Fantasy Football Tips

The Tips article, which will be released on Thursdays, is where we take a look at which players should be considered for your team, both on a short-term and longer-term basis. While the more obvious football tips selections will, naturally, be included, we will also endeavour to find those hidden bargains and differentials that could set you apart from your rivals and help your performance in your mini-leagues.

A Midsummer Night’s Fantasy … (Football Musings)

Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 2 Two phrases I’ve learned and hated my entire adult life – ‘think outside the box’ and ‘introspect’. As though it mattered much, since my own life was involved in finance and statistics, where you actually look inside ‘boxes’ (and not those of the nice kind mind you) and introspecting gets you called a lackadaisical weirdo. We left that to the office shrink. But a new season of fantasy football is upon us. A lot of bets have been placed. Some (unjustifiable) ego and pride are at stake. Many of us are just a tad bit short of a suicidal Japanese-workaholic. And the only thing keeping us from tearing our hair out and sticking a pen in Slick Joe’s eye, as he lathers up yet another pretty new intern with his smooth words, hair, gestures and just the right touch o...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 1

Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 1 Where have the last three months gone? May 13th only seems like yesterday. It was a summer dominated for much of us by events in Russia. England won a penalty shoot-out and football nearly came home. The likes of Germany and Spain disappointed while the French eventually triumphed. But that’s all in the past. It’s been an interesting summer in the Premier League. Of last season’s top 6, Chelsea and Arsenal have new managers. Jose is still moaning. Spurs are yet to add to last season’s squad. Liverpool have spent a fortune. And, City are still the ones to beat. Elsewhere, Everton have spent £50m on a player who disappeared last season. Mike Ashley continues to be a favourite amongst the Geordies. Last but certainly not least, Colin is back! All of this and m...[Read More]

New Fantasy Premier League Transfer 2018/19 – Max Meyer, Alfie Mawson, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Yoshinori Muto

New Fantasy Premier League Transfers 2018/19 Max Meyer, Alfie Mawson, Alexsandar Mitrovic and Yoshinori Muto Welcome to New Fantasy Premier League Transfers 2018/19 – Max Meyer, Alfie Mawson, Alexsandar Mitrovic and Yoshinori Muto. This edition is very much the ‘M’ edition so is probably why they recruited me to write it. M is the 13th letter of the Alphabet and this certainly feels like my 13th article of preseason but c’est la vie! Here we have two familiar faces and two not so familiar ones. AT was a bit premature on his Fulham article as they have gone and signed two names that are experienced in the Premier League in Alfie Mawson and Aleksandar Mitrovic. The other two names you may not know too well and that is Max Meyer to Crystal Palace and Yoshinori Muto to Newcastle. Each of these...[Read More]

New Fantasy Premier League Transfers 2018/19 – Lukasz Fabianski, Jack Wilshere and Felipe Anderson

New Fantasy Premier League Transfers 2018/19 Lukasz Fabianski, Jack Wilshere and Felipe Anderson Manuel Pellegrini has been a busy boy since taking over from Moyesie at West Ham. A re-invention of the squad was required after a season of underperformance last season and this article will focus on three of the Hammers ‘newbies’. Keeper Lukasz Fabianski was so desperate to leave Wales that he not only travelled the length of the M4 but half way around the M25 too, Jack Wilshere took the slightly shorter route from North London to come ‘home’, while Felipe Anderson decided that he’d rather ply his trade in Stratford than Rome. It’s a strange old world but the lure of Pellegrini was clearly strong for all three so let’s have a look at all three to determine if any are viable FPL possibilities....[Read More]

New Fantasy Premier League Transfers 2018/19 – Richarlison and James Maddison

New Fantasy Premier League Transfers 2018/19 Richarlison and James Maddison Hello and welcome to New Fantasy Premier League Transfers 2018/19 Richarlison and James Maddison. We continue our look at new Premier League transfers by focusing on two promising mid-priced attacking midfielders, namely Everton’s Richarlison and Leicester’s James Maddison. Richarlison you will likely remember from his time at Watford last season while you may not know so much about James Maddison unless you followed the Championship. Both midfielders are priced at 6.5mln and would appear to offer good value for money. They both also have the advantage of starting the season at their new clubs with decent looking fixtures. Richarlison Everton FPL price: 6.5mln Many of us hold fond memories of early seas...[Read More]

Fantasy Premier League Promoted Teams Analysis FPL 2018/19 Wolves

Fantasy Premier League Promoted Teams Analysis FPL 2018/19 Wolves We look at the reigning Championship winners Wolves who lit up the second tier of English football by winning 30 of their 46 games, scoring 82 goals and conceding 39. This saw them finish on 99 points and so close to breaking the 100 mark. The Wolves ownership have been showing their intent and ambition in recent seasons with the big-name signings of Diogo Jota, Ruben Neves, Rui Patricio and Joao Moutinho so a similar season to last wouldn’t be too much of a surprise. This team is full of youth and is led by Nuno Espirito Santo, a Portuguese manager, who has organised a well-oiled machine and I would hazard to call them the poor man’s Man City (no disrespect intended!). What I mean by this is Wolves are a side that plays att...[Read More]

Fantasy Premier League Promoted Teams Analysis FPL 2018/19 Fulham

Fantasy Premier League Promoted Teams Analysis FPL 2018/19 Fulham We continue our look at the promoted teams with Fulham. It was only when Lucas Piazon returned from injury, Aleksandar Mitrović was brought in on loan, and Ryan Sessegnon was pushed further up the field that Fulham began to turn last season around. With the recent announcement that the club has agreed terms with Newcastle United for Mitrović, things are starting to look up for Fulham after a nervy start to the transfer window. Let us have a look at their fantasy prospects. FIXTURES (Crystal Palace (H), Spurs (A), Burnley (H), Brighton (A), Manchester City (A), Watford (H)) The visit of Crystal Palace to kick-start the campaign is, on paper at least, probably Fulham’s easiest fixture until Watford in Gameweek 6. Early road tr...[Read More]

Fantasy Premier League Promoted Teams Analysis FPL 2018/19 Cardiff City

Fantasy Premier League Promoted Teams Analysis FPL 2018/19 Cardiff City We start our look at the promoted teams with a trip across the Severn Bridge to Cardiff. Neil Warnock’s men finished second behind Wolves in last season’s Championship which sees them return to the top flight for the first time since their relegation in 2014. The Bluebirds kept 19 clean sheets in 46 games last term, with 11 of those coming at home where they won 16 out of 23 matches, losing just three. The Welshies scored 69 goals with only midfielder Callum Paterson reaching double figures. Junior Hoilett and Kenneth Zohore both scored 9, while interestingly defender Sean Morrison scored an impressive 7 goals. Fixtures The fixture computer has handed Cardiff a straightforward looking introduction into the Premier Leag...[Read More]

FPL Interview – Plans & Strategies

Fantasy Football Interview – Plans & Strategies Welcome to Fantasy Football Interview – Plans & Strategies. As we all continue to tinker with our squads and work out how to include as many of the top players as possible we thought it would be helpful and interesting to pick the brains of some veteran and well-known FPL players. By veteran I mean by way of experience in playing FPL, not in seniority in years! I have to admit to being quite excited at getting our selected panel together – between them they have numerous finishes in the top 1k, throughout the season they spend hours helping others with sound FPL advice as well as entertaining thousands on their various sites or twitter with merciless banter and wit. Allow me to introduce them to you. FPL Fly – Fly has be...[Read More]

After a loss to Dallas, Atlanta United bounced back with a win at Philadelphia to take them six points clear at the top in the East. NYCFC got their revenge in the Hudson River Derby and won over NYRB to move back to secon...[Read More]

MLS Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer GW19

MLS GW19 Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer As the World Cup tournament enters the crucial knockout stage, MLS has decided to impress us with a humongous double gameweek (DGW). 11 teams are playing twice and it all kicks off just two days after the last round finished. NEW FF247 MLS LEAGUE For anyone who missed it we have decided to start up a fresh FF247 MLS league which began in GW13. Please feel free to join in and it’s a great time to do so as a quirk of the new MLS rules means they have split their season in two. The first part expires in GW22, not 17 as was widely expected, given as that’s what they said originally in the rules! Because MLS, and all that. You ...[Read More]
