FPL Fixtures Gameweek 3 We all knew deep down that this was going to be a weird ‘ol season, for one reason or another. GW’s 1 & 2 have sort of confirmed this. We’ve had goals galore: some from expected sources, some from those less so. We’ve seen a host of players deliver in GW1 and then a different cast appear in GW2. Salah, Son, Mane and Zaha are all prime examples of this new phenom. Those who didn’t have Salah for GW1 suddenly found themselves wanting Son for GW3 instead, probably via some Bruno merry-go-round. Wish lists have been written, scrapped and re-written more times than Raz tells us he’s missed the deadline #zomg Writing a fixtures article at the start of the season might seem easy but I see it as walking through a minefield. Looking a...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Fixture Analysis Gameweek 2 By the time that you read this, things — fixtures — will have happened! Certain players (most probably) brought in double-digit hauls for their owners; several favourites (most likely) got booked. The culprits may well seem obvious now, but it wasn’t even remotely clear on Saturday morning. Indeed, whilst I’m writing to you from the past — well, that can be said of any given passage, but it’s often fresh off the print — we’ve now observed ~2.105% of the new [F]PL season, albeit not a full Gameweek yet. That leaves us with just under 98% of the season to chase: almost quite literally, then, all to play for! One step at a time, though, or perhaps three to four steps; Premier League fixtures (even in the crowds’ absences) will never cease to functi...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Fixture Analysis Gameweek 1 No pressure! Here I am with the first of the ‘traditional’ articles run at FF247, at a time where there is still great upheaval from the ‘C’ word – by ‘C’ word, I, of course, mean Covid-19 and not the politician who first comes to your mind! However, at least we have the benefit of the return to three substitutions, along with a more normal-looking – albeit delayed – calendar. That is great news to me anyway, as that crazy period when the league restarted, where I was also on holiday and had less FPL focus, saw my rank plummet to the worst finish in seven years. So, looking ahead – as we particularly must do at the moment – I trust you are all ready for the rollercoaster that will no doubt be the season?! Not that there has been much of a wait! ...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Fixture Analysis Gameweek 30+ Ok, so we warned you on our FPL / FF247 Returns article that we may not be massively active for the rest of the season, given the fixture layout. But then we went and did a huge GABO article. And then there’s a comprehensive Captain Picks one in the pipeline. And the following will almost certainly put a final nail in that particular coffin / balloon*. *Delete as to how appropriately morbid you are. We genuinely don’t know how many more articles we will get to do this season, and so this may / may not be the final Fixtures Analysis one. Hence we decided to go comprehensive. Albeit succintly. Either way, here’s a whistle stop tour of all 20 teams and a quick analysis of all of their remaining fixtures… FPL FIXTURE TRACKER But ...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Fixture Analysis Gameweek 30 No amount of hand sanitiser, reassurance from any scientists or, particularly, loads of loo roll can bring you back from the panic. No, not a certain virus, I mean when Mane brings in the points and you don’t have him in your team – but those around you in your respective leagues do. Or when Chelsea tear Everton apart and there isn’t a single blue shirt in your starting XI. Or when everyone is bringing in Aubameyang ahead of the gameweek and you realise you can’t afford him. OK, the last one is still out with the jury at the moment, especially as Leicester versus Aston Villa is actually the decider of whether I get a green arrow or not. Do I want the Foxes trio in my squad to run riot, so I can keep those top 10k dreams alive, or do I wan...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Fixture Analysis Gameweek 29 Well everybody, the first US case of Coronavirus that has ended in a fatality has happened in my state. So I guess you could say this is it. We’ve had a good run. I work two jobs and have three kids in public school, and as such, becoming a hermit is out of the question for me…so I just wanted to tell you that I love you all, and I hope you remember the good times. Remember that time I wrote like ten pages of MLS preview while hopped up on DayQuil? And remember all of those times I kept praising Liverpool hoping that I could jinx them? Ahhh, the memories. Or maybe it won’t be so bad. I mean, we’ve got the top minds of the country working on this, so we should be fine. Right? See, I say this time and time again though. This is why we need ...