The Boot Room – Rate My Team GW 5 – FPL Fantasy Football Premier League

Photo-02-01-2014-11-40-06-300x214 Game-week 4 is over and the International Break is under way, for many (including the FF247 team) this means wildcard time. So if you are looking for a bit of help on your new squad or simply feel the need to discuss any future transfers, you have come to the right place. We will also be receiving managers in need of a shoulder to cry on. Because frankly, after this 4 week span a tear or two is understandable.

So please feel free as ever, to post your thoughts, questions and feelings about whatever you want to, but in particular if you would like others to take a look at your team ahead of GW5 and beyond and offer their opinions. Please post or link it below and we are sure you will get plenty of feedback. Some of which may actually be constructive, but we can’t promise anything!

Hi guys. My WC is active my main decision was between Ayew and Gomis but with less options up front I went with the latter. I had to drop Mahrez to Albrighton which is a risk based on his ownership and not 100% with my keeper and defence. What do you think?

      Seems good. Pretty template.

      • gmclane says:

Yeah I thought the same a bit of a template team with little differential especially in attack. Thought of taking a risk by changing Pedro to a mid value like Payet and going a bit heavier in defence/gk.

any suggestions on going bigger in defence/GK or differentials in MF?

I share yor concern about Albrighton. He was substituted at around 70min for two games in a row now, and Leicester have quite a few other mids…

You already have Sinclair as 5th mid and Wilson as third striker. Maybe you should find the £ from somewhere to upgrade Albrighton to a 6.0 (not necessarily Mahrez)

    The B says:

Clean sheets are already very difficult to get this season, and the coming GW i will be fielding some of the weakest defenders. I have 1FT, but intend to keep Sktel because of the upcoming 2 easy home games after ManUtd.

Daniels is being reported to be out for a month, so should my FT be used on him, or should I just replace him with Richards/Ward for this GW?
Or should I replace Daniels with JEvans (have the exam amount in bank for this upgrade)?

Future moves are going to be Pelle > Wilson, and Payet > Pedro, so Ill be getting Pedro when Chelsea’s good fixtures start to roll.

    Any thoughts guys?

    FECK DANIELS.

any possible GKs to rise in price?

      jamesimmo says:

It seems not nishant… Hart’s probably your best bet.

Just as I feared it’s not a great period for price rises. The market tends to fizzle out during the break.

      • AT says:

James, would have thought Ayew, Gomis, Wilson will all rise by 0.2m this break.

Surprised by Pedro, feel like there is a reason for it, ie due to transferring recently.

        • AT says:

That’s also not accounting for the greatest number of transfers after the international break..

        • jamesimmo says:

I’m not sure why Pedro hasn’t risen yet either. Kolarov should rise by 0.2m too. Which is a decent list to be fair… but I guess I’m a bit greedy! laugh

Yeah they’ll be a flash of activity in the final couple of days hopefully.

I have Ayew to raise value but am going without Ayew & Gomis despite their form…

        • AT says:

          Of course, forgot about Kolarov!

I only need Sagna to rise once too before I drop him to make a 0.1m on him.

Not sure, feel like Ayew is a good punt. Might drop Mahrez after rising 0.6m!

        • nishant says:

my squad value is 99.3mn with 1.3mn in the bank.

          is it good enough?

        • Calvin Clyne says:

Nishant it’s probably about average for now. 90% of people who’ve played their WCs are likely to be at that value or above, while many who haven’t yet are actually below 100M in total.

        • The new rules cannot save WC for the January transfers. Which just leaves this transfer window as the #1 time WC are used.
WC transfers show in activity but do not count for price rise activation. Most of the activity on Pedro must be happening by WC.
Any shifts & price rises from the last matches seem to have happened, it is very probable that to get +0.2 now it will need the player to be held into GW5.

          Nishant – points make prizes.
So if your squad is scoring well its good enough & its value will rise. If its in the bottom third then you may have a hard fight on your hands as there are teams in the top third with TV 102+

Hey, new to the site could I have suggestions for my team, just traded out Jagielka for Kolarov and don’t intent on using my wildcard (waiting for double games weeks to start rolling in.) Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

      FC Sanchez says:

Welcome to the site Flocka. Decent looking team though a few things stand out:

      1. No need to have 2 expensive GKs. Pick Cech and sub Romero for a playing 4.0 or 4.5 (or vice versa).
      2. Ivanovic, though good in the past, isn’t getting any returns this season for the high price so downgrade to e.g. Azpilicueta.
      3. With the money saved from the above, you can upgrade e.g. Steven Taylor who’s game time is patchy to someone more nailed on.
      4. You can also get the likes of e.g. Aguero in for Rooney and/or Silva in for Hendo, etc..

      Hope this helps.

      • FC Sanchez says:

Actually, you need a little more $$$ to do no. 4 but you get the idea. In short, a tad too much spent on GK and Def which makes your Midfield lacking that one extra premium player (like Silva, Yaya, or Sanchez if he starts to deliver like last season). Aguero, although has had a slow start fantasy points wise, should be amongst the goals in good time so you’ll prolly need cash to get him in as well.

      inittowinit says:

Hi Flocka, that’s a decent move for Kolarov. You’ll have to wait and see what the status is on your 3 flagged mids now until next week as you have Berahino as back up to those but that saga may drag on for a while yet!

As for keeping the WC for a DGW then there’s no point for the pre-Xmas one as you won’t see a DGW this side of March I wouldn’t have thought.

      • FlockaFlame says:

So are you saying it’s smart to play WC now? I feel as though it is too early.

        • Andy says:

You don’t have to play it this GW Flocka but you have to use one before January or you lose it, it’s very unlikely that we’ll see a DGW this year.

        • FlockaFlame says:

Yes but there are something like 14 game weeks to go where I have the oppourtunity to use my wildcard and so much could happen that I feel its not smart to use it now. I am not the most informed person on this thread so if you could give me your reccomendation.

        • inittowinit says:

No mate, wasn’t saying play it now by any means. Although quite a few have (including the FF247 site team). Personally I’m holding mine for the same reason you state – there’ll probably arise another opportunity or week in the next 14 when I’ll say ‘dam, I could really use a WC this week’. I’m waiting for that moment.

Point on the WC really was just to say don’t hold it expecting a DGW as you won’t get one.
