FPL Live Match Chat Gameweek 9

FPL Live Match Chat Gameweek 9 Welcome to FPL Live Match Chat Gameweek 9 Just as Gameweek 8 is escorted politely off the premises, we have a quick five minute tea break and welcome Gameweek 9. It’s coming at us like a train as well and it begins with another (brilliant!) Friday night deadline. We kick off at the Emirates as Arsenal welcome Aston Villa in what will be the Gunners second match within 95 hours. Saturday lunchtime’s offering is Chelsea v Norwich City at SW6 and fear not about captaining Romelu Lukaku as this is not (technically) the early kick off, well it is an early kick off. You get the point. That and the fact that Salah blew that daft theory to pieces in Gameweek 8. Saturday then continues at 3pm with matches at Crystal Palace – who welcome Newcastle, Ev...[Read More]

FPL Team Gameweek 9

FPL Team Gameweek 9 Welcome to FPL Team Gameweek 9 I’d start Mickey Mouse over Shaw So is the assessment of one of our members who is the only one of us left who actually owns him himself*! It made us chuckle and so it was to be the article title decided earlier in the week, when things were simple and we had an open-and-closed case of bringing in Lukaku with our free transfer and we were only concerned whether we would captian him or Salah and whether we trusted that Rudiger would feature. Ahhh, simpler times …. *At least of time of print. But we’re getting ahead of ourselves. Gameweek 8 is to be reviewed. For “Gameweek 8” read “Liverpool” Thanks to captain Salah (26) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (6) we limped to an overall score of 46 which was thr...[Read More]

Predicted Line-ups and FPL Team News Gameweek 9

Predicted Line-ups and FPL Team News Gameweek 9 Slight change to the format this week… Last week we launched two different versions of this article – one here with a nice ‘grid’ layout and the other on the permanently linked version (see below). With it being a bit of a ‘live experiment’ we weren’t sure what to expect but having done so it seems that the ‘grid’ version in conjunction with a live comments section caused a few loading issues and was generally a bit ‘buggy’. Nothing major but enough to make us have a re-think. As such we have simply switched the two and so now if you want to see the nicely laid out version you can click here. The one below now has the drop-down version. It’s fairly idiot proof though R...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 9

Each week it just feels like it’s a race to select Salah for writing duties in order to gain some credit in this column the next week. Whatever we can do to massage these massive football/FPL egos at FF247 towers we will. A happy ship and all that… Kralin – you da man! Let’s se...[Read More]

7 players that should be doing better in the FPL 2021/22 season

7 players that should be doing better in the FPL 2021/22 season As we reach the end of Game Week 8, two months of the 2021/22 Premier League campaign have now elapsed. It’s high time to review the season so far to determine which players have underperformed to date, relative to their transfer values and reputation. Any successful FPL manager will want to be looking at making some tweaks to their squad if things aren’t looking up with almost a quarter of the season gone. If you’re looking to change up your side, consider giving the seven following players a wide berth given their underperformance so far this term: Timo Werner With just one Premier League goal and one assist to his name, Timo Werner is still struggling to hit the ground running in English football. Granted, he has only start...[Read More]

The Impact of the Takeover at Newcastle United

The Impact of the Takeover at Newcastle United Mike Ashley’s 14-year tenure as divisive owner of Newcastle United was ended on October 8th 2021 following the completion of the protracted takeover by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF). Although there have been some reservations from a moralistic standpoint, the takeover was widely celebrated across Tyneside with a jubilant throng of Newcastle fans gathering outside St. James’ Park to share their joy with fellow supporters. How Will the Takeover Impact the Club and the Premier League? Manager Steve Bruce celebrated his 1000th game as a manager on October 17th, however, the affable Geordie has now been relieved of his duties. The former Crystal Palace and Birmingham boss had helped to steady the ship and although his preferred style ...[Read More]

5 of the most unlikely top performers in the 2021/22 FPL so far With almost a quarter of the 2021/22 EPL campaign underway, now is the ideal opportunity for FPL managers to take a step back and check out some of the surprise performers in the league thus far. Below, we explore five high-scoring FPL players that weren’t expected to start the 2021/22 season in such blistering form. Andros Townsend 30-year-old winger Andros Townsend left Crystal Palace after a five-year association with the Eagles. Few could have predicted the impact he’d make at his new club Everton, scoring three goals in seven appearances in Rafael Benitez’s new-look side. Everton and Townsend have the luxury of not being involved in European competition this season. This could end up being a blessing in disguise, particul...[Read More]

FPL Live Match Chat Gameweek 8

FPL Live Match Chat Gameweek 8 FPL Live Match Chat Gameweek 8 We have a bumper Saturday for a change with no less than 7 games to digest. We imagine the majority will be hoping that (Captain) Salah doesn’t put an early dampner on their gameweek in his lunchtime visit to Watford. At 3pm we have a Villa v Wolves derby, Man U going to Leicester for a 4th place play-off, Man City’s bi-annual hammering of Burnley, Brighton hoping to see Norwich off to the Championship, with Saints and Leeds completing the set. Saturday night (ish) should then be fun as Brentford and Chelsea slug it out at 5.30pm. Sunday may be a bit short on games but they promise to be interesting ones if nothing else. The Moyes derby is at 2pm as Everton welcome West Ham. All eyes will then be on the richest club ...[Read More]

FF247 Site FPL Team GW8

FF247 Site FPL Team GW8 A damp squib Last week we lamented ‘only our second captaincy fail of the season’ and here we are again lamenting our third captaincy fail. We weren’t alone. With many going for Ronaldo and Lukaku (who scored 2pts and 4pts respectively) we went into Sunday feeling a little smug with our ‘differential’ Antonio (C), only to watch in dismay as he returned a paltry 4pts, thus rendering all our pre-deadline decision making a moot point. In a game-week where the average was a lowly 38pts, we limped over the line with 40pts and still ended up on a red arrow. Albeit a small one, with a rank drop of just over 50k (221,616 – 273, 191). In a week that saw many suffer worse, we’ll take it and soldier on. New signing Antonio Rüdiger lost his ‘guaranteed clean sheet’, and e...[Read More]

Predicted Line-ups and FPL Team News 2021/22 GW8

Predicted Line-ups and FPL Team News 2021/22 GW8 We did say from the get go that this article would most likely evolve over time and we are very pleased to say that it has taken big strides this week. What you now see below is a live link to what Drafthound have on their website. Why is that significant? Well, firstly, it now means that the second they make any updates in reaction to live team news then they will also appear on here. Being uber helpful in that respect they also time-stamp all of their line-ups so you can tell to the minute when it was last updated. Secondly it also means that we now have a much smarter looking interface. Previously we have simply been screen-shotting the team images and that can mean they look a bit inconsistent and sometimes blurry, at best. And they were...[Read More]
