Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 1

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 1 2017/18 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 1. “The First Cut is the Deepest”. “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face”. First come, first served. Love at first sight. Make a good first impression. The first US President, George Washington. The first Tour de France champion, Maurice Garin. The first winner of ‘The Voice’ in Lithuania, Julija Jegorova. To truly leave your mark or carve out a legacy you often need to make that first step count. Just like Neil Armstrong did in some 1969 Kubrick movie I saw. Your first FPL captain of 2017/18 has a lot to live up to. Last season Philippe Coutinho topped the GW1 charts with a 15 point haul, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s 9 points proved that FPL new boys ca...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Fixture Analysis Gameweek 1

Fantasy Football Fixture Analysis Gameweek 1 Welcome to Fantasy Football Fixture Analysis Gameweek 1. Before we begin the Fixtures article to kick off the 17/18 FPL season, I just want to thank the owners of this site for allowing me to continue to write this series once more. For a site that’s undoubtedly being seen by more Europeans than anything else, it’s a huge hono(u)r for me, an American, to be able to produce the first advice article you’ll see each week. To quote Donald Trump: “I know words. I have the best words.” Maybe American exceptionalism isn’t what it used to be, but I truly, deeply, bigly know words. So you’re in good hands, folks. Now that we have pleasantries out of the way, I have something I need to get off my chest: I honestly believe that the worst version of an FPL ...[Read More]

Fantasy Premier League 2017/18 Defensive Rotation Potential

Fantasy Premier League 2017/18 Defensive Rotation Potential Welcome to Fantasy Premier League 2017/18 Defensive Rotation Potential. Choose 1 Goalkeeper and 3 defenders and then stick with them through thick and thin or spread it around and look for rotations that offer to provide better returns? It’s a question that I have previously pondered and tried both ways without any big conclusions. Until I actually had another sit down and thrashed out where clean sheets actually come from… We do know that more clean sheets happen at home and are more likely against lower clubs. So on the surface home/away & Fixture difficulty seem to offer a good path for rotation, but does it actually hold true? Lets look at the actual math from last season when fully broken down. FPL generally s...[Read More]

New Fantasy Premier League Transfers 2017/18 West Ham

New Fantasy Premier League Transfers 2017/18 West Ham Hello and welcome to New Fantasy Premier League Transfers 2017/18 West Ham. West Ham struggled for the most part last season and at one stage looked like they may get dragged into the relegation mire, with boss Bilic under severe scrutiny. Both he and them weathered the storm though and came out with a fairly respectable 11th place finish and they even managed to beat Spurs in their Cup Final. They’ve made a few relatively small but maybe shrewd moves in the transfer window so far, most notably bringing in Joe Hart, Pablo Zabaleta, Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez. I shall take a brief look at all four and their relative FPL prospects. I should preface it all by saying that I really don’t rate at least 2 of them as play...[Read More]

New FPL Transfers Chelsea Alvaro Morata, Antonio Rudiger and Tiemoue Bakayoko

New FPL Transfers Chelsea Alvaro Morata Antonio Rudiger and Tiemoue Bakayoko Hello and welcome to New FPL Transfers Chelsea Alvaro Morata, Antonio Rudiger and Tiemoue Bakayoko. Chelsea won the league with relative ease last season, a feat they achieved with a core of no more than 13/14 players. However it’s worth remembering that Chelsea had no European football to contend with, this season they will have the small matter of the Champions League to deal with while also trying to defend their title. Antonio Conte will be quite aware of this and Chelsea have already splashed something in the region of £130m on three players, Alvaro Morata, Antonio Rudiger and Tiemoue Bakayoko. Remember when £130m was a lot of money? Now it wouldn’t even buy you Neymar. Chelsea fans will could expect mo...[Read More]

New FPL Transfers Liverpool Mohamed Salah and Andrew Robertson

New FPL Transfers Liverpool Mohamed Salah and Andrew Robertson Hello and welcome to New FPL Transfers Liverpool Mohamed Salah and Andrew Robertson. Liverpool started last season in electric form and in some circles they were being spoken about as potential league champions. A lack of depth within their squad and possibly a lack of a plan B eventually saw them fall away and ultimately they did well to finish 4th. Last season they had no European football to contend with meaning they were free to concentrate on the league. This season they will have European football to deal with although it remains to be seen what night of the week they will play. One thing is for sure and that is that Liverpool need to add both depth and quality to their squad. They continue to be linked with Virgil van Dy...[Read More]

