MLS GW19 Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer Welcome to MLS GW19 Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer. Well, the MLS is kicking off on Tuesday this week – because why not? It’s the 4th of July, a notorious holiday for travelling, but let’s play some soccer that’s bound to have severe rotation issues anyway. Not only are players getting called up left and right for internationals still, but several teams will be coming into this round with just a few days rest. So yeah… I also have plans for the holiday, and writing out my typical ‘longer than it needs to be’ article isn’t on my list of things to do. So here’s what I can do for you all: we can list the game lines, give a few snippets of information that might be situationally relevant, and then I’ll give my captain picks. Other than th...[Read More]
MLS GW17 Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer Welcome to MLS GW17 Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer. Sort of… All by myself. Don’t wanna be. All by myself. Anymore… Oh, Celine. How apt! Well it turns out that we are all by ourselves this week! This could be a classic case of ‘you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone’ as the great man himself, Mr Guy Sanchez, has finally succumbed. He sends his sincerest apologies from his sick bed. If anyone has followed Guy’s fantasy football writing career they will know that this is the most robust of robust men. We once inadvertently asked him to write three major articles in three days. He didn’t bat an eyelid and all three arrived with precision. He’s written under duress and most cer...[Read More]
MLS GW18 Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer Welcome to MLS GW18 Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer. Did you all miss me last week? I wish that I could say that taking a break from writing FMLS articles was a relaxing ordeal – but truth be told, I was terribly sick for the whole week. I didn’t really believe a person could catch the flu in the summertime, but my kids brought back one last viral bomb from the public schools and proved me wrong. Hopefully your DGW’s went well last round. Apparently I set a team for myself and was cognizant enough to captain Almiron…so hooray for Nyquil making the savvy pick in my time of need. This round we don’t have to worry about DGW’s, but we do have a pair of byes to take note of (NYRB and Seattle). We also have international call-ups and domesti...[Read More]
MLS GW16 Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer Welcome to MLS GW16 Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer. Last week in FMLS was pretty formulaic. You either made your transfers and maintained roughly your same lot in the game… or you forgot to make your transfers and tumbled all the way to the bottom of the pack. Moving down was easy, moving up was nearly impossible. And what could we really expect from a week like that? With only six teams playing, there wasn’t a whole lot a person could do that was savvy enough to help their cause. Shame on the MLS for making a gameweek like that – but when we signed up for this game, we knew something like that would happen. So we’ll just leave it in the past. No sense really rehashing it now, is there? This week is a bit better – it’s act...[Read More]
MLS GW15 Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer Welcome to MLS GW15 Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer. This shouldn’t be a long article. I mean, how could it be? Nearly the entire footballing world is on hiatus right now to allow for international games to take place. And the MLS came close to joining that group – so close. As the MLS is wont to do, they gave 16 teams a bye week to allow for international play, but they just couldn’t figure out how to let those last six teams have a week off as well. I know, right? I don’t know what’s worse: either they couldn’t schedule the last six teams to have a break because they’re incompetent, or they did this on purpose in an attempt to constantly have league play, week in and week out, to try to stay relevant. Either way, it’s total crap. Because i...[Read More]
MLS GW14 Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer Welcome to MLS GW14 Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer. So here’s the deal, this article is going to be a bit different than normal because the lines aren’t out at all for the weekend games. Now, I could use alternate sites for some morning line predictions, but I’d like to stick with one site’s lines for consistency (Bovada). And this isn’t like last week where only one team played twice – in that case, we needed the extra information because Dallas left us no choice but to choose other teams in our squads. But this week, eight teams will be playing twice – and the lines are in for the first four games of the week to kick us off, so that should be enough to go on. And let’s be honest, with eight teams on a double, the most you’re going t...[Read More]
MLS GW13 Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer Welcome to MLS GW13 Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer. The 16/17 FPL season is now officially over. Countries all over the world are preparing themselves for international tournaments and qualifiers. In short, it’s starting to look like a typical summer season – unless you’re the MLS. The MLS will keep plugging along – and I’ll keep writing about it. If you’ve been on the fence about playing FMLS, build a squad for the summer. Why not? Every week is a wildcard and you’ll learn a little bit about a league that doesn’t follow any of the conventional methodology of football. Some people find that element fun – others find it terribly frustrating. But FMLS continues to be one of the most difficult fantasy games available either way. I’...[Read More]
MLS GW12 Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer Welcome to MLS GW12 Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer. Let me be honest with you, I’m not sure how many tips you all need this week. There are ten teams on a double this round and, inevitably, just filling your roster up with as many of these players as possible is going to yield some good points for you. In fact, the only way that you can really mess this up is to not make your transfers at all. I guess that might not be true either – you could very well pick the wrong double teams and get completely hosed. Maybe the real issue here is that as I’m writing this paragraph, there’s a very real part of me that wonders if I have the strength to write a DGW article with ten teams featured. That’s a lot of writing. And the real problem? DGW’s haven’...[Read More]
MLS GW11 Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer Welcome to MLS GW11 Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer. Just as I’m getting set to wind down my FPL season so that I can cut my workload in half, the MLS decided to really ramp things up on their end. There are DGWs in the MLS as far as the eye can see – so no immediate rest for me. In fact, next week, after my final Fixtures article of the year, the MLS decided to put ten teams on a double. What a way to celebrate the closing of a chapter, eh? More work. Maybe the only good thing that will come of this is that you’ll learn to hate DGWs as much as I do. How did you all like that rotation last week? Oh, you expected Giovinco to travel to Seattle? Foolish notion. You thought NYRB would play their starters to begin the series? Bah. And don’t even ...[Read More]
MLS GW10 Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer Welcome to MLS GW10 Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer. Let me vent a bit of frustration here for you. When I sit down to write an article, I like to be as prepared as possible. Now maybe you don’t agree with the points I make, but I always feel better knowing that the picks I suggest have at least have some kind of foundation. And to have the foundation to create a good article, you need time to study and write. And we don’t have a ton of study time with another DGW this round. As for time to write? That’s never an issue for me. Writing for me is the easy part (for having incredibly fat fingers and the hands of a caveman, I type like Forrest Gump runs: “like the wind blows”). Honestly, the owners of this site must think that I write for hours on end...[Read More]
MLS GW9 Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer Welcome to MLS GW9 Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer. Last week, I advocated pretty hard against taking any San Jose players in a double road game scenario. And even though they got that initial clean sheet in the back for good points, far too many people put their hopes into Wondolowski. And now we’d like to take a pause here in this article for those Wondo owners to think about how stupid that was. While you sit in silence and consider your actions, the rest of us will be pointing and laughing at you. It’s no less than you deserve. …1 …2 …3 I have to admit, I didn’t take much pleasure in laughing at you during the pause. The point of me writing a million words per week (which is probably 999,999 more words than this fantasy game d...[Read More]
MLS GW8 Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer Welcome to MLS GW7 Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer. We get a real DGW this week, and people are looking to set things right from their previous scores I’d imagine. Last week was a bit of a letdown for a lot of folks. The average score, on a full MLS schedule no less, was just 55 points. I’m not a superb mathematician, but an average score of 5 points per starting player has to be some kind of record low when everybody is using a WC at the same time. When you consider all the groaning and moaning people said about unlimited transfers making the game “too easy”, it’s almost satisfying watching so many teams buckle under the pressure of having to remake their team every week. Because the truth of the matter is that it’s harder than it looks. And I thi...[Read More]