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Fixture Analysis Gameweek 28 There are many things that can descend quickly: the value of the pound, the hopes of Aston Villa fans after yet another loss and, seemingly, my FPL rank. Now, those in the same league as me may have little to no sympathy when I say I have had a good run up until the last few weeks with the heady heights of 9,795 as an overall rank just one month ago. Indeed, my latest position of 35,121 before the Liverpool game is certainly nothing to be depressed about, either. But red arrows are red arrows and so four consecutive weeks of them can still make you feel as beleaguered as Chelsea fans when Giovani Lo Celso didn’t receive that red card on Saturday. So, as we face just 11 remaining gameweeks of this rollercoaster of a season, we get to the real bu...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Fixture Analysis Gameweek 27 Welcome to Fantasy Football Fixtures Gameweek 27. Gameweek 26 has been an odd gameweek so far. The slow drip feed of games hasn’t made it feel like a ‘proper’ round of fixtures that was actually contributing towards my overall points total; as it turns out, it contributed very little towards it. Storm Ciara wreaked havoc in the fishbowl that is Manchester to call off the City versus West Ham tie last weekend. Unfortunately for me, Storm Dennis doesn’t look up to the task of getting it called off for a second time so forgotten hero Lundstram will remain firmly rooted to my bench. No doubt a certain someone on Twitter can let you know every possible gameweek to which the game could be moved if it is postponed again. Despit...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Fixture Analysis Gameweek 26 The last time I wrote a Fixtures article I was in short trousers – I wasn’t at school that day, it’s just what the neighbours happened to have hanging out on the washing line that morning (needs must – all my money went on Beanos, Dandys, marbles and gobstoppers) – alas, I return after all this time, once again, to tell you which TEAMS look good and which don’t. For you see, I usually write Tips and such was my internal autopilot that I began to look at players this weekend before scrunching up my notes when it dawned on me all I had to do was pick Liverpool and three other teams who might win all of their next four games and choose four teams who haven’t a snowball in hell’s chance of winning theirs. Before revealing these eight seven te...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Fixture Analysis Gameweek 25 We appreciate that the ink isn’t dry on DGW24 yet but we cannot wait upon that one concluding before cracking on with the GW25 articles otherwise you’d have them stacking up like Salah / Mane / Firmino / TAA DGW points* *delete as applicable :wink2: We are about to enter a period of uncertainty but one in which planning and preparation usually separates the casuals from the hardcore. There’s a reason we don’t publish the Fixture Tracker in it’s entirety; it will alter significantly in the coming weeks. Beginning with ‘Blank GW28’ and continuing forth as we move through the FA Cup clashes and all the subsequent rescheduled games, culminating in two more DGW’s, in theory anyway. And this is where our weekly Fixtures Analysis really st...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Fixture Analysis Gameweek 23 Well hello there! My first article proper of 2020. I find myself in an optimistic frame of mind despite my FPL woes of late. This week I’m tasked with surveying the fixtures and telling you who, in my humble opinion, you should be focusing your attention on. However, like the million or so VAR decisions that dominated (ruined) the fixtures in GW22, you should take such things as favourable fixtures with a pinch of salt. For every Man U v Norwich, there’s a Leicester v Southampton just waiting to upset the apple cart. I digress. By proxy Liverpool and West Ham are the two teams with the best fixtures given that they both have an extra fixture over the next 3 game weeks. Liverpool has the best fixtures regardless of opposition, and outside DGW24 ...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Fixture Analysis Gameweek 22 Happy New Year, everybody. Who would’ve thought that the first FPL article this decade would’ve been penned by a Yank? That’s a nice piece of trivia to carry with you until 2030 when we look back at the Roaring 20’s. But it doesn’t matter where the writers for these articles are from – what matters is that we all come together, at least once a week, and partake in a crazy game like FPL. Sure, we’re starting a new decade, but the world at large is more of the same it seems. We have Australia on fire, WWIII memes are everywhere…it’s crazy out there. But somewhere in the midst of all that craziness, we center ourselves in some hobby like this. We could all get bogged down with the bad news all over the TV, or we could collectively get ...[Read More]
