FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW2 DODGED A BULLET All that tinkering and furore ahead of GW1 and we didn’t even select the most obvious player. But we had our reasons and we felt justified, although watching Salah open up with a hat-trick was a tad galling for us and no doubt all of the other non-owners out there. In retrospect we probably got away with it better than most as we scored 59pts vs an average of 50. Captain Aubameyang opened up with a rare goal on his travels and 7pts (doubled) is acceptable and far from a failure. Mitrović on the other hand was a complete shocker as he couldn’t even claim a start and got just 27mins off the bench. Our secret weapon Tyrick Mitchell was a definite win though as he bagged a clean sheet vs Saints, while Van Dijk at least combined his comical d...[Read More]
FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW1 Knee deep in… It seems like only yesterday that we were picking our GW38+ team… oh, hang on. Well, we might not be refreshed but we are certainly back regardless and much like many an FPL manager we have been struggling to find those dirt cheap defenders, whilst being knee deep in premium mids and wondering how on earth we then go about accommodating the Manchester contingent once they bother to grace us with their presence. Let’s go and see how we have decided to tackle it all, but first a quick recap on how last season ended for us: 2019/20 Result Could have been better, could have been a lot worse. We wrapped up the season in GW38+ with 65 points. That saw us get a small red arrow but we only dropped a few thousand places. Overall we landed at ...[Read More]
FPL Devil’s Advocate Season 2, Episode 1 Welcome to Devil’s Advocate. Smash and I have reunited and decided to have a bit of a tussle over his FPL team again this season. We promise that no tea cups will be harmed in the making of this article. Hopefully his team will also address some of the concerns that you may have and I think that what you will find is that it is OK to be unsure. Being ready to adjust as pre-season continues and paying close attention to little details are the makings of a strong FPL manager. As you will see, Smash is seemingly changing his mind mid-sentence. 😉 Just kidding, sort of. Anyway, let’s get to it. Team Smash Keepers Mito: OK Smash, I am not going to waste too much time on your keepers. I mean when someone spends 8.5mln on two players they ...[Read More]
FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW30 APOCALYPSE NOW! Is actually surprisingly hard to spell! Then again it’s not often you have to actually write it, fortunately. We did this week though, for multiple reasons. The obvious being the turmoil we are in globally with matches / entire leagues being suspended and the uncertainty of what will happen here. The second was when we viewed our points this week. Or lack of. Granted we got a bit shafted with the DGW postponment having brought in Saka and Aubameyang (as captain) specifically for it, and having held onto KDB too. But even so… 31. Do us a favour! We’ll spare you the horror story but other than Salah getting a goal we didn’t have a single other player score above 3 points. And we had some good players, with decent f...[Read More]
FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW29 How far in does one go… said the priest to the… We’re here all week. It was also the question posed this week as we considered exactly what constituted enough DGW coverage. But more on that later. Let’s deal with last week first. A celebration of dullness. In the most weird of game-weeks we somehow scored 41 points, which saw us comfortably beat the ridiculously low average of 26 points. We won’t complain that 29 of our 41 points came from just four of our team. Indeed, we gained 22 points from the goalless draw betweem Newcastle and Burnley thanks to a 10pt haul from Pope and clean sheets from Lascelles and new recruit Taylor, who only made it into our XI as an autosub for the injured Vardy. Jiménez did us proud with a late 7pt...[Read More]
FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW28 Welcome to FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW28 Happy Days… Up and down we go, this week saw a small green arrow, which simply restores the damage we did last week, which destroyed the good from the week before. You get the picture, basically we are stuck hovering around the 100k mark, 103,391 now to be exact. GW27 saw us end up on 58 points and a rise of about 17k places, which ironically was the exact score we recorded in GW26 which saw us plummet a similar amount. FPL, eh… As with most people this week we had to wait until Liverpool played on Monday to fill our points bag, which probably made little difference really, but for the record our trio brought us 28, which was just shy of 50% of our total. Elsewhere Pope and Stephens returned clean-...[Read More]
FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW27 Welcome to FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW27. “Sacked in the morning, you’re getting sacked in the morning” ….the home crowd sang as we suffered another red arrow dropping from 106,713 to 120,867 after scoring 58pts in GW26. At least we beat the average… by 2pts. In fairness to the crowd they are probably frustrated that we sold the goal-scoring Lundstram for Stephens. The dreaded vote of confidence was delivered from the board this week – never a good sign. We were again indebted to our Liverpool defenders, Grealish and Ings to steady the ship while KDB weighed in with 14pts late on. Capo Salah failed, while Vardy and Maddison look horribly out of form but have excellent fixtures on the horizon. Tough decisions will need to be ma...[Read More]
FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW26 Welcome to FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW26. I love it when a plan comes together… More pertinently; a hit, ‘I love it when a hit comes together…’ That was the rallying cry from one of our panel on Saturday night and thank goodness that we did it. It’s difficult to put a number on how many points it gained us, or conversely how many it would have lost us had we not done so, mainly because we don’t know who we would have captained instead. A sliding doors moment, if you like. Or the Butterfly Effect. We can hypothesise all we like and come up with scenarios of having captained Vardy or TAA but the fact of the matter is that we would have come up well short either way. Salah was only one element of last weeks R...[Read More]
FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW25 Bring out your dead! It’s probably fitting, in more ways than one, that we introduce this week’s article with a (Monty) Python reference. The obvious being that we lost one of the great comic genuises of our time this week. RIP Terry Jones. The fact that most of our panel are now old enough to remember the original series actually being aired is probably somewhat depressing, for us anyway! The less obvious reference is to that band of snakes from the Captain Picks article who all sang a Mane tune but then when push came to shove all whistled along happily to ‘Always Look on the Bright Side of Life’, after switching to Salah at the last minute. We hope the now infamous Mane Five can all sleep soundly in their beds in the knowledg...[Read More]
FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team DGW24 Keep the Faith Welcome to FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team DGW24. We knew there was a reason we kept ignoring the fact that we had (a) Pope in goal… We won’t claim a masterstroke or indeed divine intervention here, after all he actually caused Vardy to lose 2 points in the process. His 12 and TAA’s 10 made up 22 of our ‘defences’ 25. Our mids got us 19, 10 of those being from Jack the Lad who thankfully we played ahead of Todd the Wrath. Our new signing Ings did what all of our new signings seem to do on their debut for us; he got 2 points. Vardy somehow managed a big fat zero but Jiménez rescued the front line with two goals and 13 points in total. All in all then a good week which saw us post 59 points and a green arrow...[Read More]
FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW23 Welcome to FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW23. Extraordinary(ly) (Pointless) General Meeting… We won’t beat around the bush here; GW22 was less than kind to us. We scraped home with just 48 points, 9 below the average. Inevitably it meant a big red arrow, one to the tune of almost exactly 50,000 places, which now sees us in 141,497th, our 2nd lowest ranking of the season. Our entire team managed just 3 assists and 1 goal between them. Our highest scoring player was captain Vardy with just 10, and that was doubled up from 5, which pretty much tells you all you need to know. Our GW22 Result… Let’s go see what was decided this week… Our GW23 Transfer(s) We come into GW23 with 1 FT and £1.5m in the bank. As mentioned last w...[Read More]
FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW22 Desperately Seeking Salah Welcome to FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team GW22. A week of mixed fortunes but we think we got away with it and a green arrow would suggest so. At the back Pope reinforced why we should really have sold him a while back as he along with Kelly got us 2 points apiece. TAA got his now obligatory clean sheet with Soyuncu going one better and get 2 handy bonus points on top of his cleanie. Up top it was carnage as our captain Vardy didn’t bother to show up, Jimenez did just about but still only got us 2 points whilst Tammy was that particular department’s ‘star’ performer with an assist. Our midfield came to the rescue a bit but perhaps from unexpected sources. Whereas Alli got a disappointing 2 and our new ...[Read More]
