FPL Captain Picks Gameweek 5 Welcome to FPL Captain Picks Gameweek 5 No, no, no, no, no? So presumably you all had Grealish (24 points) or Watkins (19) as captain vs Liverpool? No? How about Son (18) or Kane (16) away at Man United? No? Failing that one of the Everton lads… DCL or Richarlison would surely suffice at home to Brighton? No? No. JRod (18) stole that particular show. Maybe a Chelsea midfielder, they have plenty of exciting fantasy options there? No… you guessed it, Jorginho (15) came out on top. Perhaps you went to the defensive ‘well’ with either a Chil (18) or a Cress (15). No? Thought not. None of the above were mentioned by our panel of ‘experts’ last week, but let’s forgive them that, as it was the strangest of strange weeks. But we still like...[Read More]
FPL Tips Gameweek 5 Welcome to FPL Tips Gameweek 5 We’re at a time when there is much uncertainty, elements of the community feel cynical of what the point of it all is, league tables show startling differences and there are results being thrown about which confuse most people – and that’s just fantasy football and the Premier League! Unlike the pandemic, however, we’re glad to see the return of domestic football to our televisions – though paying £15 extra for certain matches is quite the ask. So, as Baz Lurhmann may sing now: Ladies and gentlemen, of the class of 2020. Enjoy FPL. If I could offer you only one tip for the future, enjoying the game would be it. The long-term benefits of picking the right players have been proved by fantasy ‘experts’ Whereas the rest of my advice has no bas...[Read More]
FPL Fixtures Gameweek 5 WTAF?! You’ll have to excuse a few profanities in the intro here but I’m sure you’ve all uttered similar enough recently, and for similar reasons, so here we go: Right then, what is it you actually want to know? You want to know who has good fixtures and who has bad ones, yeah? Well… how the f*ck am I supposed to know when Man Utd concede 6 at home, Liverpool get beaten 2-7 by Aston Villa, Leicester look like world beaters by sticking 5 past Man City and then back it up by getting stuffed 0-3 at home to f*cking West Ham. How on earth am I supposed to write a normal and sensible ‘fixtures guide’ on the back of all that?! :explode: Good question…. That tweet from GNev2 probably summed it all up (although it needs context), but crack on we shall...[Read More]
Harry and Lloyd’s Fantasy Predictions GW5 Welcome to Harry and Lloyd’s Fantasy Predictions GW5. It’s just getting silly now. The Manchester and Liverpool results in GW4 proved once again how increasingly difficult this predicting lark is this season, more so than ever before. It was another low scoring week which is no real surprise. Sarriball was the only one to correctly predicted Chilwell as the first goalscorer which netted him 10pts and top-spot for the week. Loud Atlas grabbed a strong 9pts but they were only enough to see him slot into second. Third place was shared by too many to mention who all grabbed 8pts. And so; Many Congratulations to Sarriball. Please email us here; contact@fantasyfootball247.co.uk to claim your prize. THIS WEEK’S COMPETITION… S...[Read More]
Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! – Fantasy Premier League 2020-21 International break time always means a Bore Off. I have gathered three of my esteemed colleagues and have asked them to answer some questions for us to the best of their ability. I also asked for site members to provide any questions they wanted answering and many obliged, one in particular had quite a few! 😯 Some really great stuff was asked and hopefully this edition of Bore Off can provide you with some good answers to said questions. I want to send a special thanks to all who jumped in at a moments notice to either ask a question or take part in answering them. Well, without further ado, let us see what the boys had to say. Thanks for reading Grab, Avoid or Bore Off!. This article was written by Mito21. Follow @TheLegendMi...[Read More]
Hot Takes from the opening four gameweeks of the 2020/21 FPL Season We’re just four Gameweeks into the 2020/21 FPL season and it already feels like a long time with each and every one of them so far surprising us FPL managers. The international break is a blessing in disguise for us to take a break, so let’s make use of it and take a deep look into some of the key talking points over the first four weeks of FPL action thus far. 1. Everton look sharp and is it worth doubling up on their assets in FPL this season? At the beginning of the season who knew Everton would be topping the PL points table having won all of their first four opening games? Nobody. The Merseyside club, along with Aston Villa, are the only ones to remain undefeated. Everton have scored the joint most goals (12) and star...