Promoted Teams Analysis FPL 2017/18 Huddersfield

Promoted Teams Analysis FPL 2017/18 Huddersfield After watching supposed smaller teams like Wigan, Swindon, Blackpool and Bradford make it to the premiership in the past, 2017/18 is Huddersfield Town’s turn after 45 years away from the top division!! Personally, I’m still in shock and never thought I would see it in my lifetime, though I did dare to dream and admit to shedding a tear, along with a lot of others, when that final penalty went in, in the playoff final at Wembley! Only after the Premier league fixtures came out and Town started signing players for £10m+ did it begin to sink in we are Premier League!! It could be said that Huddersfield exceeded all expectations after finishing the previous season in 19th place and were tipped by Ian Holloway to be relegated. With a ...[Read More]

Promoted Teams Analysis FPL 2017/18 Brighton

Promoted Teams Analysis FPL 2017/18 Brighton I’m writin’ about Brighton. As Milburn and Rosco combine to give us the canny lowdown on their local heroes at Newcastle and as Brookyboy runs through his beloved Huddersfield Terriers, it fell to me to write about my local side – 469 miles for those curious! I’m actually closer to Killarney than Brighton but that’s not to say I can’t fall in love and adopt them as my little team this season. So let me give you a quick meet and greet to ‘my’ Albion before we look at the five players I’ve selected who I think could provide the best value for your fantasy squads this season. Brighton and Hove Albion to give them their full title were founded in 1901 and this season will be their first ever in t...[Read More]

New FPL Transfers Jay Rodriguez, Jon Walters and Harry Maguire

New FPL Transfers Jay Rodriguez, Jon Walters and Harry Maguire Hello and welcome to New FPL Transfers Jay Rodriguez, Jon Walters and Harry Maguire. To date all our articles regarding new signings have been specific to individual teams. Unfortunately not all teams are going to make enough sexy signings to warrant an article of their own and thus we are forced to lump a number of teams in together. Forced is probably the wrong word but you get our drift. Today we bring you signings from West Brom, Burnley & Leciester, I can almost sense your excitement from here. Cookie won’t thank me for telling you this but he has high hopes for J Rod, I’m not quite as enthusiastic over Jon Walters and Harry Maguire. Let’s see what you guys think.. Jay Rodriguez Club: West Brom Position: Forward FPL P...[Read More]

New FPL Transfers Arsenal Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette

New FPL Transfers Arsenal Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette Hello and welcome to New FPL Transfers Arsenal Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette. Welcome back to a brand-new season of Fantasy Premier League! The Transfer Window has been in full swing since the 1st of July with plenty new faces coming into the league giving us fantasy managers more options to pull our hair out over. In the coming weeks, we will see multiple drafts, probably all from Mitro, containing different combinations of some of these new faces so to make it easier for him and everyone else; below I have written up an analysis of some of those faces. With so much money flooding into the English League in the recent years we are seeing some ridiculous transfers and transfer fees up and down the divisions (Ruben Ne...[Read More]

Value for money and points for free…

Value for money and points for free… “Play air guitar with MTV That ain’t workin’, that’s the way to do it, Points for nothing & chics for free. I want my, I want my, I want my FPL.” No, I can’t do anything about partners for free, we ‘re talking someone who can’t score in a house of ill repute the night after winning the lottery here. But through many Sunday mornings of a sore head from trying to work out how 3 pints and a poppadom with the lads cost me £70 I am now well equipped to advise on spending a bare minimum, even if it does severely limit your social life; but hey this is FPL not Love Island. The way fpl bumps up the price of every player who remembered to tie his laces before going on the pitch means our wonderful polishe...[Read More]

New FPL Transfers Bournemouth Nathan Ake and Jermain Defoe

New FPL Transfers Bournemouth Nathan Ake and Jermain Defoe Hello and welcome to New FPL Transfers Bournemouth Nathan Ake and Jermain Defoe. Cookie gets United’s latest additions, of course Init takes Everton and Matt has cherry picked Arsenal & City. And what about Kop I hear you ask? Well due to Liverpool’s insistence on writing apology letters rather than acquiring new players I’ve chosen Bournemouth! Why? I’m wondering that myself and should I come up with a worthwhile answer I’ll be sure to let you know. Enough about me, what about Bournemouth. This will be their 3rd straight season in the top flight finishing 16th in 2015/16 and 9th last season. They’ll certainly hope to continue on such a trajectory. To date they’ve added three players to...[Read More]
