Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 15 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 15 We shall begin with a bit of housekeeping here by way of explaining what to expect from us this week in terms of articles. Given that there is basically one free day in-between the end of GW14 and the start of GW15, and the same again at the end of the week going into GW16, time is of the essence and so we intend to publish a Captaincy article for both, along with the Site Team article, with of course the usual Live Match Chat for each. For both this article and the GW16 one we have simply asked four of our writers to tell us who they fancy for the armband and why. Simples, off we go then… Inittowinit – Jamie Vardy Phew! I finally get to speak about / promote the captain pick who wi...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 14 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 14. Buckle up folks as we’re going for a hell of a ride. Between this next deadline (November 30) and January 2, 2020 we are having 7 gameweeks spread over 34 days, 19 of which will have at least one Premier League game and FPL points to be accrued. In general footy terms it’s even busier with one more Champions League / Europa League gameweek (that’s without counting this mid week’s one) and the Milk Cup quarter finals. Only Liverpool will have a break from this with a trip to Qatar in mid-December for sun and cocktails. And two games in two days on different continents! And where does that leave us in FPL terms? Well, put simply, with so many games in such a short period we just know there will ...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 13 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 13. Three Liars and a Geordie You know when something starts off by seeming like a good idea, you commit to it and then you quickly realise that it’s got disaster written all over it but you’re already neck deep… We’ll be honest with you, that was sort of how we felt this week when we decided to split the captain article down and let four of our writers all have a stab at telling us who they are probably going to pick and then justify it. And then all four decided that they were going to write about Jamie Vardy… Anyway, short straws drawn and three of them were sent away to come up with an alternative, so basically what you have below is one genuine pick and three oth...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 12 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 12. Some weeks, the Captaincy article feels rather moot, this week is not one of those weeks. For the most part, many of us simply bounce our armband between Liverpool and Manchester City players, sometimes it works (Sterling GW10 – 11pts), sometimes it doesn’t (Sterling GW11 – 1 pt). With the league leaders facing the Champions in GW12, this feels like as good a week as any to step away from the routine. So, read on for who I think will be the players who’ll most likely reward your sense of adventure in GW12. Tammy Abraham – Palace (H) A goal and an assist in the 1-2 win over bottom of the table Watford in GW11 takes Tammy to 9 goals for the season, level with Sergio Aguero and second by just a s...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 11 Prefix Ahoy there, everybody. Once again, I’ve been given the honor of guiding you through this week’s most appealing captaincy options. As is the case most weeks, the captaincy tour’s first stop is Peps Wild Rotational Ride, before moving on to more predictable pastures. It’s time to have a look at this week’s captaincy candidates. Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 11. Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne, Sergio Aguero – Southampton (H) As always, no captaincy article is complete without a visit to the Pep Roulette. And, as always, predicting who’ll feel the wrath of Peps rotational fetish is nigh on impossible, especially considering that City’s League Cup matchup with Southampton that saw Kun complete 90 mins and Jesus 87. Go figu...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 10 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 10! I have been on a bit of a slump in the last few weeks after grabbing scores of 50, 32 and 25 over three gameweeks. This has been below the average score each week so I am not having the greatest of times in the world of FPL but it seems like most people are also doing poorly so at least there is that! In those three weeks, my captains have given me returns of 6, 2 and 10 which is terrible from the men with the armband, especially Pukki and his return of a measly 1 point that was doubled to give me 2! Most of the players I am planning on tipping in this article I don’t actually have as of yet but I will do my best to bring in one or more of them as I will be hoping that these players will score ...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 9 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 9. Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 9. International breaks are not good for the writers of captain picks articles, because they interrupt the flow in terms of Premier League games. If we want to compare data from, say, the last four gameweeks we need to go back one month. To put it in perspective, that’s when Teemu Pukki still scored goals. Yeah, that long. Not to mention that players go away from their clubs and countries to join a totally different competitive environment. They go through a lot of travel and emotions for 10 days and they then are suddenly back to playing on a cold rainy night in Stoke. Well, not exactly there, but you know what I mean. I don’t expect team form ...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 8 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 8 We always love a good ‘Capo-off’ and so this week we have asked four of our writers to give us their picks for GW8. We asked them not to necessarily name just who their own pick will probably be, but who they would pick given a blank canvas. May the best man win and all that… DMC – Aubameyang vs Bournemouth (H) He was born in France and that’s where he learned all the tricks of the football trade but few will know that he has played in Italy, more specifically in Milan’s U-19 squad with whom he excelled in the Champions Youth Cup held in Malaysia in 2007 scoring 7 in 6 games. Why is this relevant? It isn’t. But I was asked to write a whole paragraph on my captain pick. So,...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 7 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 7. It’s not that often we get two FPL veterans in the same studio so this smacked of ‘opportunity knocks’. As such we have taken the chance to do something a bit different with the captaincy article this week and grill them while we can on the whys and wherefores of how they actually pick their own captain. And then also get their picks for this week. How are your own captaincy picks going so far this season? Cookie: As Greavsie would say, ‘it’s been a game of two halves really’ – GWs 1-3 were good with Sterling, Auba and then Sterling again performing and then 4-6 have been what can only be described as a shocker in the guise of two Sterling blanks and what can only be described as a ‘FUBAR’...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 6 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 6. Spare parts are not always needed and I do enjoy just sitting about and watching all the others do the work, but occasionally they ask me to jump in and act like I know what I am doing. So when one of the guys was not able to write the captaincy article this week, the site turned to the ‘break glass in case of emergency’ writer. Last time I wrote this article… some time ago, I was told I was too negative about all my picks and having read it back, I really was. I spent the whole article telling all the readers why I wouldn’t captain the guy I had picked. Just had a thought, we can carry a transfer over, it be great if we can rollover a captaincy and triple up the next GW ...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 5 Hello again, everybody. And welcome back from what is perhaps the greatest tribulation of all for us FPL managers, the international break. For many, the start to the season has been tumultuous. One of the few actual positive sides of the international break is that it provides us with a bit of a respite from what is always an intense time in FPL. Traditionally, the first break also marks the activation of the first wildcard for many managers (although nearly 500.000 managers hit the button before GW3). For all of you currently on your wildcard, best of luck with the final days of tinkering. But finally, the break is close to over, and it’s time to have a look at this week’s captaincy candidates. Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 5...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 4 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 4. Ok, spoiler alert: I’m not going to make a case for you to hand the armband to Harry Kane in the North London Derby. I mean it’s not like he has 9 goals in 9 premier league games against them. You know, he doesn’t have 3 goals in 4 games played at the Emirates…well, you get the picture, stranger things have happened, FPL and all that, but with many a manager still hungover after his blank last time out at home to Newcastle I just think we should focus elsewhere. Also, you’ve probably rage transferred him out already for Aguero with a -4 to go along with it to fund the bloody thing so I’ll spare your nerves here. I’m also not going to cover any Liverpool players either and that’s because the usua...[Read More]
