With the quick turnaround, we’ll keep things short and sweet this week and dive straight into the winners! First place in last weeks predictions was a tie between Shinespark and Hammerfan who both netted 10pts. Whilst Shinespark guessed first goal scorer Klich, his prediction of the 49th minute was not as close as Hammerfan’s 12th-minute prediction, which was enough to seal the deal for him. Crystal Palace’s 1-5 win away to West Brom was the only match to break too far away from the expected norm. We had the usual smattering of 2-1’s (although both technically 1-2’s), just three clean sheets (the usual suspects in City, Liverpool and Spurs) and just a solitary draw (Burnley v Everton). Friday gets the action started with one fixture when Villa play host to whatever Covid-free players Newcastle can spare. One can only assume that the game was played by itself so it wouldn’t infect any of the other fixtures. Oh well, scrap that… We begin with Saturday bringing us four responsible fixtures. FF247 FPL Team GW11 Welcome to FF247 FPL Team GW11 Tea or Dinner? Clearing the weekly average by more than just a sliver of daylight was a refreshing change for us in GW10. We scored 57 points which was a full 13 above the average of 44. That’s more like it! We had three tens, a nine and an eight among our lot and shoutouts go to Kevin de Bruyne, Jack Grealish and Jamie Vardy (all 10) – although JV9 needed the armband to achieve his – then onto Diogo Jota (9) and Ben Chilwell (8). The rest, well the least said the better with no fewer than FIVE 2-pointers which at least was better than Scott Dann with his big fat zero. Trends and statistics still apply but with no public in the stands cheering the home boys or booing the away team (and the ref) they are not as reliable. It’s only taken 10 weeks but I think we can finally say with confidence that results have returned to the mean. 2-1 is a classic scoreline and normally the safest prediction in any given match, this week we had three of them. Throw in a 1-1, a couple of 1-0’s and the annual Man City 5 Burnley 0 and things look positively, well, normal.
