentially cash-laden, superstar-fuelled, world class manager-jewelled season in history. FPL will again afford us the chance to back our favourite players (which is of course price-dependent – but that’s for another article) but we need to know that they will be playing in a position worth having them, that they are in form, and more exciting perhaps, where the next bargain of the ‘Alli, Mahrez, Payet, Vardy’ ilk are to be found. And so to assist us along the way this article is intended as a pre-season scrap book where we intend to reco...[Read More]

Best #FPL picks from the promoted teams – Burnley, Hull and Middlesbrough

Best #FPL picks from the promoted teams – Burnley, Hull and Middlesbrough – Fantasy Premier League 2016/17. Living in Japan I’m always fascinated by the trends that transcend the East-West cultural abyss. This stratovolcanic archipelago (thanks Wikipedia) gave the world sushi, karate and talking robots. In return it got Starbucks, the atomic bomb and Shed Seven. Well, now there’s a new Japanese phenomenon zombifying the mass populous. In ‘Pokemon Go’, armed only with a smartphone, you must physically navigate real-life streets, trespass private fields and probably traverse active volcanoes to grab virtual Pokemon characters. Unexpected add-ons include game-players falling down open manholes, ambling through moving traffic and being lured into abandoned c...[Read More]

MLS GW18 / 19 – Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer

MLS GW18 / 19 – Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer This weeks deadline is Wed 13th July 7.00PM EDT. That’s American time – add 5 hours here in the UK! This article is a day late, and that lateness is doubly bad because GW18 will kick off around a day after this article is posted, and GW19 will kick off just two days after that. But here’s the deal, I was sick yesterday. Honestly, I never thought that people who claimed that they caught a flu in the summer were telling the truth – but I caught the flu in the middle of July. But seeing as how I am one of the eternal optimists that this world has ever known, there are a few positives that I’ve taken out of my experience. First of all, cold/flu medication is much cheaper in the summertime, so aside from burning a day of v...[Read More]

MLS GW14 – Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer

MLS GW14 – Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer Surprise everybody, MLS is back this weekend. Right in the middle of all of the other truly great international competitions going on, we have a round of MLS action that will, by and large, go by unnoticed. Now this isn’t so much a criticism of the MLS schedule and their methodology of trying to compete for TV viewers against better footballing options (though I have made that criticism in other forums) – but this is rather a call to action for those savvy enough to realize that they have an opportunity here to gain ground in the MLS league while other players are focused on other things. Maybe your Euro fantasy team is already in the dumpster (I captained Greizmann right off the bat and could never wake up early enough to switch my c...[Read More]

MLS GW12 – Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer

MLS GW12 – Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer If you were one of those few people out there who absolutely knew, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that NYRB were going to have one of the most explosive weeks, then you should probably just hang it up now and move on. It won’t get any better than that. They had two shutouts and took the NY Derby to the tune of 7-0. I think we’re all a bit baffled by how good they really were. And as proof, they have 7 members of their squad in the week’s Dream Team. As for the other three teams on a double? Only Will Johnson from Toronto is represented (no way you saw that coming). And the other 3 slots on the Dream Team went to single-game players. Was GW11 a disappointing round then? Yes and no. The math of the DGW situation held true – 8 of 11 players...[Read More]

Captain Picks Fantasy Football Game-week 38

Captain Picks Fantasy Football Game-week 38 – Fantasy Premier League 2015/16 After 38 rounds of Premier League football, this season has finally come to an end, and what a season it has been! Leicester City, a team that barely escaped relegation last season, have proven to all of us that hard work and passion can beat money, Tottenham have stepped out of the shadows of 5th place to the shadows of 2nd place instead; Arsenal will actually manage to avoid finishing 4th (unless they lose to Aston Villa – about as likely as Leicester winning the league!), Rafa Benitez made the impressive leap (fall) from Santiago Bernabéu to Tyneside; and Jurgen Klopp brought his enigmatic personality – and perhaps even a Europa League trophy – to the Kopites. Perhaps most importantly though – next season...[Read More]

Captain Picks Fantasy Football Game-week 35

Captain Picks Fantasy Football Game-week 35 – Fantasy Premier League 2015/16 A change of scenery for me this week. With no fixtures write up to be done and a capo writer harder to come by than an Irish summer, I decided to take the plunge and see what all the fuss is about. The first thought was why on earth was the blank week the one to jump in on? What an idiot. Then the happy realisation that of all the blank teams there was absolutely nothing, other than maybe Payet, of note missing from this weeks selection. Happy days. The man with glass in his hammys, one Sergio Aguero, was the shout last week with a cool hat-trick against Chelsea and a strike against Newcastle bringing in a hefty 52 points as captain in the big DGW of the season, further proving why he is one of the most fear...[Read More]

MLS DGW4 Tips – Fantasy Major League Soccer

MLS DGW4 Tips – Fantasy Major League Soccer Are you still playing FMLS? Because if you are, you’re about to encounter one of the worst things about the American league – the nonsensical way in which the MLS handles international breaks. Whereas this coming weekend is a period of rest from club play for (pretty much) the entire world, the MLS still managed to schedule three matches. So 14 MLS clubs get to take the time off and not be affected by international call-ups, but 6 clubs have to navigate around reduced rosters. Makes sense right? Somehow those three matches are so crucial that they couldn’t have been delayed another week. I will say this though, in the past, the MLS would have made this weekend a proper game week – that is, they would’ve just given you unlimited ...[Read More]

Fantasy football Trends From The Top – GW31

Fantasy football Trends From The Top – GW31 Welcome to this week’s edition of Trends From the Top. What have the leaders been up to and what will our leaders being doing as we edge towards the end of the season? More importantly, how will they approach the ensuing DGW bonanza set for DGW’s 34 and 37? Let’s take a look and see what’s going on. How are our current leaders going to approach GW 34? Unlike many of my league competitors who have deployed nearly every chip and wildcard, I have failed to use one so, like many of you, I have been planning and plotting potential possibilities (I love alliteration) for the plethora of double games which will take place in GW 34 and 37. I am debating if the proper course of action is to deploy the wildcard during GW 33 and the bench boost for GW...[Read More]
