FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW6 Welcome to FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW6 What a waster…. If we were to tell you that our team last week consisted of the following points then we would forgive you for both wondering exactly how far we had fallen and probably ducking in the process; 0, 1, 2, 2, 2, 3 & 3. Yep, that’s seven of them at three or less. If we told you we still beat the average and managed a jump in ranks you’d probably have to wonder how good our final four were. And the truth be told they were ok but even then not exactly world beaters. They got 6 (Kun), 9 (Mount), 12 (Pukki) and 18 (Salah as Capo). Or in other words 78% of our points. We ended up with 58 in total, 6 above the average and it helped us to another small rise in the ranks, this tim...[Read More]
FPL Devil’s Advocate Welcome to the second edition of Devil’s Advocate. I have asked popular site member/writer Smash to battle it out with me again. I asked him to pretend he had played his wildcard this week and to present that as his team going forward. So he went about building it and after I got a look at it, I tried to pick it apart a little. A lot…. Here is our discussion about his imaginary wildcard team. Team Smash Keepers Mito: I get it, Pope feels like the right buy and his fixtures are fixing to get considerably easier after a tough start. The man is second in saves so far, as many of us expected and top 5 in FPL points for keepers despite having faced Arsenal, Liverpool and Wolves in 3 of their first four. So I won’t sit here and argue with you and look a foo...[Read More]
FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW4 Form over faculties? Welcome to FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW4. GW3 was tough. Really tough. We brought in a couple of Ole’s babies and one eeked out an assist, the other sh*t the bed, to be frank. Martial got us 5 points for his troubles, Wan-B got us zero after a yellow card and a late goal conceded. Not every transfer decision can be perfect and Palace at home screamed clean sheet. In theory… Wan-B’s defensive compatriots didn’t fare much better as they amassed 7 points between the sorry lot of them. Our ‘left-field GW1’ pick McGinn got us an assist to keep things ticking along in the midfield budget basement. Our premium mids did what they do with Salah and Sterling (C) bringing home 31 between them. Up top ...[Read More]
FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW3 The ‘W’ word… Welcombe to FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW3. After a rather impressive 95pts in GW1 we were brought back down to earth in GW2 with a somewhat mediocre 52pts. We won’t complain though as it was 11pts above the average and resulted in a green arrow, lifting us to circa 83k. Two of our defenders accounted for close to 50% of our points. Lucas Digne returned an assist, a clean sheet and two bonus points. Digne’s points were of no surprise to us. However, John Lundstram picking up a goal, a clean sheet and three bonus points led to one of the management committee hollering for doughnuts! Aside from a goal from Raheem Sterling the rest of our team did SFA. We move onto GW3 with 2FT’s burning a hole in our pocket. Obviously...[Read More]
FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW2 Welcome to FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW2. What a nice start to the season with seven out of our eleven starters providing returns. We ended on 95 points which landed us about 130k in the overall standings. It is good to see all the hard work of coming up with a team payoff. Pay no attention to the fact that we got ridiculed for our team when we first put it out, just know that we corrected it and that the person responsible for picking Ceballos was punished, one less doughnut for him at the next committee meeting. At the keeper position we got a cool 8 points from Pope, one little detail that many may have missed, he had a key pass in the fixture vs Saints. Why buy Ederson when you can have Pope in your side passing for possible assists. We went ...[Read More]
FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW1 Whether you’ve been waiting with baited breath for our return, or you’ve simply stumbled across this by accident, let us give you a brief history of what we’ve done before, who we actually are, what we do and what to expect from this series of articles. ‘If you know your history…’ For anyone who missed our final wrap up article which we published after the 2018/19 season concluded we ended up with a record points score for us of 2,406 and also a highest ever rank of 5,757. Our history of ranks after 5 seasons now looks like this; 2014/15: 5,921 2015/16: 84,609 2016/17: 12,152 2017/18: 123,007 2018/19: 5,757 Nothing magnificent but also nothing too shoddy. 2017/18 aside perhaps, not quite sure what went so drastically ...[Read More]
