FF247 FPL Team GW38

FF247 FPL Team GW38 Welcome to FF247 FPL Team GW38 We scored 53 points in GW37 which was apparently 10 points better than the overall average and helped us to a small green arrow. Small mercies and all that, but in all honesty we probably needed something more if we are to finish the season with any respectability. Basically we were indebted to our defence and West Ham for our score – clean sheets from TAA, Dallas and Digne contributed 19 points, whilst Lingard assisting Antonio late on gave us 16 points. Eight points from Captain Bruno was fortunate to say the least given he didn’t even touch the ball! Sadly we left Watkins and his 9 points on the bench. The rest were hopeless and they are lucky there is only one gameweek left. We enter the final gameweek ranked 221,412. Insid...[Read More]

FF247 FPL Team GW37

FF247 FPL Team GW37 Welcome to FF247 FPL Team GW37 Well what a let down GW36 was! We know we have been on a great run of form and shouldn’t complain but what’s FPL for if we can’t moan when not every single little thing goes in our favour? Don’t answer that! We scored 33 points which was five points BELOW the average and strange territory in light of our recent returns (only 5 red arrows in 21 weeks) and as a result we dropped down to 229,901 overall. We aren’t even going to review the team – two clean sheets and an assist – that’s all she wrote ….. Our GW36 Result… Let’s go see what was decided… Our GW37 Transfer(s) We talked about dealing with Jota right now, we talked about heaving Lingard (due to his drop in form a...[Read More]

FF247 FPL Team GW36

FF247 FPL Team GW36 Welcome to FF247 FPL Team GW36 As we approach the final three gameweeks we come in off the back of a very healthy 137 points in GW35. We know all the decent players had ton-plus scores but ours has seen us rise almost 80,000 places to reside currently at 187,389 overall. In ordinary weeks we would be bemoaning the benching of Matt Targett (8) and Stuart Dallas (9) but not this week. Well OK, we should have played them over Luke Shaw and Ollie Watkins but hindsight ight n’ all that! Our top scoring player and leading by example was captain Bruno Fernandes with 38 points. He was ably assisted by double-digits from Diogo Jota (10), DCL (11), Martinez (12), Digne (14), TAA (16) and Mason Greenwood (19). We’re happy with our lot and press on for a sub-150k finish...[Read More]

FF247 FPL Team GW35

FF247 FPL Team GW35 Welcome to FF247 FPL Team GW35 Our stuttering finish to the season continued with a 48pt return in GW34. However, given the overall average was just 39 we still managed a green arrow to take us to a rank of 267,151. With Azpi rested and Bruno, Jota and TAA playing ‘Spot the Glazer’ at the Lowry we achieved our score with just 10 players. Son was our highest scorer with a goal and assist, Watkins again chipped in with a goal and Na(C)ho’s assist was welcome, though we asked for more. Digne collected an assist and somehow 3bps, which was more than welcome. All the others were frankly a waste of space and with a bigger double treble for some!) gameweek to follow, some heads may roll. Our GW34 Result… Let’s go see what was decided… Our GW35 Transfer(s) We’...[Read More]

FF247 FPL Team GW33

FF247 FPL Team GW33 Welcome to FF247 FPL Team GW33 We’ll give you three guesses who again was our super-sub this past week! Yep! That man Stuart Dallas (YET AGAIN!). He autosubbed in for Chelsea no-show Cesar Azpilicueta. His one point (don’t laugh) brought our gameweek score to 77 points which is a full thirty points s above the average and brings us up to 269,660 overall. Our third consecutive green arrow and 14th out of the last 17. We’re more than happy with that. If you remember we used our Triple Captain on Harry Kane this week. It was all going to plan with his two excellent goals at Everton but then disaster struck with another ankle knock late in the game which would eventually lead to him missing out the second leg of the DGW at home to Southampton, and an end t...[Read More]

FF247 FPL Team GW32

FF247 FPL Team GW32 Welcome to FF247 FPL Team GW32 Everbody Does Dallas As regular readers will know, we have benefitted a few times from the autosub rule this season. Call it luck if you like (we don’t – you won’t get good points from your bench if you don’t have good players on it) but we have already called upon two Matt Targett clean sheets and bonus points, an Ezri Konsa clean sheet, a 12-point haul from Jesse Lingard and a Stuart Dallas goal at Leicester a few weeks back. However, the ‘Cookstown Carlos’ outdid all of the above with his two goals at Champions-elect Manchester City last weekend as he ascended – wearing a crown and in a glow of brilliant light – from our bench with his 17 points and the next time the FF247 committee gather...[Read More]

FF247 FPL Team GW31

FF247 FPL Team GW31 Welcome to FF247 FPL Team GW31 No case for the defence We realise that it is the headline figure of the gameweek score which is the most important thing and not obivously the nuts and bolts of who did what within. Thankfully. Our defence was wickedly bad this past week. Martinez got 4 in goals thanks to six saves against Fulham and oh but for Tyrone Mings gifting Fulham their goal, we could have had a Martinez special. The back three combined for THREE points – hindered by Azpilicueta’s Zero and *cough* ‘boosted’ by Dallas’ 2. Digne was Joe Average. Speaking of average, Gareth Bale has not often been called that but this past week, he was even sub-average with 1 measly point and DCL, whose form is off a cliff, at least got two. Onto the goo...[Read More]

FF247 FPL Team GW30

FF247 FPL Team GW30 Welcome to FF247 FPL Team GW30 Remember FPL? A week is a long time in politics. And in football, well times that by a billion for an FPL gameweek. That’s BEFORE we factor in that it’s an international break. AND we’re off the back of a woeful gameweek with only four fixtures. We can forgive ourselves for putting FPL to the back of our minds for a bit. However, we are now approaching GW30 and before we discuss that, we must look all the way back to GW29 to see how good/bad/indifferent it was for us. We scored 39 points and the average was 25. That’s all right we suppose. Although we did have Gareth Bale who didn’t play and no sub to replace him (great!). That might put a bit of positive spin on it we guess. But it was a red arrow regrettably – from 408,682 to 433,614 – a...[Read More]

FF247 FPL Team GW29

FF247 FPL Team GW29 Man City deliver, but… It’s just as well they can as no other f*cker did! Or at least that’s how it felt last week. We won’t be alone in that feeling, it was just one of those weeks where the top players simply seemed to take one off, collectively. To be fair to DCL (goal) and Watkins (assist), they did at least try. Problem was that the City lads got us 18 out of our 48 points, those two included took it to 29 from four of our eleven players, the other seven therefore accounted for… 19. Wonderful! All that moaning aside, we were five above the average and it cost us a small slip of about 2k in rank, down to 408,682nd. Our GW28 Result… Let’s go see what was decided… Our GW29 Transfer(s) It was felt amongst the committee th...[Read More]

FF247 FPL Team GW28

FF247 FPL Team GW28 Welcome to FF247 FPL Team GW28 The Invisible Man We are sure many of you are familiar with the 80/20 rule of business; 20% of the effort for 80% of the results. Or some such iteration. This week we invented a new one for FPL, the 70/30 rule. To explain, we got 49 of our 70 points (70%) from 3 of our 11 players (circa 30%). But sometimes it’s just like that. The 3 in question were Kane (19), Gundogan (20, C) and Bruno (10). No big surprises there then. Elsewhere our ‘power defence’ of Cancelo, Dias and Digne brought home 3 points, combined. Son at least got an assist but that was the highlight from the rest of the attackers as Watkins, DCL and Raphinha all got 2 each. Martinez did us proud as usual in goal with 7 but even he got trumped by his understud...[Read More]

FF247 FPL Team GW27

FF247 FPL Team GW27 Welcome to FF247 FPL Team GW27 ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY! Well ok, not quite. But that was about the target. It has to be when you go in with 14 DGW’ers, which is effectively 29 players. Or two and a half normal teams. But perhaps these modern DGW’s lull us into a false sense of security. A few years back you could pick said 29 and be relatively assured that you’d get about 27 or 28 of them on the actual pitch. Not so much these days! As it was we came away with 113, minus the odd hit. And by ‘odd’ we mean a -4, not a -32. Someone best go check on Cookie… As for the players themselves a few did exactly as expected (see Martinez, Digne, Son and Kane, even Lowton for that matter). A few got rotated as expected (see Gundo and Cancelo). A few disappointed (see Bruno and ...[Read More]
