Fantasy Football Captain Picks

The Captain’s Picks article, which will be released every Wednesday, will endeavor to sort out one of the most challenging problems FPL managers face – namely pick the member of your side who will accrue the most points and earn huge double point tallies for your fantasy team. We will concentrate on the most obvious looking selections each particular game-week and have a look at some comparable stats to see who, on paper, the best options are.

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 37

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 37 2017/18 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 37. It’s the Triple Captain Kane gameweek. Why are you here? It’s obvious. This is GW37 we’re talking about, by the way, not GW22: that was definitely a different DGW scenario. I recall Kane going into that one with two consecutive hat-tricks. Not exactly Triple Captain material, really, was it… this time, with just 2 (actually FPL-accredited) goals in his last 7 appearances, he’ll surely meet expectations. I think that’s how this works? More to come regarding Harry soon. For now, though, please muster the strength to read this and give your penultimate push for work-league glory or, perhaps most importantly, pride. Harry Claim vs WBA (A) and Newcastle (H) I won’t mess around. I’ll captain...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 36

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 36 2017/18 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 36. I’ll be honest here I spent a good while looking at the fixtures to try and pick out a differential from one of the lower teams that still have ‘something to play for’ as Cookie would put it and I was close to including a West Brom player with the form they are in; but then I thought Init may kill me because why waste time on writing about players that no one in their right mind would have? Jay Rodriguez was the only West Brom player I had in my team this season, but that dream ended a long, long time ago. If you still have him because you started back in September, forgot your password and haven’t touched your team since, why not stick it on him? It’s the run in…. take a risk! Well th...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks DGW34

Fantasy Football Captain Picks DGW34 2017/18 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks DGW34. I’ll be honest, in recent weeks I’ve adopted the ‘Always captain Salah approach’, it’s served me well, but how much fun is it to simply captain the same player week in, week out? Just when we were all getting complacent, Salah picks up an injury, forcing us all to look elsewhere in GW33. He could of course be back this game-week (more on that later), so what we need is a compelling argument to look elsewhere once again. Well that compelling argument has arrived, if ever there was a time to roll the dice, this week would be it. Yes, that’s right folks, its DGW time! Even the most risk-averse managers are likely to throw caution to the wind this game-week. DGW’s do something strange to the mind of a...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 33

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 33 2017/18 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 33. Writing this article has just about been a foregone conclusion lately, yeah sure some will stray or are desperate and take chances with their captaincy picks trying to make up ground, but for the most part we are down to the same two or three players week in and week out. On paper this week probably falls in line also, but there is one possibly tricky scenario or two that could make some of the top picks perhaps a bit riskier than usual. We will go over this and a couple of other things/stats as we look at the gameweek ahead. Let us get right to it and talk about the possible picks and what to look for. No point in waffling on, I am on vacation and I want to get back to doing vacationy...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 32

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 32 2017/18 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 32. Savour this article. As it may be the last one for a good while that doesn’t bang on endlessly about DGW’s! And BGW’s for that matter. Our Fixtures article did, and our Tips article that will follow almost certainly will. That’s not our MO here though, we are here to talk about GW32 and GW32 alone. So much so that you could almost also consider this as a player tips article for this week alone, except for the fact that we can only see 3 viable options! Armband or not, if a player makes this shortlist then you can be sure that he’s one that you should probably at least aspire to want in your ranks for the week ahead. We say the above because a certain Egypt...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Tips and Captain Picks Gameweek 31

Fantasy Football Tips and Captain Picks Gameweek 31 Welcome to Fantasy Football Tips and Captain Picks Gameweek 31. We may be masochist’s in many respects but we don’t (normally!) treat our writers in the same fashion. In a week with just four fixtures, asking our Tips writer to do anything other than name the bleeding obvious seemed cruel. Asking this week’s Captain writer to knock out an article to justify anyone but a Liverpool player, and in particular one named Mo, seemed… absurd. And painful. Instead… we’ve asked them all to do both! Sort of. We’ve expanded the thought process a bit though and have asked them all a series of questions about not only BGW31 but also about their plans for the weeks ahead and also their chip strategy. And their c...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 30