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Diary 2020/21 Dangerous Liaisons, Wildcard woes and a donkey You may remember in my first diary entry that my season hadn’t started well with a paltry 40pts in game-week 1. But there’s a long way to go. As you are all aware FPL brings its own hurdles and problems along the way, some of them are self-inflicted, seemingly most of mine. Tuesday 15 September Took the kids to the park round the back of Morrisons while Mrs went shopping. Approached by a lady on a bike who asked if she could take a video of me playing football with the kids. Either a weirdo or a scout. Rather taken aback I gave permission. She asked for my number so she could send me the video and she put me in her phone as ‘Park Dude’. Luckily she disappeared before said Mrs returned. Thursday 17 September Recei...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 4 Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 4. After a wonderful GW3 where we all scored big points and played all those wildcards perfectly we head into another slate of games which I am sure will bring us equal joy. And what better way to get a points filled GW going then Chelsea and their high flying Timo Werner where he is sure to single-handedly dismantle Palace, showing off once again the brilliance that Fat Frank has taken full advantage of so far. That early game is followed by three more encounters all nicely spread out for us so we have more time to enjoy and gloat about our great decisions when selecting a team. In the second fixture we get a chance to watch the washed up James Rodriguez and the non scoring duo of DCL and Rich...[Read More]
FF247 FPL Team GW4 Welcome to FF247 FPL Team GW4. Glass half full…. As the UK government has shown consistently this year, there is always more than one way to perceive data. As I (Cookie) write this I look upon the site team with pride after GW3. We scored 48pts beating the average by a full 5pts and recorded our first green arrow of the season, jumping almost 500k places, no mean feat I’m sure you would agree. In a week where scores were low and in some cases quite unpredictable we have come through unscathed and in decent shape. Some others on the committee may point fingers at our transfer policy which saw us sell hat-trick hero Vardy for that clown Jiménez who did at least score, just in the wrong net. Unfortunate I’d say. Oh cr@p, here comes Init, he doesn’t look too happ...[Read More]
FPL Tips Gameweek 4 Welcome to FPL Tips Gameweek 4. The first and most important tip you’ll get this year is to buy players that are on penalty kick duties. This season has seen 20 kicks from the spot in the 28 games that have taken place. That’s an average of 0.71 awarded penalties per match. To put things in perspective 2018 saw 103 penalties for an average of 0.27 per match while in 2019 there were 92 for 0.24. Three game-weeks is still a small sample of course but these 20 penalties did not happen in a random way – they were a result of the new rules in place. Or of the interpretation (not) being made of them by the refs. Speaking of which, another interesting way of looking at this is precisely from the perspective of the referees who awarded them. So, it seems that Anthony Taylor has...[Read More]
FPL Captain Picks Gameweek 4 Welcome to FPL Captain Picks Gameweek 4. Shiny Old Toys Ok then class, hands up, who did well with their armband last week? Cue silence. A week for the differential, evidently. The answer was of course Vardy as he was top scorer and would have netted you a cool 34. But he was away vs Man City, and given the alternatives he wasn’t exactly top of most peoples list. Top of our list last week were Jimenez with 0 points, Kdb and Werner with 4 and Kane and Salah with a slightly more respectable, but still rather dissapointing 10. And all that was doubled. The ‘Confessional’ all had some combo of the above too, so we can’t even point to a glory seeker there. Let’s go see if this week’s panelists stick with the tried and tested, the ...[Read More]
FPL Fixtures Gameweek 4 Welcome to FPL Fixtures Gameweek 4. I think it’s probably in all of our interests if we just move on from Gameweek 3 like it never happened. Like a petulant child, let’s not give it the attention it so clearly craves. Last week, Matt trialled Boris’s new rule of three before it gets rolled out to the masses: “Avoid, Avoid, Avoid”. It would probably be more effective, in all honesty. More effective than “Hands, Face, Space”, whose similarity to the popular children’s song with a conflicting message is its problem; it’s only when I get to the third “body part” that I realise I’ve messed up again, having enthusiastically rubbed my germy hands together and slapped them onto my face. No, “Avoid, Avoid, Avoid” conveys a much clearer message and can be applied to all manne...[Read More]
