Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 25 Welcome to Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 25. Things are getting interesting guys – blank game-weeks approaching, subsequent double game-weeks to be announced, mini leagues hotting up, careful planning is required. And talking of hotting up, it’s all kicking off in the Premier League – Arsenal losing twice in a row, Klopp raging at his Scouse flops, Champions Leicester heading for the trap door to the Championship, from hero to zero for Sergio Aguero and has Big Sam lost his Midas touch? All that and more to look forward to as we go into GW25. Our week kicks off at the Emirates where a rejuvenated Hull look to make it three losses on the spin for the Gooners. Six 3pm matches follow as Man United host Watford, goal-hu...[Read More]
Fantasy Football 247 Site Team Gameweek 25 Welcome to the Fantasy Football 247 Site Team Gameweek 25 article. Last week for most was defined by whether you owned Lukaku or not. We didn’t. Those that did saw a lovely score, those that captained him are probably still out celebrating. Or getting over the shock of a Rom cap actually paying off. Our score of 57 was above average but brought a red arrow, we lost 7k places and now sit in 39,047th place. For once our midfield let us down, no goals, no assists, nothing. Fortunately our defenders and strikers delivered – clean sheets for Walker and Nyom and an assist for Coleman were valuable additions to the goals of Zlatan and new recruit Carroll. The highlight was Defoe’s brace, the ‘fossil’ as one of our number ref...[Read More]
Fantasy Premier League Tips Gameweek 25 Welcome to Fantasy Premier League Tips Gameweek 25. I asked Init to do a foreword for me, now you may ask why I would need such a thing in this article. Well, when I was given the task of writing TIPS (my first time ever) I quickly realized that I don’t have 3000 words in me like the previous writers did. So I figured I cheat and get 500 from the rooster. Listen fellas, as I always say and I quote myself “if you ain’t cheating, you ain’t trying” However, Init wrote it and apparently the dog ate it, because as you can see, there is no foreword. So now I am forced to write an intro for this article that I wasn’t planning on. Tough stuff, I know. In reviewing Tips from the past, it is obvious that we usually hold to a...[Read More]
Fantasy Premier League Captain Picks Gameweek 25 Welcome to Fantasy Premier League Captain Picks Gameweek 25. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Captain Picks for Game-week 25! Fantasy players’ success last GW was mostly determined by whether or not they had Lukaku as captain. If you did, congratulations on getting 42 points; if you didn’t, tough luck! Obviously, some managers had Lukaku but didn’t captain him (including me), meaning that last game-week could go either way depending on your other players. I got a red arrow myself, which I consider to be impressive given my bad rank and the fact that one of my players singlehandedly got 21 points. Anyways, your fortune most weeks will not be determined by the presence or performance of one player. Many of the typical captain choices have ...[Read More]
FPL Fixtures Analysis Gameweek 25 Welcome to FPL Fixtures Analysis Gameweek 25. In plotting the ins and outs of a gameweek, you typically try to allow for yourself to be completely wrong about a pick or two. It’s not allowing for ‘human error’ exactly, it’s more allowing for the humans on the pitch that will rise above their station every once in a blue moon. As the adage goes: “This is why we play the game.” But what do you do when multiple pieces of the puzzle don’t seem to fit? What do you do when multiple tribes seemingly topple empires? You grab a beer, count your blessings and move on. There’s no sense in trying to decipher how Hull went ahead and beat Liverpool by the score of 2-0. Even after Hull had supposedly sold all their best pieces, they still came out on top with a comfortab...[Read More]
January Transfer Analysis Welcome to January Transfer Analysis. Deadline Day has passed, Jim White has calmed down and put away his golden tie for another few months and the new signings will be getting acclimatised to their new surroundings. Some of the players are getting used to a new country but during this transfer window we mostly seen Premier League players swapping allegiances to another Premier League club. I don’t think there will be any arguments when I say this window was dominated by Piefaces crusade to return to the South coast of France with Marseille. Apart from that the window was rather drab for most fans with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, City, United and Spurs not signing really signing any names with the only transfer action being to boot lads out the front...[Read More]
