FPL Fixtures Gameweek 24 (and 25 and beyond…) A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away… I used to write the Fixtures articles on both here and FFC* before us (*’Fantasy Football Cheat’ for those of a younger era). Week in and week out, for years on end, and whilst it was always a pleasure it could sometimes become monotonous. But then once in a while a Double Game-Week (DGW) would pop up and that would really (finally) pique the interest. Kid in a candy shop and all that. Or more like a weather reporter in Florida who suddenly has a hurricane to deal with. We both know they are coming eventually but for 98% of the rest of the year it’s samey-samey. I have long since given up the monotony, prefering to introduce some younger blood and new voices to the scene....[Read More]
Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 23 Another gameweek on top of the previous one. This one gets us going with a lunch-time battle of the only two teams that start with the letter A when Aston Villa face off vs Arsenal and that of course is followed by a meeting of the only two teams that start with the letter B in Burnley vs Brighton. Along with that game we have Toon taking on Saints so our alphabet game is already ruined. Fulham and Hammers gets the 5:30 spot and the day is brought to a close by what should be an entertaining affair when United play host to Everton. Sunday brings us four more fixtures. The early game sees Spurs throttle West Brom, that is followed by a battle of Wolves vs Foxes. The third game of the day is a title decider-ish? Probably not, but it should still b...[Read More]

FF247 FPL Team GW23 Welcome to FF247 FPL Team GW23. Our score of 65 in GW22 saw us record our first red arrow in seven weeks, despite us beating the average of 57. This is what a failed captain (Salah), a blanking goalkeeper (McCarthy) and failures on the part of Dallas and Targett (one point apiece) brings. Luckily for us everyone else delivered – the mandatory clean sheet for Dias, assists aplenty for Grealish, Gundogan, Bamford and Antonio while Bingo Bruno was the stand out with the full house of goal, assist(s) and clean sheet. The red arrow takes us back to 967,981 but with 2 free transfers, a wildcard in hand and double game-weeks coming up we’re confident of a strong finish. Our GW22 Result… Let’s go see what was decided… Our GW23 Transfer(s) With two free transfe...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 22 This is beginning to get exhausting, and that’s just sitting behind a computer or TV screen, we can only imagine what it is like for the players. Regardless, we go again on Tuesday, end on Thursday and begin again on Saturday. Tuesday begins with two 6pm games with Sheffield Utd welcoming Big Sam and Arsenal going off to bore Wolves. At 8.15pm the Saints go to Old Trafford and Newcastle play host to Palace. The two early games on Wednesday see Burnley vs Man City & Fulham vs Leicester. Leeds and Everton do battle at 7.30pm before Villa welcome West Ham and Brighton go to Anfield, both at 8.15pm. The GW ends on Thursday at 8pm with Spurs vs Chelsea. The games in full… Keep track of all the action, the goals, the talking points, ri...[Read More]
FF247 FPL Team GW22 Welcome to FF247 FPL Team GW22 Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?! What a week (finally). We finally managed to play Targett and benefitted from him and luckily warded off a late Friday steer towards bringing in Joao Cancelo for a hit. We were close. We scored 73 points and a cool 25 above average having made only a single transfer, which sadly itself didn’t reap instant rewards with our Kane replacement, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, being hampered by a bit of an all-round disappointing Everton performance. One of those weeks where all of our defenders returned. Ruben Dias (8, inc. 2 bonus) and Targett (6) with clean sheets and Stuart Dallas (7). The Northern Irishman scoring his side’s equaliser against Leicester. McCarthy in goal got 3. Gundogan as captain (6) was a bit of a le...[Read More]
FPL Captain Picks Gameweek 22 The (sh*t) show must go on… Having spirited in the essence of Guy Sanchez last week I’ll turn to Freddie for inspiration this week. Having viewed the team sheets this past weekend, and the subsequent comments on site about the absolute carnage which followed I’d forgive a good many for simply throwing the towel in. It is the oddest of odd seasons, and that says a lot after the last one! Cramming in this many games was always going to test squads out, both fantasy and real ones. The main problem here is that the more ‘aspirational’ players tend to be with clubs with larger squads, and are therefore more susceptible to rotation. And so it is proving. But we shall carry on. On a personal note Mrs Init still lies prone in bed, this il...[Read More]
Harry and Lloyd’s Fantasy Predictions GW’s 20-23 GW19 is not quite finished but as far as this competition goes it’s as over as Liverpool’s title hopes (I jest of course). The reduced GW18 saw predictably low-scoring with just 2pts being the pickup for most of our competitors. However LittleRedLacazette mirrored his impressive FPL form to take top-spot with 6pts with 2nd place shared among the masses – AllanBrallan, Padster, Elderzadi, Sweetbluetoffee, Eplnoob, Coys, Qwkliduzzit and Perun. Nobody got FGS correct (Billy Sharp in the 73rd minute). In contrast, GW19 boasted an inflated fixture list and that was reflected in the 17pts required to take top-spot. That was done by one of our own and former H&L contributor DMC – nice work pal!. Second place was t...[Read More]
Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 21 Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 21 Relentlessly this season’s FPL schedule hurtles us straight into GW21 with Everton v Newcastle at Goodison on Saturday lunchtime – just 28 and a half hours after Liverpool dusted off Spurs to round out GW20. Following on Saturday we have three games kicking off simultaneously in what is becoming a bit of a throwback to days when FPL was ‘normal’. At 3pm we have the Blades of Sheffield United looking to slice open the other half of Manchester as they travel to the Etihad to face City and try to secure the Manc’ double and haul themselves closer to safety. It’s The Eagles v The Wolves at Selhurst Park and West Bromwich Albion v Fulham in a game which will b...[Read More]
FF247 FPL Team GW21 Welcome to FF247 FPL Team GW21 meh /mɛ/ informal exclamation: meh expressing a lack of interest or enthusiasm. “meh, I’m not impressed so far” 48 points in GW20 and six above the average. ‘Meh’ about covers it. Our team did secure a green arrow in the overall rankings this week moving up to 1,141,741 from 1,201,188 – 59,447 places. Woo. Hoo. We know, we know! “It’s a step in the right direction” / “It’s no red at least” / “The correct side of the average”. Etc. etc. But come on this is boring. We want big scores, flashy jumps. In essence, we want to be the hare not the tortoise! Not looking at it forensically this week – but we had FOUR players with a solitary point in Alex McCarth...[Read More]

FPL Captain Picks Gameweek 21 The spirit of Guy Sanchez For those unaccustomed to said spirit it usually entails a meandering of the recent hand Guy has been dealt by life (as he knows it). Oft it’s not a good one, but often it’s a funny one. We’ve gone with him from Dayquil days to 12 hour work days, from Covid scares to Everton woes. But why did I immediately think of Guy when I came to write this intro? Mainly because I don’t arrive with good news, but also because the lack of that allows me time to actually write this, albeit perhaps not in the best of moods. But then again who is these days. Actually I was, until about 8.02am on Wednesday morning… I’ll unashamedly summon the spirit of Cookie’s Diary here too… I was awoken at 6.20am with ...[Read More]
