Fantasy Football Diary 2020/21 More hits than Elvis I can’t lie to you it’s not been a great four weeks, either in life nor FPL. Lockdown is back, the rain has been incessant it seems, and my FPL performance and mindset has been amateur at best, as you will soon discover. Still I’ve found a new friend in a heron, discovered Elvis and hopefully lost Trump….and also taken the biggest hit I’ve ever done in FPL. Monday 5 – Sunday 11 October International break. Nothing much exciting happened. The highlight was discovering a new love for Elvis. I’ve never been much of a fan but he appeared on a playlist and I loved it. Another sign of age maybe. I sold Sterling and bought Son for obvious reasons plus everyone said Son’s price would be rising, so may as well jump on...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 8 Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 8. These GW’s get earlier and earlier. We begin this one with a 4pm deadline on Friday as Brighton and Burnley go all Box Office on us. Ever that hardy and all that… The late game is at 8pm as Southampton begin life sans Danny Ings against Newcastle. Saturday sees the now normal succession of games beginning at 12.30pm with Everton hosting Man United and ending at about 10pm as West Ham and Fulham do battle in the late one (8pm KO). In between Palace and Leeds occupy the 3pm slot and Sheffield United go to Chelsea at 5.30pm. It’s another marathon on Sunday as West Brom and Spurs kick us off at 12pm, Leicester host Wolves at 2pm, it’s the biggie at 4.30 pm as Pep welcomes...[Read More]
FF247 FPL Team GW8 Welcome to FF247 FPL Team GW8. This is a democracy, goddamit! Anyone who has followed the FF247 Site Team article over the years will know that we’ve tried to do the right thing and follow a democratic voting process. Tried being the operative word, as you’ll probably also know that that’s difficult when you have one particular ‘leader’ who has a tendency to simply ignore said process if he doesn’t necessarily agree with it. At least in our case it definitely isn’t fraud, it’s balls out dictatorship! Let’s see how we got on last week… EIGHT POINTS BELOW THE AVERAGE! After being five behind the average in GW6, BEFORE you count the -4 we took back then, we have found ourselves yet again on the wrong side of the line in GW7, scoring a wholly uninspiring 45 points this...[Read More]
FPL Captain Picks Gameweek 8 Welcome to FPL Captain Picks Gameweek 8 Strange Times Let’s begin with our now usual round-up of how the team fared with their Captain Picks last time out. Four picks returned three goals, but suprisingly only one bonus point between the lot, which is odd. The only player who didn’t return was Son vs Brighton, which again felt odd. But we are living in strange times and is anything really a surprise these days? Kop: Ings. Got a goal for 12 Captain points. And then got himself injured. Ings that is, not Kop. Rosco: Kane. Also got a goal for the same tally. Kane that is, not Rosco. Init: Salah. Trumped Rosco and Kane in the stat-off. Some would call it a thrashing, 16-12. GP: Son. 4 points, enough said. Let’s go and see what Matt, Swirly, Smash ...[Read More]
Harry and Lloyd’s Fantasy Predictions GW8 Welcome to Harry and Lloyd’s Fantasy Predictions GW8. A quick glance at last weeks results and there’s definitely an air of, dare I say it… predictability about those final scorelines. That, of course, doesn’t tell the full story, it rarely does. However, we’re not focussed on the detail here, just cold hard results. Even Arsenal’s victory at Old Trafford does not seem out of place given the recent performances of the lacklustre Red Devils. Elsewhere there were a glut of home wins, with Leicester’s 1-4 victory at Elland Road the only other surprising result, but even then, is it? Whilst yours truly is still failing miserably week in week out both here and at the Bookies (please gamble responsibly kids...[Read More]
FPL Tips Gameweek 8 Welcome to FPL Tips Gameweek 8. Zihuatanejo … a little place on the Pacific Ocean. Do you know what the Mexicans say about the Pacific? No. They say it has no memory. If I get through this season in one piece that’s where I’m going, Zihuatanejo. The only thing that’s predictable about this season is its unpredictability. Some managers love it, others hate it. One thing is for sure, it keeps things interesting! Over the past few weeks, we’ve had some excellent Tips articles from the likes of Smash, James & Swirly so you all know which players you should be picking. Therefore, instead of the usual format of this article, I’m going back to my GW1 Tips article and I’m going to assess some of the players I tipped at that stage. Should you buy them, sell them or shoot the...[Read More]
