Fantasy Football Fixture Analysis Gameweek 2

Fantasy Football Fixture Analysis Gameweek 2 By the time that you read this, things — fixtures — will have happened! Certain players (most probably) brought in double-digit hauls for their owners; several favourites (most likely) got booked. The culprits may well seem obvious now, but it wasn’t even remotely clear on Saturday morning. Indeed, whilst I’m writing to you from the past — well, that can be said of any given passage, but it’s often fresh off the print — we’ve now observed ~2.105% of the new [F]PL season, albeit not a full Gameweek yet. That leaves us with just under 98% of the season to chase: almost quite literally, then, all to play for! One step at a time, though, or perhaps three to four steps; Premier League fixtures (even in the crowds’ absences) will never cease to functi...[Read More]

For those of you new to it it’s basically our version of Soccer Saturday but without any annoying flat earthers, big nosed scousers or smarmy Scotsmen. Oh, hang on… The new season kicks off on Saturday lunchtime with a newly bullish Arsenal taking a trip to see whether Fulham learned any lessons from the last time they mixed it with the big boys. This is followed by just the one 3pm game as Palace host Southampton. Saturday finishes with the Champions Liverpool welco...[Read More]

FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW1

FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW1 Knee deep in… It seems like only yesterday that we were picking our GW38+ team… oh, hang on. Well, we might not be refreshed but we are certainly back regardless and much like many an FPL manager we have been struggling to find those dirt cheap defenders, whilst being knee deep in premium mids and wondering how on earth we then go about accommodating the Manchester contingent once they bother to grace us with their presence. Let’s go and see how we have decided to tackle it all, but first a quick recap on how last season ended for us: 2019/20 Result Could have been better, could have been a lot worse. We wrapped up the season in GW38+ with 65 points. That saw us get a small red arrow but we only dropped a few thousand places. Overall we landed at ...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 1

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 1 Captain choices often make or break a game-week, nail it and you can be in the forties before you even begin to look at the rest, fail it and that 2 or 4 pointer just stares back at you all week long, haunting your very being. It’s probably the one decision you flip-flop on the most too, especially when you own 2 or 3 of the (seemingly) obvious picks for that particular week. It’s crystal ball time really but it can also be an informed choice, you simply need to learn to live with the consequences, but if you can back up your decision with some solid logic then that often makes it easier to accept the outcome. Which is why we do this article as we aim to give you some solid info and reasons that you can hang your hat on. What to expect ...[Read More]

FPL Tips Gameweek 1

FPL Tips Gameweek 1 2019/20 had it all, VAR, Covid-19 and Liverpool won their first title in 30 years. What can we expect from 2020/21? Well neither VAR nor Covid-19 have gone away. Neither have Liverpool! Can they repeat last season’s heroics? I’m not so sure, but that’s for another day. What of FPL? Apparently, the prices have gone up and we can’t afford all of the players we want. I must be suffering from Déjà vu. In all seriousness though, we moan about the prices at the beginning of every season and once GW1 starts, we find something else to moan about. Something else that never changes is my hatred of writing an intro, so onto the main show… Goalkeepers & Defenders Historically I always treated goalkeepers and defenders separately. However, what invariably happens is I end ...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Fixture Analysis Gameweek 1

Fantasy Football Fixture Analysis Gameweek 1 No pressure! Here I am with the first of the ‘traditional’ articles run at FF247, at a time where there is still great upheaval from the ‘C’ word – by ‘C’ word, I, of course, mean Covid-19 and not the politician who first comes to your mind! However, at least we have the benefit of the return to three substitutions, along with a more normal-looking – albeit delayed – calendar. That is great news to me anyway, as that crazy period when the league restarted, where I was also on holiday and had less FPL focus, saw my rank plummet to the worst finish in seven years. So, looking ahead – as we particularly must do at the moment – I trust you are all ready for the rollercoaster that will no doubt be the season?! Not that there has been much of a wait! ...[Read More]

PROMOTED TEAM ANALYSIS – WEST BROMWICH ALBION

PROMOTED TEAM ANALYSIS – WEST BROMWICH ALBION West Pereira Albion – Preview 2020-21 West Bromwich Albion are back in the Premier League! Only two seasons on from finally being relegated after eight consecutive years struggling for points in the bottom half of the table of England’s top flight, they are back. After losing the Championship playoff semi-final to Aston Villa on penalties two seasons ago, they took no such risk this term clinching direct promotion by finishing in second place whilst being the second best in the league for goals conceded and joint second for goals scored. This means they’ll either qualify for Champions League by finishing in second place this year or that they will be the second team to get relegated! I suspect they won’t be listening to the Champion...[Read More]

FPL Devil’s Advocate

FPL Devil’s Advocate Season 2, Episode 1 Welcome to Devil’s Advocate. Smash and I have reunited and decided to have a bit of a tussle over his FPL team again this season. We promise that no tea cups will be harmed in the making of this article. Hopefully his team will also address some of the concerns that you may have and I think that what you will find is that it is OK to be unsure. Being ready to adjust as pre-season continues and paying close attention to little details are the makings of a strong FPL manager. As you will see, Smash is seemingly changing his mind mid-sentence. 😉 Just kidding, sort of. Anyway, let’s get to it. Team Smash Keepers Mito: OK Smash, I am not going to waste too much time on your keepers. I mean when someone spends 8.5mln on two players they ...[Read More]

Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! – Fantasy Premier League 2020-21

Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! – Fantasy Premier League 2020-21 Guess who’s back, back again…. With the FPL season getting closer and closer to starting it is of course time for Bore Off to also kickoff. I have gathered three of my esteemed colleagues: GP of Scottish fantasy fame, Rosco of FPL fame and… Cookie. I asked for the site members to provide any questions they wanted answering, and did they ever! Some really great stuff was asked and hopefully this edition of Bore Off can provide you with some good answers to said questions. I want to send a special thanks to Smash, Stone Frog, Tornado, Silvers, Chipster and dennisim for providing the bulk of the questions, they basically wrote it for me. Well, without further ado, let us see what the boys had to say. Thanks for readin...[Read More]

PROMOTED TEAM ANALYSIS- LEEDS UNITED

PROMOTED TEAM ANALYSIS- LEEDS UNITED Premier League football returns to Elland Road this season bringing to an end Leeds United’s sixteen-year absence from top-flight football. The road back has not been easy, thirteen seasons in the Championship, three in League One. The blame for their fall from grace can largely be put down to spectacular financial mismanagement, for those too young to remember, they essentially spent a boatload of cash on players they couldn’t afford in the hope of Champions League success, and then failed to qualify. Oops. That was then, this is now. They are back where (at least where Leeds fans believe) they belong. Manager Marcelo Bielsa’s side lit up the Championship, few could argue that they deserved it this time round, having come so close in seasons gone...[Read More]

PROMOTED TEAM ANALYSIS – FULHAM

PROMOTED TEAM ANALYSIS- FULHAM Introduction The Premier League is back and with it comes three new teams, West Brom, Fulham, and the long-awaited return of Leeds. I will be focusing on the team that have returned at the first time of asking, Fulham. The Cottagers from southwest London were FPL options for us only two seasons ago. I think we all remember having Aboubakar Kamara as our 4.5mln bench fodder forward, with Anguissa being a 4.5mln midfield bench fodder. Fulham were that team we used as cheap budget options, but this season will be different. Kamara is now a 5.0mln midfielder and Anguissa is coming back from a loan at Villareal so I don’t know if Scott Parker will slot him straight back into the side. Scott Parker firstly took over as caretaker manager but couldn’t keep Fulham in ...[Read More]