FPL Devil’s Advocate Welcome to the first edition of Devil’s Advocate. I have asked popular site member/writer and overall good guy Smash if he would be willing to put his team up for me to try and poke holes in it. Naturally, he agreed, because being helpful on the site or in the background is who he is. A little about Smash fpl wise. Last season he finished 15K, he has been playing since the 06/07 season and has had 2 finishes inside 2K on top of a whole host of other good rankings. Hopefully in this article his team will also address some of the concerns that you may have and I think that what will you find is that it is ok to be unsure. Being ready to adjust as the pre-season continues and paying close attention to little details are the makings of a strong fpl manager and ...[Read More]
FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team; The Season Wrap Up Welcome to FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team; The Season Wrap Up. GW39…. What’s the opposite of teambuilding? We’ve all been there; be it at school, at Cub Scouts, at work or as part of a sports team. Some bright spark decides it’s raft building day in the naive hope that this somehow will strengthen bonds and ties and bring you all together into some sort of seamless unbeatable unit. Cue 11am on the edge of a freezing river and there are two distinct schools of thought already at play. The alpha males are out in force with their lofty ideas, staring one another down whilst some others stand back shrugging their cold shoulders with indifference and some others are cowering under the trees hoping nobody notices that...[Read More]
FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW38 Welcome to FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW38. Our GW37 was slightly better than average, but only slightly as we scored 52pts vs an average of 48. However we consolidated our position in the top 10k with a small green arrow to our new rank of 6,152, which is a season best. Top 5k is our aim then, our previous best being 5,921. Like many last week our highest scorers were in defence with TAA & Doherty posting double digit returns. Goals from Salah & Zaha were gratefully received and saved us from a shocker of a week. Our captain (Aguero) did bugger all. But he was in good c(K)ompany… With the final week upon us and just the one free transfer in hand and £0.2m in the bank, let’s see what magic the committee has conjured up as we seek ...[Read More]
FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW37 Welcome to FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW37. Bend over for Callum Wilson We had a decent GW36 in the end, having belatedly played our Bench Boost, and we ended up with 114 points; 45 above the average and a rank rise of over 5k to land in 7,129th place. The question over the piece though was really just whether we would have been better sticking with the original plan of BB’ing in GW35 and TC’ing in GW36. Surely none of our committee would be anal / bothered enough to go and check?! Well, apparently… oh yes they bloody well would! Apparently then, had we BB’d in 36 we would have got an extra 16 points (allowing for the (then) proposed transfer of Callum Wilson in and accounting for no TC points). This week we would have gai...[Read More]
FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW36 Welcome to FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW36. “I tender my resignation….” Oh dear, oh dear. What a shambles. We of course cancelled our proposed Bench Boost and opted instead to play our Triple Captain chip on Aguero. You know the rest. Kun contributed a mere single assist in 2 matches while Dunk & Duffy recorded a clean sheet apiece and came within a whisker of doubling that. At least it was Eriksen that broke Brighton hearts. Overall we scored 91pts which in all honesty is hardly bad. It was still 24 above the overall average but it could and should have been triple figures and those opportunities don’t come around often. Had we followed our original plan and bought Wilson and then Bench Boosted we’d have landed on 10...[Read More]
FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW35 Welcome to FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW35. It’s all in the math(s). Like many others we played our wildcard last week and like many others we had an absolute SHOCKER! With no representatives in the Friday night game our game-week kicked off at lunchtime on Saturday. The writing was on the wall when our captain, Son, was benched. A certain member of the management was rather smug about this. Son eventually climbed off of the bench and almost immediately picked up an assist to go with Eriksen’s assist and Loris’ clean sheet. 20pts from our Spurs trio left us feeling good about our wildcard. Little did we know that they would account for approximately 60% of our total score. We were lucky that Messer’s Duffy & Dunk didn’t score minus points as...[Read More]
