Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! – Fantasy Premier League 2017/18

Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! – Fantasy Premier League 2017-18 The International break gives us all the first opportunity to sit back and assess how we have fared so far. For some it’s a time of quiet reflection, for others it’s time for a Wildcard! Either way it’s a nervous time for fantasy managers as they wait and see if their stars return in one piece from their journeys far and wide. This particular break also sees the transfer window close so much can change, players will be added, some will be waved goodbye. We’ve decided to take a bit of a break ourselves for a few days but before we do we have asked a few of our regular writers to reflect on their own seasons so far, their fantasy plans and also their take on the season in general. Between them Cookie, Mit...[Read More]

FF247 Fantasy Football Team Gameweek 3

FF247 Fantasy Football Team Gameweek 3 Welcome to FF247 Fantasy Football Team Gameweek 3. Our good start didn’t last long. Just one game-week if you want specifics. After finishing GW1 with an impressive total of 86pts, GW2 brought us crashing back down to reality as we finished with just 35pts and a game-week rank of 3,402,911. If it hadn’t been for our United duo of de Gea & Lukaku we’d be stood in the corner wiping away the tears. With 18pts between them they accounted for just over 50% of our point’s total. The rest of our team were such a disappointment that they don’t even deserve a mention. So onto GW3 and our two free transfers…they’ll be needed! The team in full We have sold KdB & Kompany and bought Pogba & Alonso Best laid plans and all that! The City boys get dumped ...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Fixture Analysis Gameweek 3

Fantasy Football Fixture Analysis Gameweek 3 Welcome to Fantasy Football Fixture Analysis Gameweek 3. Today I was treated to a nearly full solar eclipse in my neck of the woods. It was eerie – and that’s putting it lightly. When I walked around outside, it felt like I had sunglasses on due to the lack of light. Streetlamps started turning on all around, but the streets were all empty. The temperature dropped considerably for about twenty minutes. Birds stopped flying and all went to ground in the field where I stood, watching the moon completely block out the sun. It was humbling in a way. Seeing such a cosmic event reminds you of how we don’t really control anything in this universe. We’re all just passengers on this rock spinning through space – and we’re all subject to the w...[Read More]

FF247 Fantasy Football Team Gameweek 2

Welcome to FF247 Fantasy Football Team Gameweek 2. Well that went rather well. If you’d offered us 86pts ahead of GW1 we’d have bitten your arm off. All those weeks of research & deliberation certainly paid off!!! However it could & should have been 87pts. Late on Friday afternoon a decision was made to replace Cedric with Stephens, the words ‘I’ll do it now’ were uttered but as you’ll see we still own Cedric. But enough about Cedricgate, let’s take a quick look at where the points came from. Our defence did us proud with de Gea, Cedric & Kompany all picking up 6pts. It was however Ben Davies who turned out to be our star at the back with the Welsh international picking up an impressive 14pts. Unfortunately our midfield didn’t perform quite as well with Willian, ...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 3 Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 3. “It’s time to play the music, It’s time to light the lights…”. With game-weeks 1&2 done & dusted it’s time to sit down and hopefully enjoy GW3, our final game-week before the international break. Our game-week kicks off at lunchtime on Saturday as a pointless Bournemouth take on a City side who have yet to sparkle. This is followed by four 3pm kick-offs, all of which appear to be rather uninspiring. Saturday concludes with free scoring United hosting a Leicester City side who look somewhat rejuvenated this season. At 1:30pm on Sunday Chelsea will look to build upon their win over Spurs as they face Spurs. At the same time West Brom host Stoke in ...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 3

Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 3 Welcome to Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 3. Back in 1998, The Propellerheads teamed up with Shirley Bassey for a song called ‘History Repeating’. Why am I dropping this random fact into my first article of the season, I hear you ask… Well, game-weeks one and two of the new FPL campaign have well and truly got the tune in my head with how they have shown some things just never change! Harry Kane is, once again, slow off the mark, leaving managers scratching their heads on whether they should get rid of him, Arsenal are having a mixed time of it with no clean sheet yet meaning a proportion of their fans are going into meltdown on Twitter and we’re starting to see a couple of surprise packages in teams that many had written off before a ball had even be...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 2

Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 2 Welcome to Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 2. Hello and welcome to the Tips article for Gameweek Two and my maiden one for the FPL 2017/18 season. Now hopefully with everyone present and correct after Gameweek 1 and no fallers, let’s look to the second obstacle in this thirty eight fence steeplechase. ‘On we go’. That’s both an instruction and a mantra for this love-to-hate game of ours. Itchy trigger fingers need to be soothed in balm, not scratched. Our mile-a-minute FPL minds need rest and contemplation and not further torture. And I would like to win the lottery and retire from pen-pushing. Seeing as none of these things are going to happen let’s get begin with a question. Who needs new players? Wow . . . that many? Anyway, I was quite fortunate enough t...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 3

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 3 2017/18 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 3. It actually feels like I’ve caught you at a bad time: summer is nearly over now; the Minions recently surpassed our beloved ogrelord Shrek, as the highest-grossing animated film franchise in history; the initial buzz of the new season is fading and player prices have started to fall. I can’t stop any of these dismal events, but I can offer hope for the future, a mere taster of the FPL points to come. Andy Carroll — our favourite Donkey — should really be the only player we need to save us but, considering his eternal state of injury, we should probably consider some inferior options. Christian Eriksen vs Burnley (H) This man has never featured in one of my captaincy articles before. That...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 2 Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 2. After the excitement of GW1 and a fresh squad to play with we move onwards into the weekly slog and trying to find the right balance between keeping what you have and adding in fresh faces / the latest bandwagon without taking too many unnecessary hits along the way. Let us all know what you did and whether it was worth it on our weekly Live Match Chat forum. As for the games themselves Swansea host Man United to begin our week at lunchtime on Saturday. This is followed by five 3pm games and then Stoke host Arsenal in the late one. Pulis will be sat at home rubbing his thighs in anticipation. Sunday begins wit a clash of the promoted teams as Huddersfield host Newcastle befoe a couple of the...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 2

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 2 2017/18 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 2. There are some fantasy players who use the ‘Perma Captain’ tactic – i.e. they decide from the start who their most productive player will be and slap the armband on him for the entire season. In recent seasons this can be argued to be a pretty good, if slightly boring tactic when you consider we have had the luxury of choosing players such as Aguero, Kane and Alexis. One game-week into the new season and the favourite for the ‘PC’ brigade is of course Romelu Lukaku after his opening weekend brace. With United looking like they are at least going to be better than last season and with many predicting another second season turnaround by Jose, Lukaku will likely be near the top of most capo...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Fixture Analysis Gameweek 2

Fantasy Football Fixture Analysis Gameweek 2 Welcome to Fantasy Football Fixture Analysis Gameweek 2. Some of you are waxing poetic after having nailed all of your picks going into GW1. Those people who did well, and who told us how well they were going to do ahead of time, are usually the most verbose on Monday mornings. Well I scored a 35 on GW1. And at the moment, I feel like being anything but verbose about anything related to FPL. But I did sign a huge extension here at this site in the off-season, so I guess I’ll do what I have to do. Now the terms of my contract weren’t monetary, but the contract does state that I’m free to disparage all things MLS in our group chats whenever I’ve had a few drinks. They humour me and let me ramble, and I feel better afterwards. Of course the optics ...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 1 Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 1. As the great Bruce Buffer would say “IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTSSS TTIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIMMEE!” Here we go, the planning stage is over and the moment has come to test all your pre-season theories. This season we don’t even have to wait until the weekend either, as the season kicks off on a Friday night. The invincible Arsene Wenger and his boys take on the now “back where they belong” Leicester. Saturday hits us with a lunch time feast as Watford welcome in Liverpool and their high octane attack. Three o’clock has five fixtures on the slate. The Champs grab their first 3 points when they face Burnley, Palace host newcomer Huddersfield, The Toffees ta...[Read More]