Live Match Chat Gameweek 24 FPL News Welcome to Live Match Chat Gameweek 24 FPL News: After the hectic and somewhat disappointing midweek madness it’s straight back on the horse again barely three days later and we begin with a cracker at Saturday lunchtime. Arsenal practically wrote themselves out of the title race with that limp showing against Watford and if they are to have even the slightest chance of catching leaders Chelsea then this is a must win. We then have a chock full Saturday of entertainment with six 3pm kick offs before Spurs end our Saturday fun as they host ‘Boro in the late one. That leaves just the two on Sunday and Man City open it by playing Swansea in what looked likely to be a walkover a few weeks back. Maybe not now though, let’s see. Current Cham...[Read More]
Live Match Chat Gameweek 23 FPL News Welcome to Live Match Chat Gameweek 23 FPL News: We may have been rudely interrupted by another FA Cup weekend but we are back with a midweek bonanza. Everyone loves a packed FPL schedule under the lights and having the games all tightly packed together with the points rolling in simultaneously adds to the excitement and drama. Tuesday embodies that perfectly with no less than seven games. Six of those kick off at 7.45pm, the main ones of FPL interest, certainly from from a captaincy perspective anyway, are probably Arsenal, or more accurately Sanchez, hosting Watford, whilst Kane and co look at ripping Moyes’ men a new one up north. It could be grim up there, as the saying goes. Liverpool host Chelsea at 8pm in what could be the game of the round...[Read More]
Fantasy Premier League Tips Gameweek 23 Part Two Welcome to Fantasy Premier League Tips Gameweek 23. Ah, Back to the Future – what a series of films. We may not have hover boards (well, not real ones anyway – any with wheels don’t count), but other aspects have come to fruition like video calling and voice control and then there’s the question asked in disbelief: “Then tell me, future boy, who’s the President of the United States?”. I won’t go further there. Of course, if we had our own time machine (I’m still happy with a DeLorean!), we could go back to 11:00am UK time on 21st January and change around our teams to get the best possible scores, not to mention the betting possibilities with an accumulator including Swansea winning 3-2 at Liverpool! Andy Carroll could even have been m...[Read More]
Fantasy Premier League Captain Picks Gameweek 24 Welcome to Fantasy Premier League Captain Picks Gameweek 24. Oh dear. Midweek matches are supposed to be class! These ones, for most of us, were a non-event at best. How can I recommend the likes of Sanchez and Costa to you after their combined score of 4 points on Tuesday night? Well, in fairness, they do play each other in the lunchtime kick-off this weekend… which is far from ideal. So, here are 5 theoretically ‘better’ candidates for your team’s captaincy, each of whom fits into at least a couple of the following categories: tragically inconsistent, severely lacking in confidence, plays in an underperforming team, chews on marbles whilst being interviewed, completely illiterate. Harry Kane vs Middlesbrough (H) [three_fifth padding=”...[Read More]
Fantasy Premier League Tips Gameweek 24 Welcome to Fantasy Premier League Tips Gameweek 24. This is kind of an MLS-ish type of schedule that we’re dealing with this week (and in the rounds coming up). We had games take place on Tuesday and Wednesday for GW23 (and this article is actually being written before GW23 has been played out, so bear that in mind). We have another set of games kicking off on the weekend after short rest. And in just a few weeks time, we’ll have a serious set of bye weeks to plan for. So yeah, it’s kind of fitting that the former MLS writer for this site gets stuck trying to navigate some of this mess that we’re coming into. And just like when I used to have to write the MLS stuff, I’m not in the best of moods about the whole thing. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that...[Read More]
Fantasy Football 247 Site Team Gameweek 24 Welcome to the Fantasy Football 247 Site Team Gameweek 24 article. Hmmmmmm. That probably sums everybody’s reaction when they looked at their score this week. We scored 36 for the record. Now usually when you log on and see 36 you expect to have plummeted some 10k places if not more. But to further sum the week up and put it bang in perspective we rose in the rankings. By 9 places! We now sit at 31,899 in the overall rankings. So good was the past week that our entire team managed two assists and one clean sheet between them. Walker got the clean sheet, Coleman and our captain Sanchez got the assists. Wow, what an exciting week! A story echoed everywhere, evidently. Anyway let’s put that one behind us all and hope some of the big guns ...[Read More]