FPL Fixtures Gameweek 8 How time flies, eh? Just over a year ago, I remember my Gameweek 9 article reflecting on numerous FPL accounts hacked and the ‘Wagatha Christie’ famous tussle between Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy, around the same time as the latter’s husband was contributing with three goals in the 9-0 rout of Southampton. Fast forward to now and the positive is that I now have a kitten trying to walk over the keyboard as I type this, though it gets dark at 5pm, it’s raining and howling a gale, it looks like there’s more time to spend at home and there’s longer to wait until any fans are allowed back in stadia. Still, all good things come to those who wait, huh? That reminds me, I must enjoy a pint of the black stuff in a pub before Thursday. So, as we look forward to the fixture...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 7 Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 7 It’s another four day GW as we begin Halloween weekend on Friday evening, fittingly with the Wolves howling against the Eagles. Don’t worry we won’t continue the theme any longer… Saturday sees just the 3 games with Sheffield United welcoming Pep and his lack of strikers at lunchtime. Just the one 3pm game again (Jeff will be turning in his grave) as Chelsea visit Burnley. Saturday finishes with Klopp and his lack of defenders hosting West Ham. Sunday begins with Villa vs Southampton at 12pm, followed by Newcastle vs Everton at 2pm, Man Utd vs Arsenal at 4.30pm and ends with Thelma & Louise vs Brighton at 7.15pm. On Monday the PL will again push our patience by as...[Read More]
FF247 FPL Team GW7 We go again… In what was undoubtedly a quiet week all round we scored 43 points in total, which was further damned by the -4 points hit we took to bring in Ezri Konsa (and Mohamed Salah). So in a week where the average score of 48 meant that anything like 60-70 points was somehow doubly good, we don’t have to concern ourselves with that. We just sit here and reflect that Salah had a goal ruled out for offside (correctly, we don’t pedal anti-VAR nonsense here) and had one off the post to grab us 4 points as Captain whilst Sadio Mane got 8 (which would have been 16!) We’ve said it from the start… MANE IS MORE EXPLOSIVE! (Slight in-joke, but see last weeks article for reference). The rest of the team then: the aforementioned Konsa conceded three and along with ‘...[Read More]
FPL Captain Picks Gameweek 7 Welcome to FPL Captain Picks Gameweek 7 Dusty Bin Having somewhat recovered their collective credibility in GW5 could our writing team go back-to-back successes? Erm… no. Kop topped the class this week with Kane, which probably says more about the others than him. He got 5. AT at least got a clean sheet from Bruno. Wonderful. He got 3. Jamesimmo went obvious with Salah. And got 2. Matt went with the usually ever so reliable DCL. And got 1. We couldn’t even complete the phrase ‘5, 4, 3, 2, 1’ properly. As for The Confessional it looked like an episode of Harry Enfield with so many (Egyptian) scousers involved. There were a couple of Kanes to buck the trend but no Sons to colour the mood. We shall let them off though as it was a strange ol...[Read More]
FPL Tips Gameweek 7 Welcome to FPL Tips Gameweek 7 This season has been nothing but haunting so far and this last game-week was more trick than treat. There will likely be even more shocks and horrors as we approach Halloween weekend. Those Spurs fans that have started with Kane and Son are cackling. Bamford suddenly has a similar conversion rate to Salah and “no end product” Zaha has started hauling. It’s been a bad start for me personally (starting with double Chelsea attack instead of double Spurs). So to all those that are struggling like me, FPL can change really quickly and the bad luck will turn soon enough. As for the tips: at least the penalties have eased up and I don’t have to write about all the penalty takers for the different clubs. Goalkeepers Walts forgot to reapply his mak...[Read More]
