New Signings – Fantasy Premier League 2015/16. Juanmi

FPL 2015/16 transfer round up Well after getting my arm twisted just a bit, I joined in on the new signings fun. I present to you Juanmi. Is he really deserving of an article and with picture included all on his own? Probably not, but this is due more to my laziness than Juanmi’s talent. Besides I have to go colour in some trackers and what not. So here you go fantasy fans, we present the giant Juanmi.

[clear]Juanmi
Southampton
Age: 22
Position: Striker-ish
Signed From: Malaga
Fee: Let’s call it 5.0 (ed. let’s call it what it is – 6.0?!)

[/three_fourth]Juan Miguel Jiménez López also known as Juanmi is a 22 year old who has just joined Southampton. He said his life long dream was to play for a big club when he signed with the Saints, hmmm, guess that is still a goal not yet accomplished. Juanmi scored 8 goals last season in La Liga with Malaga and got his first senior squad call up in March for Spain. There is a lot of things to like about this young Spanish international. He goes by one name, he is Spanish and he is small. We all know that the only good Spanish players are small, so he can’t be all that bad. It remains to be seen where he will be played by Koeman. Striker seems to be his preferred position, however he can play all along the front line if needed. Also will be interesting if the rigours of playing in the EPL will make it tough on him to adjust quickly and show some of his best qualities. Expect to see a pacy player with good movement off the ball. Surprisingly good in the air, but one could argue that his headed goals are due more to his movement than the ability to outmuscle or out jump any Shawcrosses.

Fantasy outlook: A wait and see option. At some point this season he will be given a chance to prove himself. You know Shane Long will be out with some sort of injury, probably his wrist tape being too tight or something will put him out several weeks. J-Rod is coming back from a devastating injury and Pelle has been mentioned among those who suffered from one of the worst droughts ever recorded in history. At only 6.0 if he is given a chance maybe he can be a J-Rod type from two seasons ago and prove to be good value.

Come up with this team. Not totally happy with it, however i’d just like to get some thoughts?

Hi Tom. I’m loving the Hazard/Costa double up. It’ll be pretty handy to get Aguero in when he’s fit too. I think your 11 is fine but it is the bench that is a bit of a horror. I have no idea whether Coates is going to be a first team player so cant really comment on him as yet. Jerome, however, is proven to be a weak striker at this level. I believe he bagged a few in preseason but a quick look at his history spells him out. He’s highly likely to be a flop. Taylor is one who could be a good pick but with all his injury woes and uncertain game time, he’s one i would run a mile from.

It’s not far away from being a fairly healthy squad but, maybe lose Courtois and go with 2 4.5m’s? That 0.5m can at least get Taylor upgraded for now anyway.

It’s worth noting that last season, Costa played against Swansea twice in the league and bagged a brace in the first game and a hat-trick in the return game. Safe to say Swansea don’t like dealing with the one they call “The Animal” 😉

    Hey everyone,
Can’t believe its that time of year again! Thanks for all the articles been busy catching up. Off on holiday Sunday morning for a month so will miss the first two GW’s with little or no internet, going too put a team together and hope for the best.
How is everyone and what’s the latest on Aguero?

Hi ft, good to see you back on the forum mate. A month break you say? Well for some! Nice one. Re Aguero, there isn’t really a latest as far as i know. It’s just a case of wait and see what happens. With City playing Chelsea in GW2, you’d imagine Aguero will play vs WBA but, if he’s not ready then he’s not ready. Cant really say much more on it unfortunately.

Thanks NIN, good to be back even if its just a flying visit till I top up my tan then I will be here more often I’m sure.
Been here since the beginning but never entered any of the leagues and seem as I am not allowed to enter my normal leagues this year I think I will. Is it the main link on the home page I need?
Not sure what do to about Kun man I wish he wasn’t so fragile.

Aguero is actually fully fit, it’s just that Argentina made the final of the Copa America so he’ll miss most of preseason. Same with Sanchez and any other South American’s. They should all have time off. I do think Aguero will make GW1 but it is one to watch. If you’re not going to have internet access then maybe start without him just in case, but set up a way to get him in when you can.

Seems DDG is staying at MU. Real just bought Kiko as second goalie for 6mil (think he’s from Espanyol). Never really understood the interest in DDG anyway, Navas is already class.

Anybody else playing the Ultimate FPL game this season?

Didn’t get involved last year so was just wondering if anybody had any tips for it? Have made a first draft but as it is guaranteed to change before August 8th I don’t see much point in attaching it.

Good to be back though guys!

Hi Mr Bean, welcome back. I played it last season but I won’t be bothering this time. It was ok but just got a bit of a pain remembering to make changes every day over the weekend. That said if you need any specific advice or help on it I’m happy to chip in.

      • Mr Bean says:

        Innit,

Well i’ll be heading off for my first year of Uni so in between all of the weekend drinking I should have plenty of time to make changes. Just fancied something different for this year alongside the normal game which will still be my priority having done reasonably well the last 2 years.

I suppose my only question at the moment is do I want 25 starting players or should I sacrifice 3 or 4 players to beef up the rest? The rest i’m sure I will learn in due course.

        • inittowinit says:

If you grab about 20 starters that’s plenty or else you just start getting frustrated and also that amount will allow you to spend in the right places.

I never gamble, uFPL has to do with money right? Not my cup of tea. Takes the fun out of the game.

      • Mr Bean says:

        Raz,

Yeah, it’s £5 entry but I just fancied something different this year and the idea of ‘managing’ the team throughout the weekend seemed quite appealing.

Of course, I will probably forget about the changes most weeks before Christmas and will have given up by the January transfer window but until then, I am all up for it :cry-lol:

      NIN says:

FPL is complicated enough as it is! UFPL ain’t for me.

      • Mr Bean says:

        NIN,

Surprisingly I feel like UFPL could be a lot less frustrating than FPL.

Getting to choose 25 players and being able to make 7 substitutions a week makes me feel like its impossible not to score big every week…for the next 3 weeks at least.

Then when the season starts it will be a completely different story…

      Hi Mr Bean

I played last season and I enjoyed it but as Init referred to, it can be so easy to miss substitution deadlines which can leave a lot of points on your bench and leaving you kicking yourself.

I was actually 10th overall at one point so I did alright. I won’t play this year because of other fantasy commitments but my advice would be to go for at least 18 premium to mid-premium (?) players and the rest fodder, playing fodder if you can get it.

As long as your ‘big’ boys stay fit, you’ll be OK.

      Enjoy and good luck :smiling:
