Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 9 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 9 We start as always by casting an eye backwards to the previous week to see who drew the golden ticket and who, the short straw. Gameweek 8 Review Salah v Watford (KRALIN – 13 points via 1 goal, 1 assist and 2 BPS) Son v Newcastle (SMASH – 9 points via 1 goal and 2 BPS) Foden v Burnley (ROSCO – 6 points via 1 assist) So no one blanked but still some did a lot better than others huh? Each week it just feels like it’s a race to select Salah for writing duties in order to gain some credit in this column the next week. Whatever we can do to massage these massive football/FPL egos at FF247 towers we will. A happy ship and all that… Kralin – you da man! Let’s se...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 8 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 8 Last week was supposed to be all about which of Big Rom or Big Ron would beat up more on some beleaguered opponents. Antonio was a popular pick outside of that pair as he was supposed to be the star man in a high scoring affair with Brentford. Vardy was the outside pick if anyone felt a bit more daring. None of that quite worked out as expected, but ultimately football would be boring if things were always that simple. Last week’s ‘results’ table ended up as follows; 1. Matt – Vardy, 16 points. A goal and a couple of bonus points saw Matt and Jamie take top spot by a country mile. 2. Rosco – Big Rom & Big Ron, 6 points combined. Our sneaky Geordie thought heR...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 7 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 7 Last week was billed as a straight two way battle between Ronaldo and Salah and we offered up a couple of alternatives just to liven the party up. As it transpired neither of them took top spot. In fact one one of them stunk the place up so much he even finished behind… Conor Gallagher! Last week’s result; 1. Mito – Antonio, 16 points. Antonio pipped Salah despite both grabbing a goal but the bonus point Gods pointed the way of the West Ham man. 2. Kralin – Salah, 14 points. He may have the won battle but he didn’t win the war. 3. Cookie – Gallagher, 8 points. Perhaps just proving that even the most left-field of picks can outscore anyone on their day. 4. Rosco...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 6 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 6 What is it they say, ‘first up, best dressed’? Swirly was on the ball early last week and picked Salah for his captaincy piece. Leaving Kop to pick Ronaldo (his best boy) and Smash Lukaku (his hero) and your author (GP) went with …… Smash. So without reading on you can guess who was the ‘worst’ of the week. In fairness, I really fancied Lukaku this week and with 3 Chelsea goals and zero involvement from their main striker, that’s rather unlucky for me Smash. TRUST THE PROCESS NOT THE RESULT, TRUST THE PROCESS NOT THE RESULT! Yeah Salah did the business so very well done to Swirly – the Egyptian King posting 12 points (24 as captain) in his third dou...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 5 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 5. As is customary we review the previous week’s Captains selections to see who took Ronaldo and who took Lukaku who had the best pick from the vast array of attacking talent on show. And it was a tie! Smash took his boy Lukaku and Rosco took his boy Ronaldo and wouldnt you just know it?! Eachy peachy with both of these heavyweights posting 13 points and sharing the spoils. Two goals and three bonus points each. Wowzers! This therefore meant that it was always going to be really difficult for our third leg to get even close to this and so Kralin decided to select Michail Antonio and get so far away from the two titans, that he actually slipped into minus points. (Sorry Kralin but -1 (-2 there...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 4 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 4 GW3 seems like a distant memory now but even so we shall have our usual round-up / publuc shaming of the writers from that one before we move onto the Ronaldo show this week’s selections. 1. Matt – Antonio, 11 points. A goal and an assist was enough to see Matt take first place in GW3. 2. Rosco – Son, 10 points. Rosco was just pipped at the post as Son could only manage a goal and 2 bonus points. 3/4. – James – Benrahma / Ivan – Bruno, 2 points apiece. Both got diddly squat. It’s fair to say that GW3 was a bit quiet on the points front, let’s go see if this weeks Capo pickers can rustle up a few more for us. Kralin – Antonio v Southampton(A) I...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 3 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 3 “Please, please come back off of holiday, Init”. Said nobody ever. Until this week. I left the run of the roost to Rosco. Having previously been on the wrong side of my… end of tether rants I thought I’d be leaving it in careful, caring, soft hands. How wrong could I be! I laughed long and hard when I saw his final attempt to rally the writing troops. It’d be unfair to copy and paste said rant on here… But that’s how I roll… “For the love of fucking god will someone take defenders or keepers? If we don’t then it’s back to full individual articles and that shit is hard. Work with me people!!” Let’s go see if he got enough people enthused to write a Capo piece. Whether I have any writers left on my...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 2 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 2 As is customary in these articles we start by running the rule over the previous week’s selection, So, how did they do? Whilst Mito offered a compelling argument for Riyad Mahrez, in reality, it was a straight shootout between Swirly (Bruno) and yours truly (Salah). In the wider sense, it wasn’t much of a battle. When the game updated on Friday night, early data reported a whopping 92% had gone Salah (c) – crikey. Bruno kicked off the ‘battle’ in the Saturday lunchtime fixture at home to Leeds, and as the final whistle blew, Bruno had amassed a whopping 40pts to those who had handed him the armband. 3 goals, non from the penalty spot – go figure. Game on, and the less said about the B...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 1 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 1 And off we go again… We hope this article finds you safe and well and almost on the other side of things. Much has changed in the past 18 months or so; our way of living has altered and people have had jobs and personal circumstances change. At FF247 Towers we tried to maintain a constant rhythm throughout it all and we pretty much nailed it. We weren’t able to have our regular flow of articles due to the deadlines / gameweeks all seeming to run into each other but we did our best in terms of posting articles whenever there was a gap that allowed us to do so. We are blessed with a fantastic team of dedicated writers and they all helped us hurdle the obstacles and we can’t thank ...[Read More]
FPL Captain Picks Gameweek 38 The final(ly) curtain As is now traditional (we did it at least once before anyway…) we have asked our entire team to come together for the final Capos article of the season, as some sort of final curtain call, before we draw down the veil on 2020-21. Which, quite frankly, is something a lot of us would like to do in many respects, not just from an FPL perspective. What that means is our usual ‘Confessional’ but with an invitation for them all to say a few words, be that about their captain for GW38 or simply anything else they would like to. So without further ado… The confessional… DMC — Salah or Antonio… A few years back, after a disappointing GW, someone said on site “why do we keep playing?”. And someone replied: “becau...[Read More]
FPL Captain Picks Gameweek 37 It’s probably fair to say that not many of us got quite what we expected or hoped for out of GW36. It was short, sharp and brutal. GW37 does at least have a full compliment of teams to choose from. Whether that will make it much better remains to be seen, as rotation will probably be at a premium again with the short turnaround after the past weekend and also ahead of the next one. As for our GW36 picks it was feast or famine really. And to pay on a previous theme from GW35 the bleeding obvious once again won the day; 1. Matt – Salah, 20 points. A solitary goal was enough to take vicyory this week, which probably says a lot. 2. Kop – Kane, 16 points. Our only other goalscorer but Kop and Kane owners alike would have wanted a tad more. 3. Hors...[Read More]
FPL Captain Picks Gameweek 36 I offer no stats, just dreams Bruno was of course the most captained player in DGW36, the game’s top points scorer (not sure if he was at that point actually, but he is now and we couldn’t really be arsed checking if he was then in all honesty, so just go with it…) and with a potential treble on his hands he was always going to be, even if we all knew deep down that he couldn’t possibly start in all three, as much as Ole does love to flog him! Even so he managed to start two of them and was still flung on against Leicester in an attempt to rescue a lost cause, to no avail. He still got a couple of goals though along the way, as he does. Despite all this the job of our Captaincy writing team is to present you with some options across the...[Read More]
