Fantasy Football Tips

The Tips article, which will be released on Thursdays, is where we take a look at which players should be considered for your team, both on a short-term and longer-term basis. While the more obvious football tips selections will, naturally, be included, we will also endeavour to find those hidden bargains and differentials that could set you apart from your rivals and help your performance in your mini-leagues.

Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 11

Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 11 Welcome to Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 11. The build-up to GW10 revolved around one man; Mo Salah. On Twitter I read with amusement as all those people who’d give it ‘the big un’ when they ditched him weeks ago, suddenly in a panic to bring him back ‘is it worth a -8 to bring him in? I’ll sell my least favourite child, anyone want to swap a kidney for him?’ etc. It was only two game-weeks back that Harry Kane caused a similar panic, and we all know how that went. Fortunately, Salah delivered. Sadio Mane matched Salah’s 15pt return, softening the blow for those who had stuck by the Senegalese instead, but looking through my mini-leagues there was still plenty who went with neither. Ouch. While half the FPL community worried about ‘no Mo’,  it was ‘...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 10

Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 10 Welcome to Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 10. I’ve stepped back in to the breach this week, out of turn, which I’m happy with. I’m using this as a form of therapy for you see, because the last time I wrote Tips, for Gameweek 8, I did OK I think, well at least 87.5% of my Tips returned immediately (you won’t go back and check or do the maths!). Of the 16 names I tipped, only really two that I tipped never returned – Anthony Knockaert and Harry Kane. I’ll let you work out for yourselves who I brought in with my two transfers that week! So this week may not be as much who I tip below, but who I actually bring in myself, right? I’ve been having one of those FPL weeks now for about two months! (Positive Mental Attitude… Positive Mental Attitude… Pos...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 8

Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 8 Welcome to Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 8 Having now read both Inittowinit’s tremendous Fixtures article and the Captain’s focus superbly supplied by Rosco, I feel like I have been painted in to a corner a bit this week. If this article was in a boxset this would be a filler episode! So I thought, what should I do if I can’t write screeds about players without seeming repetitive and you all falling asleep of boredom? Thenceforth came a condensed Tips article where I selected four quick players by position and did a couple of paragraphs about them – this was done without my usual research (no laughing at the back) and therefore I may read this back myself after publishing and question my own credentials/sanity. Here now, are my excuses in ascending n...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 7

Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 7 Who’ll be the first manager to get fired? Could the sack race be won by Mark Hughes, as his Southampton side have won one game in six and conceded five goals in their last two? Or perhaps it might be Jose Mourinho as the trials and tribulations of being the Manchester United manager continue, having drawn 1-1 with Wolves and been knocked out of the Carabao Cup? Maybe even Neil Warnock, with no funds available, could be for the chop as his Cardiff team search for that first win and are reminded about the danger of relegation daily? Personally, I fear I would have been given the sack from my own FPL team by now this season, had there been a board overseeing my performance! A wildcard in the last gameweek seems to have stopped the rot and so there are hopes fo...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 6

Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 6 Hello everyone and welcome to Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 6. I came across the following quote from Ian Holloway during the week and it sums up many a fantasy football team, “To put it in gentleman’s terms, if you’ve been out for a night and you’re looking for a young lady and you pull one, you’ve done what you set out to do. We didn’t look our best today but we pulled. Some weeks the lady is good looking and some weeks she’s not. Our performance today would have been not the best looking bird but at least we got her in the taxi. She may not have been the best looking lady we ended up taking home but it was still very pleasant and very nice, so thanks very much and let’s have coffee.” With Matt deciding to concentrate on the ‘weak’ teams in t...[Read More]

To Salah or not to Salah…

To Salah or not to Salah… So I set out to write a post on the “to Salah or not to Salah” debate as I was sure many would hit the wildcard button during this international break. We all know what Salah did last year and that he’s started this season with consistency, but no double-digit returns. The question, then, is whether investing 13m in him is worth it? As I worked on this comment, I ended up expanding the conversation in order to explore which ‘heavy-hitters’ you should fit in your squad, particularly if you hit that itchy wildcard button during this international break. If so, you’ve hopefully been playing the WC-shuffle in order to gain team value so that you can reach slightly higher than the rest of us. For me you can only really afford 2 or 3 heavy-hitters (10m...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 5

Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 5 Hello everyone and welcome to Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 5. I wrote my introduction copy for this article a few days ago. In it I lamented the International Break, threw in a few clichés about it being far too soon for FPL managers, and chucked in a few funnies about Luke Shaw banging his head, and how it may do more good than harm in his case. Then I read Cookies Fixtures article where he talked about the International Break in his intro, AT did likewise in his Captains article. All of which left my intro a little redundant. So here I am, a man with no intro, but in telling you why I have no intro, I have in effect given you an intro. How about we just get to the tips, eh? Goalkeepers I’m not a fan of rotating keepers. I’ve tried it, never works. Every...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 4

Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 4 Hello everyone and welcome to Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 4. It’s been a long time since I’ve done this – writing for this site, that is. But I think I’ve got my hands properly on the home row of the keyboard, and I think that I’m ready to add unnecessary letters to common words again. All that’s left to do now is to just do the work. Here’s the thing though, the work ain’t easy this year, is it? Just look at the league table. Granted, it’s a limited sample size, but just look at it. If you’d have bet that Watford would be Top 4 going into September, you could’ve made yourself a nifty little profit there. And West Ham, seemingly buying some key pieces to bolster their squad, sit dead last. C’mon. The only thing that even makes sense anymore i...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 3

Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 3   Hello everyone and welcome to your Tips article for this Fantasy Football Gameweek 3. It may just be me but at the time of sitting down to write this, I get the feeling that there have been a number of early moves made this week which in fact had me questioning the wisdom of putting so much effort in to such an article at any depth at all. Well, that and a general lethargy this week. But lucky for you, the kids are back in school and I suddenly and very definitely, not coincidently, have bundles of energy and I’m ready to take you through my fifteen (or so) names with my usual gusto. Based on the impression I have gleamed from following the site chat and the range of FPL heads on twitter, I took to the FPL site to check the most transferred in player...[Read More]

PlayON Picks – Daily Fantasy Sports

On top of playing for a share of cash prizes, you’ll also win £5 if you finish ahead of the FF247 team’s lineup. To help you with your lineup, we had PlayON’s resident daily fantasy Premier League expert stop by to share his top picks at each position. The 2018-19 Premier League season is two weeks old, which means we’ve had 20 games to scope out who the must-have players are for our daily fantasy squads. Which superstars are firing again this season? Who is the ‘Mr. Reliable’ that will anchor your team? Who are the lesser-known cheapies that are set for a breakout without breaking the bank? These are all questions that you need t...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 2

Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 2 Hello everyone, it’s great to be back writing for another season – though, with this being the earliest in August I have written an article, it’s definitely been the hardest to write! So, looking back to Gameweek 1 and there is a bit of a correlation between the most owned players and points scored, in that hardly any of the favourites among the FPL competitors went on to score highly! De Gea, Pickford, Trippier, De Bruyne and Kane collectively managed five points between them. Look, then, at the highest points scorers and McCarthy is owned by just 1.4 per cent, Mendy has got 13.4 per cent of managers putting their trust in him and Wilson has just 5.3 per cent. So, don’t feel bad if your first week didn’t go to plan, a lot of other managers will have fared ...[Read More]
