Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 30

Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 30 Welcome to Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 30. It illustrates just how boring those international breaks are that I remain interested in MLS and even found myself watching a game last Saturday night, while for the site, the most interesting thing that happened was the education in gambling undertaken by our very own Inittowinit. We now make a welcome return to FPL before I get too involved in the ‘awesome’ MLS and before Mrs Init finds out what he’s been up to with her housekeeping money. It’s Init himself who will be excited as GW30 kicks off as his beloved Everton stroll across the park to play Liverpool Saturday lunchtime. Six 3pm matches follow as Spurs visit home specialists Burnley, runaway leaders Chelsea host the in-form Palace...[Read More]

Fantasy Premier League Captain Picks Gameweek 30

Fantasy Premier League Captain Picks Gameweek 30 Welcome to Fantasy Premier League Captain Picks Gameweek 30. Surprise everybody – after a lengthy bit of time off from writing Fixtures, I’m back again to do the Capos article. Now, people might say that’s a lot of Guy Sanchez in such a condensed period of time, but I can tell you with certainty, you can never have too much Sanchez. Well that’s not true. My wife and I are celebrating our anniversary this week, and I’m pretty sure she has a limit to how much of me she can stand after all these years. But you lot have never even seen me naked, so there’s no way you’re fully disgusted with me being here yet. But that’s neither here nor there, the point is that I’m supposed to be writing about who you all should be considering for captainc...[Read More]

What I’ve Learnt From Editing the Fantasy Football Magazine

What I’ve Learnt From Editing the Fantasy Football Magazine Welcome to What I’ve Learnt From Editing the Fantasy Football Magazine. Speaking on last week’s FFSurgery Podcast, Jamie – the Fantasy Football Magazine’s co-creator – remarked that the motive for producing the magazine was simply to gain access to the best FPL advice out there before anyone else. Though Jamie was joking, I can’t help but agree with the sentiment. Having seen almost all of the magazine’s articles at least 2 gameweeks before its release date, I certainly felt as though I had gained a somewhat unfair advantage over the rest of the field. Combing through such a range of articles with more scrutiny than a US arrivals gate might’ve helped to iron out any grammatical errors, but it had the added benefit of p...[Read More]

FPL Fixtures Analysis Gameweek 30

FPL Fixtures Analysis Gameweek 30 Welcome to FPL Fixtures Analysis Gameweek 30. Hopefully you all enjoyed your international break – I don’t care what people say, I enjoy the breaks personally. Well, I would get to enjoy the breaks had I not signed up to do MLS again, but that’s a different rant for a different article. But in a normal world, a just world, you get to see your global superstars put on different kit and play for the glory of the homeland whilst the leagues take a hiatus. And the players who didn’t get called up sometimes get to play in club friendlies that you otherwise would never see. It’s all a good time. And then Seamus Coleman got taken out by a Welshman and nearly all goodwill I’d had towards the international games went out the window. It’s bad enough I have to ...[Read More]

MLS GW4 Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer

MLS GW4 Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer THIS WEEKS DEADLINE IS SATURDAY 25th MARCH AT 6pm UK TIME This shouldn’t be a long article. As a matter of fact, this shouldn’t be an article at all. You see, the MLS just can’t help itself. There is a fundamental problem within the hierarchy of the MLS that refuses to conform to certain norms within the footballing world. And it’s because of statements like this that will ensure I’ll be writing for you all here for years to come instead of ever getting a chance to write a fluff piece on the MLS site. The major football leagues are on a break this weekend to allow for international duty. England has taken the weekend off. I imagine Germany, Scotland, Spain and the rest followed suit. Even Mexico took a little break. But the MLS? They just couldn’t d...[Read More]

To hit, or not to hit, that is the question…

To hit, or not to hit, that is the question… Welcome to To hit, or not to hit, that is the question… : “To hit, or not to hit, that is the question”… Well ok, it isn’t necessarily the question, but it’s certainly one that we get asked on an hourly basis on the FF247 boards. If you follow the text through, the next line actually speaks of ‘suffering the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune’. The FPL arena probably wasn’t quite the context that Shakespeare was referring to when he wrote it, but it sure is apt when it comes to the issue of taking hits! Now the fact that you have even opened this great new magazine probably means that you are an FPL player and so will almost certainly be au fait with what ‘taking a hit’ means...[Read More]

Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! – Fantasy Premier League 2016-17

Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! – Fantasy Premier League 2016-17 Well hello there, your favourite snake oil salesman here bringing you another installment of Grab, Avoid or Bore off! Once again I have charmed our 3 amigos into given us some insight into some of the questions that all managers are asking, and by all, I mostly just mean me. We will look to cover topics like GW34, Mr. Party, Kun and Alexis. We also address the top 4 where we witness the LFC fan (Kop) pick United to finish ahead of them and the United fan (Cookie) pick LFC to finish ahead of them. Must be fun watching games of their team with these two. Anyway, enough of this intro and let us get to it, let’s see what the fellas have to say. Thanks for reading Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! – Fantasy Premier League 2016-1...[Read More]

Live Match Chat Gameweek 29 FPL News

Live Match Chat Gameweek 29 FPL News Welcome to Live Match Chat Gameweek 29 FPL News: After an odd GW with just the four games we are back to normal this week with a full compliment of ten to go at again this time. West Brom and Arsenal kick us off at lunchtime on Saturday and then we have no less than five 3pm games with the Palace boring Watford, Everton battering Hull, Stoke pathing the title pathway for Chelsea, Sunderland giving Burnley their best chance yet of an actual away win and then West Ham being Leicester’s latest victims since they woke up again and remembered that they are the champions. Saturday doesn’t end there though as Bournemouth host Swansea in a key game at the wrong end of the table. Sunday brings us the remaining three fixtures as ‘Boro host Man U...[Read More]

It’s Delicious in Mauritius, an FPL interview

It’s Delicious in Mauritius, an FPL interview Welcome to It’s Delicious in Mauritius, an FPL interview. Every now and again the fun jobs turn up and I managed to bag the best one yet. All in the name of work you understand. Boris Martin is probably not a name you are familiar with – he plays FPL, is a Liverpool fan (zzzzz) and is a contributing member of FF247 on the boards, where he appears under the guise of Derek Sr. Boris or Derek, or Bo Derek as I have renamed him (Google it if you’re too young to understand) lives in Mauritius – if that’s not good enough then our new friend is having an exceptional season as he sits in 618th place. I therefore suggested to the powers to be that Bo Derek needed interviewing and that it had to be done in person! They agreed, so before they ...[Read More]

MLS GW3 Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer

MLS GW3 Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer THIS WEEKS DEADLINE IS SATURDAY 18th MARCH AT 6pm UK TIME GW2 was the round when the scores actually started to ‘count’. Well, unless you were in H2H leagues – because those scores stayed in place from the first round. But the classic scoring reset itself. Listen folks, this is the MLS. If you’re participating and you’re active in the league and the game, you just have to accept that some things are going to be a bit off. There’s no other way around it. All in all though, GW2 was a fun week to watch. Even though the league says there’s no way that they could do a winter schedule like everybody else in the world, we had a snow game in Minnesota that was so unique and had so much scoring that the league couldn’t stop gushing about how great it w...[Read More]

Fantasy Premier League Captain Picks Gameweek 29

Fantasy Premier League Captain Picks Gameweek 29 Welcome to Fantasy Premier League Captain Picks Gameweek 29. This weekend sees one of the best days of the year, St. Patricks Day!! The one day of the year we all get to release our true alcoholic side with it being totally acceptable, and just in time too! Last weekend we saw only four matches and the likes of Can, Schneiderlin and Mawson hitting the back of the net with the bigger names not getting the points. Most teams only scraped together eight or nine players so it was to be expected that scores would be low and with an average of 15 points that clearly happened. We could all do with a massive performance from our captain but this is my first Captain Pick’s article so we’ll see how I do!! 5. Josh King and Gylfi Sigurdsson (Bournemouth...[Read More]

Fantasy Football 247 Site Team Gameweek 29

Fantasy Football 247 Site Team Gameweek 29 Welcome to the Fantasy Football 247 Site Team Gameweek 27. It was an ‘ok’ week, we scored 47pts (39 net after the 8pt hit) vs an average of just 19 – so we cannot grumble, it could of been better, it could of been worse. Thanks to Captain Lukaku for his 24pt return to help maintain our decent ranking. The only other contributors in the much reduced game-week was Coleman’s clean sheet and Siggy’s assist and 2bps. Everyone else was 2,1 or 0 in Amat’s case! Phillips didn’t turn up and Llorente cried off just before half time. West Ham shared 5 goals with Bournemouth with Carroll doing nothing. Useless prick. Anyway, we saw a green arrow, climbing 5,841 places to 45,619. Our transfer this week is: Selling Phil...[Read More]