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 30 2017/18 95% of the top 10k captained one of two players last week. To be exact 57.5% of them went with Salah (the correct option) and 37.5% of them went with Kane (the wrong one, as it turned out, but not by much). The point being that the choices are being condensed somewhat. You can probably add in Aguero this week, albeit with a possible Jesus caveat. Do that and it’s difficult to construct a proper Captains article without simply either pointing out the bleeding obvious or repeating what has already been said week in, week out for weeks on end. Or suggesting a plethora of punts, none of whom you are going with, let’s be honest. And so we are taking a different slant on it all this week and we have asked some of our writers to simpl...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 28

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 28 2017/18 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 28. Guess who’s back, back again, Mito’s back, tell a friend. Is that Kun and Salah going round the outside, round the outside? Sorry, sometimes I get caught listening to some old Em. So, I have been asked to write the captaincy article this week and as I always do, I pitched a different idea. As always though, it was shot down. To be fair, I can’t really remember what I was pitching, is just in my nature to be difficult. Well, at least that’s what my mom has always said, of course, I disagree with her assessment. Speaking of momma bear, she has always been a conservative lady and if she were advising me on who to put in this article, she probably say “Give th...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 27

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 27 2017/18 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 27. I have two comments to make on Gameweek 26: thank God I captained Salah, and if any of you scored less than one point across your entire backline, please come forward. I will leave it at that. As a late (at least) second-choice call-up to write this article, it promises mediocrity. I say late, I have had plenty of time to write this up; I even got an extension. The mediocrity is not for want of trying though: Salah is so consistent and Manchester City’s fixtures seem to be constantly so good, that any other player I thrust above the parapet will inevitably be shot down by a wave of eagle-eyed FPL experts. How frightening. After my first article, ‘Gameweek 25 Fixtures’, I was lambasted ...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 26

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 26 2017/18 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 26. Gameweek 25 provided inconspicuous captaincy returns for most as several candidates such as Firmino, Salah, Vardy and Aguero failed to break the 8 point barrier. Worse still was Kane, who left it to his teammates to get the goals; and Hazard who just left it to Bournemouth. Those FPL managers who like to surf the differential captain adrenaline rush will have been doing the conga well into the night, as Theo Walcott, Sam Clucas and Emre Can finally came through for them. The January transfer deadline may have muddied the waters somewhat ahead of this weekend, but there remain plenty of familiar options and I have turned to plucking some nuggets of wisdom from social media this week in ...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 25

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 25 2017/18 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 25. GW24 was definitely a mixed bag for most people. I was very happy with how my team was going straight after the Christmas period getting green arrows and going into the top 60k but GW24 was like that feeling you get having to go back to work on a Monday or when you come home from the pub steaming only to be interrogated by the prison warden. Hopefully it wasn’t like this for everyone, especially those who were able to bring in a certain Argentinian who, let’s face it, scored possibly the easiest hattrick of his career! My other Chuckle Brother, Rosco tipped Sergio Aguero in last week’s Captain Picks even against his beloved Toon. (Even if he wants to sell his season ticket ?) Well look...[Read More]

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 24

Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 24 2017/18 Welcome to Fantasy Football Captain Picks Gameweek 24. To be honest; I couldn’t wait for GW22 to end. The Christmas fixtures started so well, green arrows in GW19 and 20, but quickly followed by two reds in 21 and 22 resulting in ending up pretty much back where I started. Don’t get me wrong, that’s not to say I didn’t enjoy it (honest) but usually the pain of a bad game-week is over in a matter of days. GW22 was like an episode of Downton Abbey, tedious, something I don’t want to watch and overly drawn-out. The FA Cup was a welcome break, which is saying something as prior to last week, Newcastle had failed to reach the fourth round since 2012! If all of the above sounds a little ‘woe is me’ it’s not meant to, but sometimes we all need a ...[Read More]
